Most families in Hanamkonda, Kazipet and Warangal who say "State Board" mean two different offices. The Directorate of Government Examinations runs the SSC at the end of Class 10, and the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education runs the two Intermediate years, usually studied at a junior college. Both have reshaped their papers recently: the SSC now has six papers, and first-year Intermediate subjects carry internal assessment from 2026-27. This page sets out what the official orders and rule books say, where a home tutor helps at each stage, how tutors reach different parts of the tri-city, and what to check in a demo. Every paper and mark detail below comes from the two bodies' websites; confirm it there before you plan the year.
For a parent, the point is that the two stages need different strengths. Years of SSC maths teaching do not by themselves prepare someone for the IA and IB papers, and the reverse is just as true. Ask which stage a tutor has taught most recently.
A government order of December 2022 cut the SSC from eleven papers to six from the 2022-23 academic year. Each subject is worth 100: 80 from the written paper and 20 from four formative assessments in school. A 2025 proceeding of the Director of School Education, circulated among others to the regional office in Warangal, kept that 80:20 split from 2025-26.
| Paper | Written | Formative | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| First language | 80 | 20 | Commonly Telugu; Urdu and Hindi among other options |
| Second language | 80 | 20 | Counts in the overall grade like any other paper |
| Third language (English) | 80 | 20 | A single paper |
| Mathematics | 80 | 20 | A single paper |
| Science | 40 Physical + 40 Biological | 10 + 10 | Two question booklets and two answer books; since 2024, written on different days, ninety minutes each |
| Social Studies | 80 | 20 | A single paper |
Papers other than science run for three hours including reading time. The 2014 pass rule still cited in later orders asks for 35% in each subject, with a floor of 28 marks on the 80-mark written paper. For tuition, the science change is the one to plan around: a child now sits two short, dense papers on different days, and a weakness in one cannot hide behind the other. Our science home tutor in Warangal and maths home tutor in Warangal pages go into those subjects.
The 2014 reform order, which the newer orders build on, describes the paper the state wants, and it explains a lot about how a good tutor should teach:
Old papers are still useful for timing and layout. Drilling them as if questions will recur, though, prepares a child for an exam the orders rule out. The better habit is to teach a chapter and then ask the child to explain a fresh situation in their own words, which is exactly what the written paper rewards.
The 20 formative marks are the average of four assessments across the year. The 2014 order lists four kinds of evidence, five marks each: a subject activity (in science, experiments written up in a record; in maths, posing and presenting problems; in languages, reading and reflecting), the child's own notebook answers to the lesson exercises, project work, and a slip test. The order says children should think and write on their own rather than copy from guides, and heads of school must certify the marks against the records.
So the line for a tutor is clear. Talking through an experiment, helping a child plan a project, or setting a practice slip test is useful. Writing the notebook answers or doing the project is not, and it puts the marks at risk.
A 2018 state law, the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Act, requires Telugu to be taught from Class 1 up to Class 10 in all schools in Telangana, State Board or not, English medium or not. Many Warangal homes speak Telugu while children study in English medium, so the gap is often in written English rather than Telugu: answers that are correct but too short. At SSC level each language paper carries the same 100 marks as maths, which makes it worth steady attention. In Intermediate, English adds practical tests, explained further down. Our English home tutor in Warangal page covers both stages.
The board's 2026-27 rule book for first-year subjects refers to the MPC and MEC groups by name, and its website lists papers for CEC and ACE commerce and accountancy. The TG EAPCET 2026 notification uses MPC and BiPC for the maths and biology science groups. The board publishes material for Mathematics IA and IB (first year) and IIA and IIB (second year), Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, History, Political Science, Commerce and Accountancy, English and several second languages.
Group choice decides the entrance route. MPC students apply for TG EAPCET's engineering stream and often JEE; BiPC students apply for its agriculture and pharmacy stream and usually NEET. The EAPCET syllabus says it is in tune with the board's Intermediate syllabus, which is why board work and state-entrance work overlap so much. See our JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Warangal, and for subject help, physics, chemistry and biology.
Each paper: 60 theory and 15 internal. The 15 split three ways: 5 from averaging the higher two of four unit tests, 5 for an activity record (ten or more activities, every chapter represented), and 5 for a compulsory activity-based problem-solving round with viva near January or February. Theory and internal are each passed on their own (21 of 60; 5 of 15). In the MEC group, IA and IB are examined together for 80, with 20 internal.
Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology each have a 15-mark external practical of two hours, ordinarily in the first week of February, run by an examiner the board appoints. The certified record book must be produced. A practical cannot be retaken for improvement.
80 for theory and 20 for practical tests and the record, passed separately. In the first year the tests are communicative functions, Just a Minute, role play and listening; second-year tests are describing, presentation skills, group discussion and listening comprehension.
Useful help includes mock viva questions, discussing an activity before it is recorded, and timing a one-minute talk. Filling in the activity record or the practical record is the student's job, and the rules require lecturers to certify records.
| Year | Where the tutor's effort goes | Sessions usually needed |
|---|---|---|
| Class 9 | Class 9 finals follow the SSC's six-paper pattern, so this is the year to build written answers in the child's own words and treat the two science parts separately | Twice weekly |
| Class 10 | Unseen application questions, full papers against the clock (both ninety-minute science papers included), no neglect of languages | Two to three weekly |
| Intermediate, year one | Getting used to group subjects while keeping unit tests, the activity record and lab work on schedule | A weekly slot per main subject, maths often twice |
| Intermediate, year two | IIA and IIB or second-year science, lab and viva readiness, entrance papers | Rising to two per main subject near the exams |

The Telangana SSC has six papers, after a 2022 government order replaced the older eleven from 2022-23. They are first language, second language, English, mathematics, science and social studies, each worth 80 written marks and 20 formative. Science is split into Physical and Biological Science, 40 marks each, written on separate days.
Old SSC papers help with timing and layout, but they should not be drilled as if questions will repeat. The state's 2014 reform order says questions from earlier public papers are not to be repeated and textbook exercise questions are not set as they stand, so practise fresh application questions too.
The 20 formative marks are the average of four assessments through the year. Each draws on a subject activity such as a science record, the child's own notebook answers, project work and a slip test, five marks each. Heads of school certify the marks against the records, so the work must be the child's own.
From 2026-27, first-year Maths IA and IB in the MPC group each carry 60 theory marks and 15 internal marks, passed separately. The internal part comes from unit tests, a record of at least ten activities and a compulsory activity-based test with a viva. In the MEC group, IA and IB together carry 80 plus 20.
No, the board's 2026-27 rules say there is no improvement examination for practicals. Each first-year science has a 15-mark external practical of two hours, ordinarily in the first week of February, and the certified record book must be produced. Steady lab work through the year is the only way to secure it.
The English practical in Telangana Intermediate is worth 20 marks, from test items and the record book, beside an 80-mark theory paper, and each part is passed separately. First-year tests cover communicative functions, Just a Minute, role play and listening; second-year tests cover describing, presentation skills, group discussion and listening.
State Board tutors reach Kadipikonda from the Kazipet side, Deshaipet from the older parts of Warangal along Desaipet Road, and Rangasaipet from the southern side near Hunter Road. Give the house number, the lane or colony and a well-known junction, and send a location pin. Both Rangasaipet spellings work on the form.
Yes, the TG EAPCET 2026 engineering syllabus says it is in tune with the Intermediate syllabus of the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education. That is why MPC and BiPC students in Warangal often prepare for the board and the state entrance together, with one tutor planning both.
