What home tuition costs in Hyderabad

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Class 10 home tutors in Hyderabad: the Telangana SSC year, and CBSE, ICSE and IGCSE beside it

In a Hyderabad apartment block, three Class 10 students on the same floor can be sitting three quite different exams. The state board student writes the SSC public examination at the end of the year; a neighbour faces CBSE board papers; another is on ICSE or heading for IGCSE. The chapters look alike from the outside, but the papers, the marking and the calendar do not. This guide is written by Abhinandan Tiwary, who writes on Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, and Aaditya Kashyap, who writes on CBSE and ICSE science. It explains how the SSC is run, how the other boards compare, what happens after the result, where a tutor makes the biggest difference, and how to plan travel across the twin cities so lessons actually happen every week.

Who runs the SSC in Telangana, and how is it marked?

The SSC public examination is conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Telangana, an independent department under the state's Secondary Education ministry, at bse.telangana.gov.in. The Directorate says it holds the SSC examinations twice a year; in 2026 its site listed a March public examination and an advanced supplementary examination (ASE) in June for students who needed another attempt. Teaching follows the state syllabus, and SCERT Telangana posts e-textbooks and workbooks for Classes 6 to 10 online.

The site still links a 2014 government order on examination reforms for Classes 9 and 10. In that order:

SSC marking as set out in the 2014 order linked from bse.telangana.gov.in
ElementWhat the order saysWhat it means at home
Marks per subject80 for the summative written examination, 20 for formative assessment in schoolClasswork, projects and notebooks count; keep them complete
Passing35% in each subject, with at least 28 of the 80 written marksInternal marks cannot rescue a weak written paper
ResultsGrades from A1 (91 to 100) down to E, each with a grade pointA few marks at a grade boundary change the grade
After resultsRecounting and re-verification of scripts, not revaluationPrepare as if the first marking is final

Rules can change after an order is issued, so check the current scheme, subject papers and timetable on the Directorate's website and with the school. Our page on Telangana board tutors in Hyderabad covers the state board from the primary years to Intermediate.

What should an SSC tutor actually do each week?

  • Work from the state textbook first. Every exercise, every worked example, in the medium your child writes in. Guidebooks come after, not instead.
  • Protect the 20 school marks. Ask the tutor to glance at project files and notebooks each month; they are easy marks to lose through carelessness.
  • Practise against the clock. Full written answers under time pressure, then marking line by line, the way an examiner reads them.
  • Aim at a grade, not just a pass. Because results come as grades, a student sitting just below a boundary in maths or science gains most from targeted revision.

How do CBSE, ICSE and IGCSE Class 10 differ from the SSC?

Class 10 in Hyderabad beyond the state board
BoardHow it is assessedChoices that matterWhere students slip
CBSEMost subjects: an 80-mark board paper and 20 internal marks; 33% to pass each; roughly half the questions test applicationMaths Standard or Basic; from 2026 a compulsory main exam plus an optional second sitting to improve up to three subjects (2027 dates not yet out)Case-study questions and running out of time
ICSEMaths is a single three-hour paper of 80 marks, plus 20 internalWhich Section B questions to attemptA wide syllabus and steps left out

What comes after the Class 10 result in Hyderabad?

For state board students the next step is the two-year Intermediate course under the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education, taken in a group: MPC and BiPC for the sciences, and groups such as MEC and CEC for commerce. CBSE and ICSE students usually continue into Class 11 on their own board. The group decides which entrance routes stay open, so it is worth talking about well before March. A student who wants MPC should finish Class 10 with algebra and trigonometry that are genuinely secure, not just good enough to pass.

Our guide to choosing a board and stream sets out the trade-offs, and Class 11 tutors in Hyderabad explains the first Intermediate year.

Which Class 10 subjects are worth paying a tutor for?

