Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Many students meet economics in Class 10 as a few chapters inside social science, learnt as facts and short answers. In Class 11 it becomes a full subject with its own diagrams, statistics and way of arguing, and the habits that worked before stop working. Our Surat city page says Class 11 lays the ground for everything after, and in economics that is exactly where a tutor helps most. This page explains what changes, what each board examines, how a tutor reaches each part of Surat, when online lessons make sense, and what to test during the free demo lesson. Every board is covered in more depth in the national economics home tutor guide.
| Class 10 habit | What Class 11–12 economics asks for | How a tutor builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Learning definitions roughly | Exact definitions using the textbook's terms | Short weekly definition tests, marked strictly |
| Few or no diagrams | Labelled diagrams that carry the argument: demand and supply, costs, income determination | The student draws every diagram from memory, then explains it |
| Little arithmetic | Statistics, index numbers, national income and the multiplier | Tabulated working and one line on what the result means |
| Listing points | Explaining cause and effect, then judging which effect matters more | "Why?" and "So what?" after every point |
| Short answers only | Long answers and, on some boards, essays or a project | One full answer per session, marked against the board's criteria |
Take a simple question: the price of tea rises, so what happens to the demand for coffee? A Class 10 style answer says "it goes up" and stops. A senior answer explains that tea and coffee are substitutes, so at every price of coffee people now want more of it; draws the coffee demand curve shifting to the right, not a movement along it; and ends with a judgement that the size of the shift depends on how closely buyers see the two drinks as alternatives. The content is the same. The marks are not, and that gap is what a tutor closes.
A student who makes these changes in the first term of Class 11 usually finds Class 12 manageable. One who carries Class 10 habits into Class 12 tends to know the content and still lose marks. If your child is still choosing a stream, read how to choose a Class 11 stream and what a Class 11 home tutor works on; both pages were written for Gurugram families, yet the stream questions apply equally in Surat.
| Board | Class 11 or first year | Class 12 or final year |
|---|---|---|
| GSEB | The board's own textbook and paper, in the student's medium; follow the board's circulars for the pattern | |
| CBSE 030 | Statistics for Economics 40, Introductory Microeconomics 40; 20-mark project | Introductory Macroeconomics 40, Indian Economic Development 40; 20-mark project |
| ISC 856 | Basic concepts, Indian economic development, statistics | Micro theory, income and employment, money and banking, balance of payments, public finance, national income |
| Cambridge | IGCSE 0455: multiple choice (30%) and structured questions (70%) | AS & A Level 9708: objective papers plus data-response questions and essays |
| IB Diploma | SL: Paper 1, Paper 2 and a three-commentary portfolio. HL adds Paper 3, a policy paper | |
In ISC, the theory paper is 80 marks: 20 compulsory short-answer marks and five 12-mark answers from eight, with two 10-mark projects. In CBSE, Class 12 macroeconomics gives the most marks to income and employment (12) and national income (10). Board-wide help for the city is on our CBSE tutors in Surat and ICSE and ISC tutors in Surat pages.
Many Surat students are on GSEB, which holds the state's public examinations at the end of Classes 10 and 12. Commerce students there learn economics from a textbook the board itself prescribes, written in Gujarati, English or another medium. That is why our city page asks for the medium with every request: a Gujarati-medium student must label diagrams and write definitions in Gujarati, and a tutor explaining in another language leaves the student translating during the exam. The board revises its paper pattern, so take any detail from its circulars. A tutor who works from past GSEB papers in your child's medium, and keeps pace with the school's tests, is the right match.
The Surat hub lists IB and IGCSE among the boards it covers, and suggests that families on the northern edge of the city often pair a nearby tutor with an online specialist for senior papers. For IB Economics, SL students sit Paper 1 (30%) and Paper 2 (40%) and submit three commentaries on news extracts (30%); HL students add Paper 3 and the weights become 20%, 30%, 30% and 20%. A tutor may teach the commentary skill with practice articles but must never write any part of the portfolio. At Cambridge, IGCSE rewards precise terms; at A Level, essays come without guiding parts, so planning becomes the skill. See our IB tutors in Surat page for the programme more widely.
It can be. Economics / Business Economics, code 309, appears among the domain subjects in NTA's 2026 CUET (UG) bulletin. Each domain test there has 50 questions, every one compulsory, to be done in an hour, and the syllabus is NCERT's for Class 12. A GSEB or ISC student aiming for a central university should map that NCERT syllabus against the school course to find any missing chapters, and check the bulletin issued for the year of application. Fast multiple-choice practice belongs in the last stretch of Class 12, after long answers are reliable.
