Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Gwalior student can prepare for JEE without leaving home. Some join a local batch, some work from school and self-study, and some add a tutor for one or two subjects. Whichever mix your family chooses, the tutor is only worth the money if their role is written down: which subject, which kind of work, which evenings. This page sets out how Gwalior families usually divide that work, which slot in the week holds up, how a tutor reaches each side of the city from Morar to Hazira and DD Nagar, what changes for an MP Board, CBSE or ICSE student, and how the plan moves from Class 11 to Class 12 to a repeat year. The national JEE home tutor page covers the exam itself in more depth.
The National Testing Agency conducts JEE (Main). In the 2026 information bulletin, Paper 1 was a three-hour computer-based test of 75 questions for 300 marks, with mathematics, physics and chemistry carrying 25 questions each. In every subject, 20 were multiple-choice and 5 asked for a numerical answer; a correct answer earned four marks and an incorrect one cost a mark, in both kinds. Candidates could sit two sessions. Those ranked highest in Paper 1 qualified for JEE (Advanced), which the 2026 brochure described as two compulsory papers of three hours each, in English or Hindi. These rules are revised year by year, so a family should read the current bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the brochure on jeeadv.ac.in rather than rely on anyone's summary, ours included.
The most common mistake is to hire a tutor who teaches the same chapter the batch taught on Monday. The student then sits through the same lesson twice and has less time to practise. A better approach is to list every part of JEE preparation and give each part an owner.
| Part of the work | With a batch | Without a batch |
|---|---|---|
| Teaching new chapters in order | The batch | The tutor, from a written plan built on the NTA syllabus |
| Unsolved questions and test mistakes | The tutor, every week | The tutor, every week |
| Full-length timed papers | The batch's test series, reviewed by the tutor | Previous NTA papers, plus a mock series the family arranges |
| School board papers and practical files | The school, with the tutor checking written answers | The school, with the tutor checking written answers |
| Study hours, sleep, phone rules | The family | The family |
Once the table is filled in, the tutor's job usually narrows to one of three things: the subject losing the most marks, the weekly backlog of doubts and test errors, or the whole syllabus for a student who has chosen not to join a batch. Say which one when you send the request, because it changes the kind of tutor we look for.
Gwalior's evenings are when markets fill and main roads slow, especially around Morar's bazaars, the Thatipur main road and the old-city streets near Hazira. That is also when a batch student is least fresh. A pattern that tends to hold up for a full year looks like this:
Our coaching or home tutor for JEE article was written for another city, but its questions about travel time and splitting the work apply in Gwalior too.
A JEE tutor is a commitment of two years for many families, and the journey is what usually breaks it. Look first at tutors who live on your side of the city, then widen.
| Locality | Getting there | Practical tip |
|---|---|---|
| Morar | Along Racecourse Road from Thatipur or the City Centre side, by two-wheeler or auto | Mostly family houses: give the house number and a landmark near the main road |
| Gole Ka Mandir | From Morar, Thatipur or DD Nagar | Tutors from all three sides can reach you, which widens the shortlist |
| DD Nagar | Mostly by two-wheeler; Birlanagar Junction serves this side by rail | Layouts are large: share the block or colony name as well as the house number |
| Aditya Puram | Via Airport Road or Bhind Road | For the gated township, give the tutor's name at the gate before the demo |
| Hazira | Two-wheeler through the old-city lanes; Morena Road to the north | Where a car cannot pass, name a wider road or chowk as the meeting point |
| Tansen Nagar | From Hazira, Birla Nagar or the Lashkar side | For a builder floor or flat, share the floor and a landmark |
The zone pages give more detail: Thatipur and Morar, DD Nagar and Airport Road, Hazira and Old Gwalior, Lashkar and City Centre. Every locality is listed on our Gwalior home tutors page, and the Gwalior home tuition guide adds timing advice for each zone.
| Subject | Usually suits | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | Home | Students get stuck choosing the law and drawing the set-up; the tutor has to see the page as it is written |
| Mathematics | Home for new methods, online for paper reviews | Long working needs a tutor at the table; going through a timed paper works well on a shared screen |
| Chemistry | Online for organic and inorganic recall; home if physical chemistry numericals are weak | Frequent short checks suit a screen better than a long visit |
For Advanced-level problem solving, the right specialist may live across the city or in another state. A weekly online session with that person, alongside a local tutor for the routine work, is often the stronger plan. Our online tutors for Gwalior page explains how that works, and the home or online tutor comparison sets out the trade-offs.
The NTA syllabus is built on NCERT content, so how much bridging a student needs depends on the school course and on the language they think in.
| Stage | Main work | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Class 11 | Mechanics, the basics of calculus and the mole concept; an error notebook started in the first month | Falling behind here is the hardest thing to repair later, so treat Class 11 as the foundation year, not a warm-up |
| Class 12 | New chapters, steady Class 11 revision, full papers before the first session | MP Board and CBSE students both need written board practice in the final months; put it in the calendar early |
| Repeat year | Read last year's papers for patterns of error, rebuild the weak chapters, then many timed papers | Daytime sessions are possible, which widens the choice of tutor across the city |
Before choosing a repeat year, check the eligibility rules in the current documents. In 2026, JEE Main had no age limit and JEE Advanced allowed at most two attempts in consecutive years. For subject plans, see the JEE physics tutor page and our topic-wise guides to maths, physics and chemistry.
Bring three questions your child could not solve this week, from the batch sheet, a test or a past paper. Then watch for these things:
If the fit is wrong, we arrange another demo, and switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist has further questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. Entrance-level teaching tends to sit above school-level help, and a tutor crossing the city may factor in the ride. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Gwalior explain what moves the figure.
Send us the class, board, subjects, batch days if any, your target and your locality with a landmark. Yes, many do, with or without a local batch. It works when each part of the preparation has an owner: the batch or tutor teaches new chapters, the tutor clears doubts and test mistakes weekly, the family arranges full timed papers and guards study hours. Tell us which part you need covered.
The one losing the most marks. Count wrong and skipped answers per subject over the last few tests. Physics is often the weakest because setting up the problem is hard, but some students lose more in maths working or chemistry recall. Book the tutor for that subject and review the rest monthly.
Tutors teach across Lashkar, City Centre, Thatipur and Morar, DD Nagar and Airport Road, and Hazira and Old Gwalior. We start with tutors living on your side of the city, because a two-year plan depends on an easy journey. Share your colony, a landmark and the days that are free of school or batch.
Yes. The tutor places the board's Higher Secondary chapter list beside the NTA units in Class 11, adds depth where the entrance syllabus asks for more, and builds in timed objective practice. Written board answers stay in the plan too. Take the board's syllabus and rules only from mpbse.nic.in.
The 2026 JEE Main bulletin listed 13 languages and the 2026 JEE Advanced brochure offered English and Hindi. Confirm the options in the current documents, choose the paper language by Class 11, and practise in it from then on. A tutor who can explain technical terms in both languages helps students who learn in a mix.
