Home Tuition in Central and South Indore: Palasia to Rau

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

Central and south Indore are the older, settled half of the city. Palasia, Geeta Bhawan and Manorama Ganj sit on either side of AB Road near the centre, while Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar and Bijalpur carry the same road south-west towards Rau and Mhow. Many visits start at the front door rather than a gate, and the railway, not the metro, is the rail link that works today.

This guide covers two zones, Palasia & Central Indore and Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar & Rau, locality by locality, then looks at coaching and class timing.

What sets the centre and the south apart?

The Yellow Line of the Indore Metro currently runs from the Super Corridor to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, on the Vijay Nagar side. It is planned to continue via Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony and an underground station at Palasia Square towards the railway station, but none of that section is open yet. Tutors in both zones come by bus, auto, two-wheeler or train.

AB Road links the two zones. Its BRTS corridor was ordered removed by the High Court in February 2025, and the dedicated lane has since been dismantled, so plan around ordinary evening traffic on it.

Palasia & Central Indore

AB Road separates Old Palasia from New Palasia, and the wider Palasia area is known as an education hub with many coaching institutes. Around it lie the IDA sectors of LIG Colony, the societies of Geeta Bhawan and the quieter homes of Manorama Ganj, Saket Nagar and Tilak Nagar.

  • Old Palasia: densely built, with independent houses, villas and apartment buildings among shops and offices, close to Saket Square and Sanghi Colony. Palasia Square station is planned but not open. Evening parking near the squares is tight.
  • New Palasia: across AB Road from Old Palasia, one of the busiest mixed areas, home to the well-known food street. Many families live in apartment buildings with a sign-in at the entrance. The food street and markets draw crowds in the evening and at weekends, so weekday after-school slots are easier.
  • Race Course Road: kothis, independent houses, builder floors and apartment buildings near South Tukoganj and the AB Road belt. Tutors reach the door directly; start early, before traffic builds around the Palasia squares.
  • Manorama Ganj: a green, well-established residential area near Kanchan Bagh, Ratlam Kothi and Geeta Bhawan, sharing the 452001 postcode with Palasia. Most homes are houses or small buildings, so the tutor comes straight to the door.
  • Geeta Bhawan: IDA flats, cooperative group housing societies and a few hundred private houses, with Kanchan Bagh and Navratan Bagh nearby. Indore Junction is the nearest railway station. Societies register the tutor once; Geeta Bhawan Square is busy in the evening.
  • LIG Colony: lettered sectors of IDA houses and flats, plus later societies, between Palasia and Vijay Nagar, with Patnipura alongside. LIG Square is the landmark on AB Road. Most tutors come along AB Road by bus, auto or two-wheeler.
  • Saket Nagar: apartments, houses and plots near Mahaveer Nagar, Tilak Nagar and Kanadia Road, linked to the Old Palasia side by Saket Square. Apartment buildings usually have a guard who notes visitors. Roads towards Palasia and the Eastern Ring Road fill up in the evening.
  • Tilak Nagar: a mid-income area of mostly two-bedroom apartments, houses and plots near Bakhtawar Ram Nagar and Saket Nagar, with the Eastern Ring Road close by. The road through Geeta Bhawan leads to Indore Junction. Late afternoon avoids the ring-road rush.

Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar & Rau

South of the centre, AB Road runs through Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar and Bijalpur to Rau, a nagar panchayat and suburb within the Indore Metropolitan Region, where the road to Pithampur branches off. Railway stations serve much of this zone: Rajendra Nagar and Rau on the Akola to Ratlam line, plus Saifee Nagar and Lokmanya Nagar.

