Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Kochi student preparing for NEET often carries two languages and two books at once. School may be in Malayalam or English on the Kerala syllabus, or in English on CBSE or ISC; NEET's questions follow the NCERT text and its English terms. Add three subjects, a coaching timetable and a city split by backwaters, and the shape of good tutoring becomes clear: short, frequent biology checks that need no travel, and a physics tutor who can actually reach the house on a free afternoon. This page explains how families across Ernakulam, the eastern suburbs and the islands put that together. For the exam and the NCERT-first method, start with the national NEET home tutor guide.
NEET (UG) 2026 was a paper exam sat once, from 2 pm to 5 pm, with 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions. Biology accounted for 90 of them, split between botany and zoology; physics and chemistry had 45 each. The maximum was 720, with four marks for a correct choice and a deduction of one for an incorrect one. The NTA printed booklets in English, Hindi, or English with a chosen regional language. The National Medical Commission sets the syllabus. Check the current bulletin on neet.nta.nic.in for this year's rules.
Kochi's students divide mainly between the Kerala State Board, whose Higher Secondary course covers Classes 11 and 12, and the national boards. How much NCERT reading a student needs beyond school depends on which.
| System | Main gap | Tutor's weekly routine |
|---|---|---|
| Kerala State Board, English medium | Different textbooks; NEET questions use NCERT's lines, figures and examples | NCERT chapter read beside the state chapter; a running list of differences; recall tested from NCERT |
| Kerala State Board, Malayalam medium | The same, plus English scientific terms if the student will answer in English | Recall checks in English terms from the first chapter, with the familiar term alongside until it is automatic |
| CBSE | Little content gap | Precision, closed-book recall and timed questions |
| ISC | Different books and sequence | Fixed NCERT reading slots each week |
The 2026 bulletin required Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English in the qualifying exam, and listed the booklet languages; check the current one. Board schemes and dates come only from official state notices. For board-side help, see our Kochi biology, physics and chemistry home tutor pages.
In a city where a harbour crossing or a jammed junction can double a tutor's travel, it pays to decide which sessions need a person in the room.
Much of the zone sits on the Blue Line, with Kaloor, Town Hall, Ernakulam South and Kadavanthra stations. Thevara has no station, so the auto leg is longer; give the tutor a landmark. Avoid Kadavanthra Junction at peak hours and on stadium event days.
The Blue Line's first stretch runs from Aluva through Kalamassery to Edapally and Palarivattom, so tutors along it arrive with a short auto. Cheranallur has a water metro terminal; container traffic on the highway there and shift changes in Kalamassery are the times to avoid.
No metro station yet; the Pink Line is under construction. Kakkanad relies on the Seaport–Airport Road and the water metro from Vyttila. Families in Thammanam and Vennala are better placed, with Vyttila and Palarivattom stations an auto ride away. Book after the IT-park rush.
The Vyttila hub gathers buses, the Blue Line and the water metro, and the line continues to Thrippunithura Terminal. Maradu uses Thaikoodam and Pettah stations plus an auto; its high-rise complexes register visitors at the gate, so set that up before the demo.
No metro this side of the harbour. The water metro reaches Fort Kochi, Vypin and, since October 2025, Mattancherry, so a tutor from Ernakulam can come by boat and walk in. For a specialist subject, a local home tutor plus online classes often works well.
Every area is listed on the Kochi home tuition page. Tell us the nearest metro station or water metro terminal when you ask for tutors.
