Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Hyderabad, "commerce" can mean several different timetables. A state board student in a junior college may be in MEC, CEC or ACE, each with its own mix of accountancy, commerce, economics and maths, and from 2026-27 each first-year paper also carries internal assessment. CBSE and ISC students take their own commerce subjects, and a few follow Cambridge or the IB. This guide from the NXTutors Academic Team explains what each route contains, how a tutor should approach the Intermediate commerce papers, whether you need one tutor or two, how to plan the two years, where CUET and CA Foundation fit, and how to find a tutor who can reach your part of the city.
Before matching anyone, we need the exact subject names from your child's timetable, because the same word, "commerce", hides different papers on each board.
| Route | Commerce papers | Tell the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Telangana Inter, ACE group | ACE stands for Accountancy, Commerce and Economics; Commerce and Accountancy are separate papers | Year, textbook edition and the college's internal assessment schedule |
| Telangana Inter, CEC group | Commerce and Accountancy combined into a single subject, with the group's other papers beside it | That it is the combined CEC paper, not ACE |
| Telangana Inter, MEC group | A Mathematics paper of its own (80 + 20 in the first year), different from the MPC maths papers, with the group's other papers | Which maths paper, and whether maths or commerce is weaker |
| CBSE | Accountancy (055), Business Studies (054) and Economics (030), each 80 theory marks plus a 20-mark project | The Part B option in Class 12 accountancy |
| ISC | Accounts (858), Commerce (857) and Economics (856), with English compulsory | Whether maths is Mathematics or Applied Mathematics |
| Cambridge or IB | Accounting and Economics at IGCSE and A Level; Business Management and Economics in the IB Diploma | Syllabus code or IB subject and level |
For single subjects, see accountancy and economics tutors in Hyderabad; board-wide help is on Telangana board, CBSE and ISC pages for the city.
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education publishes the syllabus, model question papers and annual academic plans for the commerce and accountancy papers in each group. A tutor who works from those, rather than from another board's books, saves the student a great deal of confusion. In practice:
TGBIE's first-year validation rules, in force from 2026-27, give each commerce paper 80 theory marks and 20 internal marks. The internal marks come from five kinds of activity: report writing, a case study, poster making, a brief note and a flow chart, with at least one activity drawn from each unit of the textbook. In ACE each of Commerce and Accountancy carries its own 20 internal marks; in CEC the 20 are split between the commerce and accountancy halves of the combined subject. The activities record is submitted in January or February, and a student must clear 35% separately in theory and in internal assessment. MEC maths and Economics have internal assessment of their own under the same rules.
A tutor's role here is supportive, not to make the record: explaining what a good case study or flow chart looks like, checking that every unit has an activity, and making sure nothing is left for the last week.
| Arrangement | Best for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts tutor only | Students who manage theory alone but lose marks on formats and adjustments | Theory papers left until February |
| One tutor for every commerce paper | First-year students and families who want a single weekly slot | Make sure the demo includes a written theory answer |
| Accounts and maths with one tutor, economics and commerce with another | MEC students, and second-year students aiming high | Two timetables; agree who tracks the overall plan |
| Accounts at home, theory online | Families where the theory specialist lives across the city | Written answers still need marking by hand; send photos |
The deciding question is usually where marks are being lost. Bring the last unit test or half-yearly script for every commerce paper to the demo; if most lost marks are in accounts formats, start with one accounts tutor, and if they are spread across written answers too, a tutor who teaches both is worth the search.
English counts too, and nearly every commerce student sits it; see English home tutors in Hyderabad if writing is weak, and maths home tutors for MEC or CBSE maths.
The first year builds the vocabulary and formats that the second year assumes: the full accounting cycle from journal to final accounts, the basic tools of economics, and the definitions that run through every commerce answer. The second year moves to more complex accounting topics and to the economy as a whole, with entrance tests and college choices arriving in the same season.
CBSE and ISC students follow their school's calendar, but the same pattern holds: formats early, theory writing from the middle of the year, full papers before the pre-boards.