  • Mathematics: the usual first choice on every board, because each chapter leans on the one before and marks go on method. See maths home tutors in Hyderabad and the Class 10 maths preparation plan.
  • Science: physics numericals, balanced equations and labelled biology diagrams each need practice. Try science home tutors in Hyderabad and our Class 10 science notes.
  • English: a handful of sessions on letter, essay and comprehension formats is often enough.
  • Telugu, Hindi or Urdu: language papers count towards the result too; a weekly reading and writing slot keeps them from becoming a March emergency.
  • Social studies: a self-study routine with maps and short notes usually works better than regular tuition.

If maths and science are both only a little behind, one tutor can take both. If one is clearly weak, a specialist for that subject is usually the better use of the budget.

How should the Class 10 year be paced?

CBSE schools start in April, while state board schools usually reopen in June after the summer holidays, so two students in the same building can be two months apart. Measured from the school's own first month, a sound year looks like this:

  1. Months one and two: gather the syllabus and the latest pattern, test the Class 9 basics, and get slightly ahead of school.
  2. The monsoon stretch: one chapter test a week and a notebook of repeated mistakes; agree an online fallback for the wettest evenings.
  3. Before the festival breaks: aim to finish the syllabus, with formative or internal work complete.
  4. Pre-final and pre-board weeks: full papers in exam conditions, marked against the scheme.
  5. The last month: revise from the mistakes notebook only, and check the official timetable.

How do tutors reach Class 10 students around the city?

Getting a board-year tutor to your door in six Hyderabad zones
ZoneUsual route inSlot tip
Kukatpally, Miyapur & NizampetRed Line to Miyapur, Kukatpally or KPHB Colony, then a short walk or autoStart before the evening rush at Miyapur X Roads

Khairatabad, Himayatnagar & AbidsKhairatabad's own metro or MMTS station; the Green Line for HimayatnagarParking is scarce, so a tutor on the train is more reliable

Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar & VanasthalipuramRed Line to Chaitanyapuri, Dilsukhnagar or LB NagarA tutor on the metro beats one driving past the market

Should board-year lessons be at home or online?

For maths and science working, a tutor at the table who can see every line is hard to beat. Online lessons earn their place when the right specialist lives on the far side of Hussain Sagar, or when evening traffic would eat half the session. ICSE and IGCSE specialists are the usual case. For online maths, the tutor must watch the notebook live, through a pen tablet, a shared whiteboard or a phone propped above the page. Many Hyderabad families settle on a weekend lesson at home and a shorter online one midweek.

How should you test a Class 10 tutor at the demo?

The first class with the tutor you choose is free. Use it to check board knowledge, not just friendliness:

  1. Ask about the paper. For the SSC: where they check the current pattern, and how they handle the formative marks. For CBSE: the internal marks and the second exam. For IGCSE: which tier.
  2. Show a marked school test. A good tutor spots where the marks went within minutes.
  3. Watch how they correct. Line by line, or only the final answer?
  4. Pick a question from the textbook your child could not do, and see whether the tutor teaches the idea or just solves it.
  5. Ask for a month-by-month plan to the exam, with dates for full papers.

If the match is wrong, the next tutor on your shortlist can take a demo, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified, and our demo class checklist has more questions.

What does a Class 10 home tutor cost in Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Class 10, the board, the number of subjects, how many sessions a week and the journey to your locality at your hour all shape the quote. Tutors set their own fees, and you see each one before the demo. The pricing guide and home tuition fees in Hyderabad help with budgeting.

Where we match Class 10 tutors in Hyderabad and Secunderabad

In Miyapur, at the western end of the Red Line, a tutor can ride from Ameerpet or Kukatpally and take an auto to the society gate, where visitors are usually registered. Serilingampally, which most people call Lingampally, is the terminus of the MMTS, so tutors from across the city can arrive by train. Near the five-road junction, Khairatabad has both a metro and an MMTS station, which matters because parking in its older lanes is limited.