An illustrative Class 12 student on the Kerala syllabus, English medium, living in a Maradu tower, with coaching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Biology is reasonable; physics and inorganic chemistry are costing marks.
| When | Session |
|---|---|
| Tuesday, 4:30 pm, at home | Physics, 90 minutes; the tutor rides the Blue Line to Thaikoodam and takes an auto |
| Wednesday, after coaching, online | Inorganic chemistry recall, 30 minutes |
| Daily | NCERT biology reading on the revision cycle, with a fortnightly online recall check |
| Saturday, 2 pm to 5 pm | Full paper mock at home |
| Sunday morning, online | Mock review and next week's targets |
The physics tutor makes one journey a week, at an hour when the Vyttila and Kundannoor junctions are clear. A student in Palarivattom, a station away from many tutors, might take two shorter home sessions instead. On an island such as Vypin, the same plan works with a physics tutor who lives on that side of the harbour, or one who comes across on the water metro at a fixed hour each week.
| Year | Focus | Sessions a week (typical) |
|---|---|---|
| Class 11 | NCERT biology from the first chapter, with the differences list; English terms if the medium differs; mechanics and the mole concept | 2 to 3 |
| Class 12 | Class 11 revision on a monthly cycle; timed physics; board-style answers in the weeks before the board examination | 3 to 5 |
| Repeat year | Last year's mocks diagnosed by subject and cause; the weakest subject rebuilt; full paper every week | 3 to 6 |
For a repeat year, the 2026 bulletin set a minimum age of 17 and no upper limit; confirm in the current one. Our guides to high-yield NEET physics and important NEET chemistry chapters help set priorities.
Because the 2026 exam was on paper in the afternoon, sit weekend mocks from two to five, on printed papers with a separate answer sheet, phone out of the room. Mark plus four and minus one, and log wrong answers, blanks and minutes for each subject. Rising wrong answers mean the student needs a firm rule for leaving doubtful questions; rising blanks mean content or speed. Photograph the answer sheet and send it before the review, so the tutor's time goes on explanation rather than supervision.
| Situation | What tends to help |
|---|---|
| Malayalam-medium student starting Class 11 | Recall checks in English terms from day one; NCERT read beside the state chapter |
| Island family, physics weak | A tutor from your side of the harbour, or one coming by water metro, on a fixed weekly slot |
| Kakkanad family, both parents on office hours | Weekend home physics; weekday biology and chemistry checks online |
| In coaching, scores flat in all three | A few weeks of mock analysis first; then a tutor for the subject it points to |
| Preparing without coaching | Subject tutors, a written chapter plan from the NMC syllabus, weekly paper mocks |
Weighing coaching against a tutor-only route? Our guide NEET preparation: coaching or a home tutor was written for Gurugram, but its comparison of structure, tests and travel time applies here too.

Yes. NEET questions follow the NCERT text, so the student should read each NCERT chapter beside the Higher Secondary textbook, with a tutor listing the differences and testing recall from NCERT every week. Board answers still need practice before board exams; take the board's scheme and dates only from official notices.
It matters for preparation. The 2026 bulletin offered booklets in English, Hindi or English with a regional language; check the current list. If the student will answer in English, recall checks should use English terms from Class 11, with the familiar term alongside until the English one comes automatically.
Yes. The water metro runs from High Court to Fort Kochi and Vypin, and Mattancherry joined in October 2025, so a tutor from Ernakulam can come by boat and walk in. A tutor living on your side of the harbour is the other option. Specialist subjects can run online between visits.
Mainly physics, because the tutor needs to watch how a numerical is started. Physical chemistry numericals also suit the table. Biology recall checks and inorganic chemistry work well online, which saves a tutor's journey across junctions like Vyttila or Edappally and lets the family pick a stronger physics specialist.
Sit them on paper from 2 pm to 5 pm, matching the 2026 exam, with a separate answer sheet and no phone. Mark plus four and minus one, and log wrong answers, blanks and time per subject. Send a photo of the sheet before the review so the tutor arrives prepared.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with NEET toward the upper end. Each tutor sets their own fee, visible before the demo. Online biology checks cost less than home visits, so a mixed plan usually keeps the monthly total lower.
Yes. We send two or three matched tutors with their fees and the first class is a free demo. Ask the biology tutor to test a chapter from memory, and bring stuck physics questions. If the fit is wrong, we arrange another demo, and switching tutor later is free too.
