What home tuition costs in Gangtok

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Gangtok: Classes 11 and 12, the board paper and the entrance tests

Physics is the subject where a Class 11 student in Gangtok most often goes from confident to lost within a term. Vectors, graphs and calculus arrive at once, the numericals get longer, and the board paper still wants neat derivations and labelled diagrams. If JEE or NEET is also on the plan, the same chapters have to be practised a second way, fast and objective. The point of a home physics tutor is to keep both tracks moving without letting either swallow the week. We shortlist two or three physics tutors familiar with your child's board and target exam who can also reach your part of the city. Fees are shown first, and the opening class is a free demo.

Board marks, JEE or NEET: what is the physics actually for?

Gangtok's schools follow CBSE or CISCE, so a senior student is usually writing a CBSE or an ISC physics paper. Beyond that, some are aiming at an engineering or medical entrance. The chapters overlap, but the scoring does not, and the tutor's weekly plan should follow the target that matters most.

Physics in the exams Gangtok students take after Class 10: its size, the marking and the habit each rewards
ExamPhysics in itMarkingHabit it rewards
CBSE Class 12 (042)A 70-mark theory paper of 33 compulsory questions, plus 30 practical marksWritten answers; no calculatorClean derivations, diagrams and reading a case passage
ISC Class 12A theory paper alongside practical work and a project, set by CISCEWritten answersFull reasoning, not one-line answers
JEE Main (2026 pattern)25 of the 75 questions in Paper 1, five of them numerical-answer+4 right, −1 wrongMulti-step problems under time, then error review
JEE AdvancedFor 2026, open only to the first 2,50,000 JEE Main candidatesSet each year by the organising instituteProblems that join several ideas
NEET (UG), 2026 pattern45 of 180 questions, 180 of 720 marks, on pen and paper+4 right, −1 wrongNCERT-level accuracy and fewer guesses

The entrance syllabus comes from the conducting body, not the school board, and it can keep topics the board has dropped, so check NTA's current bulletin before crossing anything off. Our topic-wise JEE physics plan and the NEET physics chapters worth the most time help set priorities; the physics tutor for JEE and physics tutor for NEET pages explain the matching.

The 70 theory marks in CBSE Class 12 physics

The 2026-27 sample paper keeps last session's design. Fourteen NCERT chapters are marked in four groups:

CBSE Class 12 physics theory, 2026-27: the four mark groups and what a tutor should do with each
GroupMarksTutor's focus
Electricity and magnetism (electrostatics to alternating current)33Field and circuit pictures first, then the algebra; nearly half the paper
Optics with electromagnetic waves18Arrowed rays and correct sign conventions in every diagram
Modern physics (dual nature, atoms, nuclei)12Short numericals done fast and with units
Semiconductor electronics7The current syllabus only; transistors and logic gates are no longer in it

Section A has sixteen one-mark items, twelve multiple choice and four assertion–reason. Section B asks five two-mark questions, C seven three-mark ones, D two four-mark case studies and E three five-mark long answers. Only about 38% of marks reward recall, constants are given, and calculators are not permitted. There is a single main Class 12 board exam, and its 2027 dates will be published on cbse.gov.in. The Class 12 physics strategies article collects the derivations that return year after year, and the Class 12 physics tutor page sets out a board-year plan.

Thirty practical marks that are easy to neglect

The practical exam is the most predictable part of Class 12 physics. Two experiments earn 14 (seven each, one from each section), the record 5, an activity 3, the investigatory project 3 and the viva 5. For the file, a student needs eight or more experiments split evenly across the two sections, six or more activities split the same way, and the project write-up.

Apparatus stays at school, but a home tutor can check each record entry for aim, diagram and observation table, go over precautions and sources of error, and hold a short mock viva: why several readings are taken, what the slope of a graph means, why a particular range was chosen. A short session once a fortnight is enough.

One way to solve every physics problem

The fastest improvement in senior physics usually comes from a fixed solving routine rather than more problems. A tutor should expect the same four lines every time until they are automatic:

  1. A diagram with directions, axes and known quantities marked.
  2. The principle in words, such as conservation of energy or of momentum, before any symbol.
  3. Substitution with units on each line, so an error shows up where it happens.
  4. A sense check of the sign and size of the answer.

Keep wrong attempts rather than erasing them. A short "error page" at the back of the notebook, one line per mistake, tells the tutor more about the next lesson than any test score does. Bring it, or the last two school tests, to the free demo.

Why Class 11 is the year to start

Class 11 mechanics is built on vectors, graphs and early calculus, and the same tools return throughout Class 12 and every entrance paper. A student who lets them slide spends the board year repairing foundations instead of revising. Starting with a tutor in the first term of Class 11 usually costs less overall than a rescue in Class 12. The physics tutor for Class 11 page and our stream choice guide say more.

ISC, IB and IGCSE physics

  • ISC. CISCE assesses practical work and a project alongside the theory paper, and examiners expect fuller reasoning than a one-line answer. Confirm the tutor knows the syllabus for your child's exam year.
  • IB Diploma. Since its first exams in May 2025, the course has been organised into five themes labelled by letter, without options or a Paper 3. Written papers carry 80% and an independent investigation 20%; recommended teaching hours are 150 for SL and 240 for HL. See the IB physics SL and HL guide.
  • Cambridge IGCSE. Students sit either Core or Extended papers. A student moving onto CBSE or ISC Class 11 afterwards usually needs extra time on vectors and graphs.

