Maths tutor jobs in Nagpur

Nagpur is a city where the board decides the maths lesson before the tutor does. A Class 10 student in Dharampeth may be writing the Maharashtra State Board's SSC, whose maths comes as two 40-mark papers with 20 internal marks, while a neighbour two lanes away follows CBSE and works from NCERT and the board's sample papers. A good Nagpur maths tutor can tell within ten minutes of a demo which of the two they are dealing with, and adjusts the pace, the notation and the kind of practice that follows.

This page is for maths teachers, engineering and science graduates, and experienced tutors who want home or online maths work in Nagpur. Joining NXTutors is free. You choose the classes, the boards, the medium you teach in, the zones you will travel to and your own fee. What we cannot do is tell you how many maths requests will arrive in your locality; the live list on this page shows what is actually open, and nothing here promises students or income.

Who asks for maths tutors in Nagpur

Maths requests in Nagpur come from three directions. The largest is the board years: SSC students in Class 9 and 10 who need the algebra and geometry papers held together, and CBSE or ICSE students preparing for their own Class 10 papers. For state-board families the medium matters as much as the board, because a student taught in Marathi at school may want a tutor who can explain a geometry proof in Marathi and then help them write it in the form the board expects. Say on your profile which medium you can teach in, and do not tick one you are not comfortable with.

The second stream is Classes 11 and 12. The city guide notes that senior science students tend to struggle most with Physics and Maths, and HSC, CBSE and ISC students all ask for a subject specialist at this stage rather than one tutor for everything. Calculus, vectors, three-dimensional geometry, probability and matrices are where the requests usually point. Some of these students are also preparing for MHT-CET or JEE Main alongside coaching, and want a tutor who can take the coaching sheet they could not finish and work through it with them.

The third stream is younger children, Classes 5 to 8, where parents want number sense, fractions, early algebra and tidy written work rather than speed. These requests are often for two lessons a week near home and suit tutors who live in the same zone. A smaller group of IB and Cambridge IGCSE families in Nagpur pair a local tutor with an online specialist from elsewhere, so if you teach Maths AA, Maths AI or IGCSE Extended maths, listing online teaching lets them find you.

Where in Nagpur the work is

Nagpur splits into five NXTutors zones around Sitabuldi, where the Orange and Aqua metro lines cross. Central West Nagpur, from Dharampeth and Shankar Nagar to Dhantoli and Civil Lines, is the easiest zone to reach without a vehicle: Shankar Nagar Square, LAD Square, Congress Nagar and the Civil Lines stations sit inside it. Wardha Road is the other metro-friendly zone, with Ujjwal Nagar (Somalwada) and Airport stations serving Manish Nagar, Besa and Khamla, while Hingna Road and Ring Road has Subhash Nagar and Rachana Ring Road Junction stations plus an auto for Pratap Nagar, Trimurti Nagar and Jaitala.

North Nagpur and East and South-East Nagpur are road zones. Koradi Road, Mankapur and Zingabai Takli are mostly beyond walking reach of a station, and Manewada and Hudkeshwar have no metro at all, so maths tutors with a two-wheeler, or who already live there, keep those slots more easily. A practical pattern for a maths tutor is one zone for home lessons on weekdays, with online lessons for students across the city on the evenings when the Ring Road or Bhandara Road is at its slowest.

What families in Nagpur expect

  • Clear knowledge of the board in front of you: the SSC's two maths papers and internal marks, NCERT and CBSE sample papers, or ICSE's long written answers.
  • Ability to teach in the medium the family names, or honesty on your profile about which medium you teach in.
  • Step-by-step working on paper, so method marks are not lost on board papers.
  • For Classes 11 and 12, comfort with calculus, vectors, 3D geometry and probability, and the patience to rebuild weak Class 11 topics first.
  • For MHT-CET or JEE students, the habit of working through coaching sheets and test mistakes rather than starting a parallel course.
  • Punctual arrival: a metro station or route you actually use, and a slot set outside the Wardha Road and Ring Road peaks.
  • For apartments and government colonies, willingness to give your name at the gate; for plotted houses, asking for the lane and plot number.

How to get picked

Your profile is read by parents who rarely know maths themselves, so make it concrete. Instead of "all classes, all boards", write "SSC Class 9–10 maths in Marathi and English medium, CBSE Class 11–12 calculus and vectors, online for MHT-CET doubt work". Add the Nagpur zones you can genuinely reach and the hours you keep free. A family in Manish Nagar searching after school will see a tutor who lists the Wardha Road zone and a 5 pm slot long before one with no availability shown.

The demo is an ordinary lesson on the chapter the student is doing now, with a parent at home. Start with three or four short questions to find the actual gap, then let the student do most of the writing. Before you leave, tell the parent in two sentences what you found and what the next month covers. Families can switch tutors later at no cost, so steady progress keeps a maths student far longer than a polished first hour. See how you get paid in the section below before you set your fee.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Which maths boards do Nagpur families usually ask for?

Mainly the Maharashtra State Board's SSC and HSC, then CBSE and CISCE's ICSE and ISC. A smaller group follows the IB or Cambridge IGCSE and often adds an online specialist. List each board you can teach separately, with classes and medium.

Do I need to teach in Marathi to get state-board maths students?

No, but state-board families give their medium with the request, and they are matched to tutors who teach in it. If you can explain maths in Marathi as well as English, say so on your profile; if not, list English medium only.

Can I take maths students only near my metro station?

Yes. Choose only the zones you can reach. Central West Nagpur and Wardha Road are the easiest for metro travellers; Hingna Road and Ring Road works with an auto from Subhash Nagar or Rachana Ring Road Junction. You can leave North Nagpur and the south-east off your list.

Will I be asked to help with MHT-CET or JEE maths?

Some Class 11 and 12 families ask for it alongside coaching. The useful role is clearing the coaching backlog and keeping board and entrance revision on one plan. Only list entrance maths if you can solve that level comfortably, and take exam dates from the official notice each year.

When do Nagpur maths requests usually start?

CBSE's session opens in April and Maharashtra state-board schools usually reopen in June, so many families look for a tutor in those months. Others start in winter for paper practice before the board exams. Keep your availability current so a request in any month can reach you.

What does it cost a maths tutor to join?

Nothing. Joining and onboarding are free and you start on the Free plan with monthly lead credits. Paid plans are optional. You set your own fee, and families see it before the free demo.