Any family can request an economics tutor. With the metro not yet open to passengers, tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or Sitilink bus, so we look first on your side of the Tapi and widen from there.
| Zone | Usual route in | Arrange beforehand |
|---|---|---|
| Adajan, Pal and Rander, e.g. Pal | A tutor already on the western bank; BRTS from Adajan Patiya or Pal RTO | Tutor's name and flat number at the society gate |
| Central Surat, Athwa and Ghod Dod Road, e.g. Majura Gate | Central, so tutors from Adajan, Piplod and City Light can reach it | A slot straight after school, before the evening shopping crowd |
| Piplod, Vesu and Dumas Road, e.g. Piplod and City Light | BRTS along Gaurav Path; autos and two-wheelers elsewhere | A standing visitor entry at the gated society |
| Udhna, Althan and Pandesara, e.g. Bhatar | Rail and bus are strong here; tutors from City Light or Vesu need not cross the river | A time after industrial shift traffic clears |
| Katargam, Varachha and Sarthana, e.g. Mota Varachha | BRTS via Canal Road to Sarthana; two-wheeler for inner lanes | An evening slot after diamond-unit shift traffic; gate entry in newer societies |

Home lessons suit the first months of Class 11, when a tutor beside the notebook can catch slips in statistics and untidy diagrams as they happen. Online lessons suit diagram and essay work just as well, since both can be shared and marked on screen, and they widen the choice for IB and Cambridge students. A mix is common: a home lesson for numericals, an online one for written answers. Families across the river from their most suitable tutor often find that mix keeps lessons regular. Our home or online tutor article compares the two.
Not the right person? Tell us, and a demo with another tutor from your shortlist follows at no cost, because switching is free. Our checklist for parents at a demo class suggests further questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and you will see every fee on your shortlist before any demo. Our Surat home tuition fees guide and pricing guide explain the range.
In the request, include your child's class, board and medium, which of the five habits worries you, the locality and nearest junction or BRTS stop, preferred days, whether lessons should be at home or online, and the budget. You get two or three matched economics tutors back, and your first class with the one you pick is a free demo. Every tutor who joins passes an ID check before the Verified badge appears, and the tutor profiles are open to browse. Commerce students who also take accounts can see accountancy tutors in Surat; for English, English home tutors in Surat. Economics teachers can find students on Surat tuition jobs.

A Surat family should include the class, board and medium, the habit that worries you, locality and nearest junction or BRTS stop, preferred days, home or online, and the budget. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Surat students lose Class 11 economics marks by carrying Class 10 habits: rough definitions, few diagrams and short lists of points. In Class 11 it becomes a full subject with exact definitions, labelled diagrams, statistics and cause-and-effect reasoning. Students who keep Class 10 habits often know the content but lose marks.
Yes, a Gujarati-medium GSEB commerce student in Surat can get an economics tutor who labels diagrams and defines terms in Gujarati. We ask for the medium on every GSEB request. The tutor should use your child's textbook terms, because definitions and diagram labels are marked in the paper's language. Follow the board's circulars for the current pattern.
Surat students can request IB or A Level economics tutors, matched on the exact course and level. Families on the northern edge often pair a nearby tutor with an online specialist for senior papers, and economics suits online teaching well. Every IB commentary must remain the student's own work.
An evening slot after the diamond-unit shift rush usually suits an economics home lesson in Mota Varachha, Surat, since shift times shape traffic in Katargam and Varachha. Newer societies note visitors at the gate on the first day, so share the tutor's name before the demo class.
For Surat students, CBSE Class 11 economics in 2026-27 has two 40-mark parts, Statistics for Economics and Introductory Microeconomics, plus a 20-mark project. Statistics worries students who dropped maths, but it is careful arithmetic in tables followed by interpretation, which a tutor can make one of the most reliable parts.
Yes, economics is in CUET for Surat Class 12 students: Economics / Business Economics, code 309, is a domain subject in NTA's 2026 CUET (UG) bulletin. It has 50 compulsory questions in an hour on NCERT's Class 12 syllabus. GSEB and ISC students should map NCERT against their course first.
A Surat student should answer an economics substitutes question by explaining the link, drawing the shift and giving a judgement. If tea's price rises, coffee demand rises at every price, so the coffee demand curve shifts right, not a movement along it. How far it shifts depends on how close substitutes buyers see them.
Surat Class 11 statistics lessons usually go better at the table in the first months, when a tutor beside the notebook catches statistics slips and untidy diagrams. Online suits diagram and essay work equally well and widens the choice for IB and Cambridge students. A home lesson for numericals and an online one for written answers is common.
A Surat parent should check that the economics tutor asks about board, medium and class and has your child draw and label a diagram. A numerical should end with a line explaining the answer. Listen for a why or so-what after each point, and clear rules that coursework help never means writing it.