ISC, IB and IGCSE physics specialists are scarce in any one city, so an online tutor is often the realistic choice, with a local tutor checking written practice if you want someone at the desk.

Four Gangtok localities: keeping a late physics lesson steady

Senior students often get home late, which pushes physics into the evening, when the main roads are busiest. Whether the slot holds depends on the tutor's route. Compare tutors locality by locality on our Gangtok page.

Four Gangtok localities: the setting, the way in for a tutor, and a timing tip for evening physics
LocalitySettingWay inTiming tip
Tibet RoadOne of the most densely built commercial streets, with homes above or behind shopsOn foot from the nearest taxi point; give the building name and a shop or junction as a landmarkBusy with shoppers in the evening and in holiday seasons, so fix a weekday slot in advance
DeoraliA fast-growing commercial and institutional hub on the highway, with flats above shops and houses on the lanesShared taxis along the highway from Tadong or the centreThe junction is among the busiest in the city; give a landmark on the correct side of it
TathangchenA mainly residential ward on the eastern side, with houses and small buildings across the slopeTaxi or two-wheeler, then the exact path or steps from the roadKeep a backup online session for weeks of heavy rain
BurtukA growing suburban ward closely linked to SicheyShared taxi or two-wheeler, then a walk; share a phone number before the first classA tutor already teaching in Sichey or along the bypass is the easiest regular match

On evenings when school, tests or rain run late, swap that lesson for an online hour with the same tutor; the online tutor for Gangtok page explains the set-up. The zone page for Central Gangtok and Tibet Road and the Gangtok home tuition guide add local timing.

What does a physics home tutor in Gangtok charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, shaped by the goal (the board, JEE Main, JEE Advanced or NEET), how often they have taught it, the evening journey to your home and the sessions booked each week. An online rate from the same tutor can differ. Every fee is visible before the demo; see the pricing guide and our Gangtok home tuition fees article.

Physics Home Tutor in Gangtok: common questions

How is a physics home tutor's fee set for a Gangtok senior student?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. A physics tutor's fee depends on the goal, from the board to JEE Main, JEE Advanced or NEET, the evening journey and weekly sessions, all shown before the demo.

What should a Gangtok family share to get a physics tutor shortlist?

A Gangtok family should share the class, board, what the physics is for, any coaching days, locality with a landmark and open evenings. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, a later switch is free, and an online plan is offered if nobody can reach you.

How are the 70 theory marks in CBSE Class 12 physics grouped for Gangtok students?

For Gangtok students, electricity and magnetism takes 33 of the 70 CBSE Class 12 physics theory marks, nearly half the paper. Optics with electromagnetic waves carries 18, modern physics 12 and semiconductor electronics 7. All 33 questions are compulsory, about 38% of marks reward recall, and practical work adds 30.

How many entrance-exam questions ride on physics for a Gangtok aspirant aiming at engineering or medicine?

For a Gangtok aspirant, physics was a third of JEE Main 2026 Paper 1, 25 questions with five needing a numerical answer. In NEET (UG) 2026 it was a quarter of the paper, 45 questions worth 180 of 720 marks. Both gave four marks for a right answer and took one for a wrong one.

What goes into a Class 12 physics practical record for a Gangtok CBSE student?

A Gangtok CBSE student's Class 12 physics record needs at least eight experiments and six activities, split evenly across the two sections, plus the project write-up. The record earns 5 of the 30 practical marks; two experiments give 14, the activity and project 3 each, and the viva 5. A fortnightly home check is enough.

Are ISC or IB physics tutors available for Gangtok students?

ISC, IB and IGCSE physics tutors are scarce for Gangtok students, as in any single city, so an online tutor is often the practical answer. Name the course and exam year in your request. A local tutor can still check written practice at home if you want someone at the desk.

At what point should a Gangtok student bring in a physics tutor?

A Gangtok student usually gains most by bringing in a physics tutor early in Class 11. Mechanics depends on vectors, graphs and early calculus, and those tools return in every Class 12 chapter and entrance paper. Fixing them in the first term costs less than a rescue in the middle of the board year.

Can evening physics lessons hold steady near the Deorali junction in Gangtok?

Evening physics lessons near the Deorali junction in Gangtok can hold if the tutor lives on the same side of it, since it is among the city's busiest points. Agree a fixed slot with margin and give a landmark on the correct side. Move that day to an online hour when the evening runs late.

What problem-solving routine should a Gangtok physics tutor drill?

A Gangtok physics tutor should drill the same four lines on every problem until they are automatic. Start with a diagram with directions and known quantities, then the principle in words, then substitution with units on each line, and end with a sense check of sign and size. Keep wrong attempts on an error page and bring it to the demo.

When does online physics tuition make more sense than a home visit in Gangtok?

Online physics tuition makes more sense in Gangtok on evenings when school, tests or rain run late, and for ISC, IB or IGCSE specialists who live elsewhere. A home visit stays useful for watching derivations and long numericals line by line. Swapping a late lesson for an online hour with the same tutor keeps the week intact.