  • Bhawarkua: also written Bhanwarkuan, on AB Road and the Ujjain to Khandwa road, a major student hub with many coaching institutes and rented rooms. More than fifteen sectors of houses make up the residential side. Saifee Nagar is the nearest halt. Parking near the main square is difficult, so an early evening or late slot helps.
  • Sapna Sangeeta Road: a busy shopping street with apartments, builder floors and plots around it, near Agarwal Nagar, Sneh Nagar, Vidya Nagar and Khatiwala Tank. Indore Junction and Saifee Nagar are the nearest stations. Book the class before the evening market rush.
  • Navlakha: named after the Navlakha temple and known for its bus stand, where many long-distance buses start. Older houses stand beside new multi-storey buildings, and a weekly Thursday market is held here. Autos and shared vans are plentiful.
  • Sudama Nagar: a large, mid-income area in the west of the city, mostly independent houses, with Annapurna Road linking it to Lokmanya Nagar and Indore Junction stations. Tutors come straight to the door; Annapurna Road is busy in the evening.
  • Rajendra Nagar: a green locality from the 1960s, laid out in sectors of apartments and houses along AB Road, with its own railway station on the Akola to Ratlam line. Apartment buildings keep a gate register.
  • Bijalpur: once a farming area, now mid-income apartment buildings and houses around Bijalpur Square, near Dhanwantri Nagar and Prabhu Nagar. Rajendra Nagar is the nearest broad gauge station, and city buses run from the square.
  • Rau: the older town plus newer plotted colonies and apartment projects on AB Road between Rajendra Nagar and Mhow. Rau station and frequent buses to Indore, Mhow and Pithampur serve it. Many tutors travel in from Rajendra Nagar or the city.
  • Silicon City: a mid-income pocket of apartments and plotted houses in the Rau area, close to AB Road and the Rau to Pithampur road, with parts such as Saptshrangi Nagar and Sector B.

Coaching nearby: where does a home tutor fit?

Palasia and Bhawarkua both have many coaching institutes, so it is worth asking plainly: does a student who attends coaching still need a home tutor? A home tutor earns a place when there is a clear job that coaching does not do. Three jobs fit a home tutor well:

  1. School and board work. Chapters, internal assessments and board-style written answers that a batch moves past quickly.
  2. One-to-one doubt clearing. The problems left unfinished in class, worked through at home at the student's pace.
  3. A different board. A student on ICSE, ISC, IB, IGCSE or the MP Board, the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh, may need a tutor who knows that board's papers when coaching follows another.

If none applies, extra hours may add little. Our guide to home tuition fees in Indore prices each of these roles.

When should a weekday class start?

  1. Soon after school near AB Road. Geeta Bhawan Square, the Palasia squares, LIG Square and Bhawarkua all fill up in the evening.
  2. Before the market in shopping streets. Sapna Sangeeta Road, the New Palasia food street and Navlakha's Thursday market draw evening crowds.
  3. A little later in the south-west. In Rajendra Nagar, Bijalpur, Silicon City and Rau, AB Road is busiest at school and office closing times, so a slightly later start is often smoother.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a metro station in Palasia?

Not yet. Palasia Square is an approved underground station on the Yellow Line, planned on the section towards the railway station, but it has not opened. For now, tutors reach Old Palasia, New Palasia and Race Course Road by city bus, auto or two-wheeler, mostly along AB Road.

Which railway stations help tutors reach south Indore?

Rajendra Nagar and Rau stations on the Akola to Ratlam line serve the south-west, while Saifee Nagar and Indore Junction serve Bhawarkua and Sapna Sangeeta Road, and Lokmanya Nagar serves Sudama Nagar. City buses along AB Road fill the gaps, with an auto for the last part.

Do tutors need a gate pass in central Indore?

Often not. Many homes in Old Palasia, Race Course Road, Manorama Ganj and Bhawarkua are independent houses, so the tutor comes straight to the door. Apartment buildings and cooperative societies, such as those in Geeta Bhawan and New Palasia, usually keep a register at the entrance.

Are there tutors who travel to Rau and Silicon City?

Fewer tutors live in Rau itself, so many travel in from Rajendra Nagar or the city along AB Road, or by train to Rau station. Keep a fixed weekly slot away from school and office closing times, and consider online classes for specialist senior subjects.

How much does home tuition cost in central and south Indore?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo.