Marredpally, split into East and West, mixes builder floors and houses where a tutor simply rings at the door. Ramanthapur has no station of its own, so tutors take the Blue Line to Uppal or Habsiguda and finish by auto, and in Kothapet Chaitanyapuri station puts most lanes within a short walk.

Before the board year, see Class 9 tutors in Hyderabad. Tell us the board, subjects, medium, locality and the nearest station or landmark; we suggest two or three tutors with fees shown. Book a free demo, browse tutor profiles, or see every neighbourhood on home tutors in Hyderabad.

Class 10 Home Tutor in Hyderabad: common questions

How do I get a Telangana SSC or CBSE Class 10 tutor in Hyderabad?

To find a Class 10 home tutor in Hyderabad, send the board, subjects, your locality and the slots you can offer. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free; if the match is wrong, the next tutor on your shortlist takes a demo.

Which body runs the Telangana SSC exam that Hyderabad Class 10 students sit?

The Directorate of Government Examinations, Telangana, conducts the Class 10 SSC exam for Hyderabad students, with a main public examination and an advanced supplementary examination each year. Check the current scheme, subjects and timetable on bse.telangana.gov.in and with the school, rather than relying on older guidebooks or notes.

How are Telangana SSC marks split between school and the written exam in Hyderabad?

For Hyderabad students, a 2014 order linked from the board's website gives each SSC subject 80 marks for the written examination and 20 for formative assessment in school. A pass needs 35%, with at least 28 of the 80 written marks, and results are shown as grades from A1 down to E. Confirm the current scheme on the board's site.

Can one tutor teach maths and science for Class 10 in Hyderabad?

One tutor can teach maths and science for Class 10 in Hyderabad if both subjects are only slightly behind and the tutor is strong in each. When one subject is clearly weak, or your child is aiming for an A1 grade or a high CBSE score, a specialist is usually money better spent. Test the tutor on a chapter from each.

Are there CBSE, ICSE and IGCSE Class 10 tutors in Hyderabad?

Yes, NXTutors matches CBSE, ICSE and IGCSE Class 10 tutors in Hyderabad on the exact board and paper. That means CBSE Standard or Basic maths, the ICSE paper with its internal marks, or Cambridge 0580 Core or Extended and Edexcel Foundation or Higher. Specialists may live across the city, so a weekly home lesson with an online one between is common.

How early in the school year should a Hyderabad Class 10 student start tuition?

A Class 10 student in Hyderabad should start with a tutor in the first two months of the school year, which comes earlier for CBSE than for state board schools. That leaves time to repair Class 9 gaps before the monsoon months. A tutor who joins after the pre-finals can sharpen timing but has little time to rebuild foundations.

What happens after the SSC for a Hyderabad student who wants science?

After the SSC, most Hyderabad state board students who want science move into the two-year Intermediate course run by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education. They choose a group such as MPC or BiPC, which shapes later entrance options, so decide early. A student heading for MPC should leave Class 10 with secure algebra and trigonometry.

Which Class 10 subjects are worth paying a tutor for in Hyderabad?

In Hyderabad, maths is the usual first Class 10 subject worth paying a tutor for, because each chapter leans on the one before and marks go on method. Science numericals, equations and diagrams come next. English often needs only a handful of format sessions, and Telugu, Hindi or Urdu benefit from a weekly reading and writing slot.

Does online tuition work for Class 10 maths in Hyderabad?

Online tuition can work for Class 10 maths in Hyderabad, as long as the tutor sees your child's working live. A pen tablet, shared whiteboard or a phone camera over the notebook all do the job. It helps most when the right ICSE or IGCSE specialist lives across Hussain Sagar. Many families combine a weekend home session with a shorter online one.

What fee should we expect for a Class 10 SSC or CBSE tutor in Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For Class 10 in Hyderabad, the board, subjects, sessions per week, the tutor's experience and the journey at your slot set the fee. Every shortlisted fee is shown before the free demo.