CUET (UG), conducted by the National Testing Agency, is used for undergraduate admission to Central Universities and participating universities; Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies are among its domain subjects. Its questions are based on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus, so state board students should check the official syllabus for each subject and fill any gaps. ICAI's CA Foundation has four papers: Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude and Business Economics. Neither should crowd out the board papers in Class 11. Take dates and eligibility only from cuet.nta.nic.in and icai.org; our CUET preparation guide explains the test.
| Zone | Route in | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Chandanagar, Lingampally & Tellapur | MMTS to Hafizpet or Chandanagar | Signals on the main roads back up at peak hours; allow a margin |
| Ameerpet, Begumpet & Punjagutta | Punjagutta on the Red Line, or the Ameerpet interchange | Wide choice of tutors from both metro lines |
| Khairatabad, Himayatnagar & Abids | Assembly, Nampally or Gandhi Bhavan on the Red Line | Weekday afternoons avoid the market crowds |
| Secunderabad, Marredpally & Tarnaka | Malkajgiri on the MMTS, or Mettuguda on the Blue Line | Share the colony name with a map pin |
| Uppal, Habsiguda & Nacharam | Habsiguda on the Blue Line, then an auto along the main road | Fix a time that avoids the weekday shopping and factory traffic |
| Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki & Attapur | Buses through the Mehdipatnam depot | Start after the junction's evening rush |
Accounts works well online, because ledgers and statements are easy to share on screen or as photographs, and a tutor can mark formats line by line. Theory papers need written answers checked by hand, which is simpler at the table. Many commerce students in Hyderabad combine the two: a weekly home lesson for accounts or maths, and an online session for economics or commerce theory. Our page on online tutors for Hyderabad students covers the setup.
The first class is free and switching later costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified; our demo checklist has more ideas.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The number of papers, the year, and the trip to your locality shape the quote, and every fee is visible before the demo. See home tuition fees in Hyderabad and the pricing guide.
We match commerce tutors across the city. Hafeezpet has its own MMTS station; behind the junction in Punjagutta, quieter colonies are a short walk from the metro; and in Abids, where parking is limited, tutors usually arrive by metro or bus. Malkajgiri sits on the MMTS route to Bolarum, Nacharam is reached by auto from Habsiguda, and Mehdipatnam's bus depot connects it to much of the city.
Tell us the board or group, year, every commerce subject, your locality and free times. We suggest two or three tutors with fees shown. They are commerce groups in the Intermediate course. TGBIE says ACE stands for Accountancy, Commerce and Economics, with Commerce and Accountancy as separate papers. CEC combines Commerce and Accountancy into one subject. MEC has its own Mathematics paper, separate from the MPC maths papers. Tell the tutor the exact group and subject list before the demo.
TGBIE's validation rules give each first-year commerce paper 80 theory marks and 20 internal marks, earned through report writing, a case study, poster making, a brief note and a flow chart, with an activity from each unit. The record is submitted in January or February, and theory and internal marks are passed separately.
Some can, especially in the first year. Accounts and maths are learnt by solving problems in the correct format, while economics and commerce theory reward clear written answers, and few tutors are equally strong in both. Ask for a theory answer as well as an accounts problem during the free demo, then decide.
Yes. For CBSE we match on Accountancy (055), Business Studies (054) and Economics (030), each with a 20-mark project. For ISC we match on Accounts (858), Commerce (857) and Economics (856). Mention whether your child takes maths or applied maths, since that often decides whether one tutor can cover everything.
Not intensively. CUET (UG) domain papers follow the NCERT Class 12 syllabus, and CA Foundation has four papers set by ICAI. Class 11 is better spent building accounting formats, economics basics and good written answers, which serve both later. Take dates and eligibility only from cuet.nta.nic.in and icai.org.
Usually, yes. Ledgers, journals and statements are easy to share on screen or as photos, and the tutor can check formats line by line. Theory papers need handwritten answers marked carefully, which some students find easier at home. A weekly home lesson for accounts with an online session for theory suits many families.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with Classes 11 and 12, IB and IGCSE and entrance work toward the upper end. The number of papers, the year and the journey at your slot shape the quote. You see every shortlisted fee before the free demo.
