Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Gwalior stretches from the old-city lanes below the fort to the plotted colonies of DD Nagar and the townships off Airport Road. A tutor who lives in Lashkar can teach well in Morar, but a regular evening ride out to Aditya Puram is harder to sustain, and a specialist for an ISC elective or Cambridge IGCSE may not live in the city at all. Online tuition takes the journey out of the decision. Below, the NXTutors Academic Team looks at the situations where a Gwalior student gains from a screen, the ones where a visiting tutor still wins, the steps for booking online lessons with us, the kit your child needs, the signs of a lesson that is working, and ways to combine visits and screen time with a single teacher.
Gwalior's zones are spread out: Lashkar to the south of the fort, City Centre near Gwalior Junction, Thatipur and Morar to the east, DD Nagar towards the airport, and Hazira on the old-city side. Evening market crowds slow the main roads in several of them. Online lets you pick on teaching quality alone, without asking whether someone can cross the city twice a week for a whole year.
ISC electives, IB and Cambridge IGCSE papers, and entrance-level physics or maths have fewer specialists in any one city. Requiring that person to travel to your home in the evening shrinks the list further. Online opens it to teachers across India. Our ICSE and ISC page for Gwalior explains what to look for in an elective specialist.
Class 11 and 12 students often have school, a batch and homework back to back. Concentrated work on a screen after dinner is practical; asking a tutor to ride across town at that hour rarely is. The JEE and NEET pages for Gwalior show how online sessions fit around a batch.
Heavy rain, a family function, a school event or a minor illness can each cancel a home visit. Families who agree an online fallback from the first week lose nothing on those days: the lesson stays at the usual time, just on a screen.
These reasons fade with time. Once a young child's habits are settled, or a new board feels familiar, online can take over some or all of the lessons. Our MP Board and CBSE pages for Gwalior cover the board side.
| Situation | Usually suits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Primary child, a tutor available in your own zone | Home | Close supervision and an easy trip for the tutor |
| A self-driven Class 9 or 10 student on any of the three main boards | Online, or online plus visits | More board specialists to choose from and nobody on the road after dark |
| Senior student attending a batch | Screen sessions on weekdays, one visit on the weekend | Late slots become usable; roads are quieter on weekends |
| ISC elective, IB or IGCSE paper | Online | Specialists are scarce in any single city |
| Home in DD Nagar or off Airport Road, tutor in Lashkar or City Centre | Both | One visit a week and the rest online keeps the evening trips down |
| Home in the old-city lanes where cars struggle | Home with a nearby tutor, online for specialists | A tutor from Hazira, Tansen Nagar or Birla Nagar comes by two-wheeler; the rest happens on screen |
| Any home tutor in the rainy months | Home, with an online fallback | Heavy-rain evenings move online at the usual time |
The home tutor or online tutor comparison works through the trade-offs in more detail.
Gwalior locality pages are ordered the same way: teachers in that locality, then its zone, then the rest of the city, then teachers who work online from elsewhere, each card marked with the tutor's base. So an online teacher on your list is not an error; it often means the subject specialist you asked for is not nearby. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how it works). That check is about identity, not a police or background check, so your own judgement in the demo still matters most.
The set-up matters most in subjects built on working, such as maths, physics, chemistry and accountancy, where the tutor has to see each line appear rather than receive a picture of the final page afterwards.
Try the whole arrangement during the free demo and fix any gap before paid lessons begin. Our article on online versus offline tutoring adds more practical advice.
Within two or three lessons the signs are clear. In a good session your child is doing most of the talking and writing. When an error appears, the tutor stops and asks something that lets your child find it. Cameras stay on throughout. Practice comes from the actual syllabus, school tests or past papers rather than generic sheets. At the end there is a brief written summary: what was done, what to practise before next time. If the tutor mostly reads from slides, that is a lecture, not tuition. More questions to ask are in the demo class checklist for parents.
Plenty of arrangements sit between all-home and all-online. With a tutor who can come to you some of the time, consider:
Wherever possible, keep the same teacher across both. A tutor who knows your child is worth more than the format.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Online takes the journey out of the tutor's day, so the same person may quote less for an online lesson; an experienced specialist may charge much the same either way. Class, board, subject and sessions per week move the figure more than the format does. Every fee is shown before the demo; see the Gwalior home tuition fees guide and our pricing guide.
Tell us the class, board and subjects, whether you want online only or home plus online, your locality if visits are part of the plan, and which evenings are free. If you would like to see local teachers before online ones, start from a locality page: Aditya Puram, Shatabdipuram, Gole Ka Mandir, Tansen Nagar, Birla Nagar or Vinay Nagar; each lists local tutors in the area first, with online teachers listed after them. The zone pages for DD Nagar and Airport Road and Hazira and Old Gwalior describe those sides of the city.
You can book a free demo class now, look through online tutors, or go to the Gwalior home tutors page and its five zones. The Gwalior home tuition guide covers timing for home visits, the maths and science pages cover the core school subjects, parents who prefer a woman teacher can read about female home tutors, and teachers can find tuition jobs in Gwalior.
When the right tutor lives in another zone and evening trips would not last a year, when your child needs a narrow specialist such as an ISC elective, IB or IGCSE teacher, or when school and a batch leave only late evenings free. Online removes the journey, so you choose purely on teaching.
Choose Online under the home page search, or type online with the subject and class. Distance then stops counting and tutors from other cities can appear. Find Tutors set to online adds filters for board, class, fee limit, experience, rating and tutor gender, and the demo form has a Mode field.
Yes. Choose online in the Mode field of the demo request and add the class, board and times that suit you. We send two or three tutors with their fees, and the first lesson with the one you pick is free, on screen. You and the tutor agree the video tool and how written work is shown.
It does when the tutor can see the working as it is written: a phone on a stand over the notebook, a tablet with a stylus or a shared whiteboard. Without that, the tutor sees only final answers and cannot fix the step that went wrong. Test the set-up in the free demo.
Often, yes, if they live within reach. Common patterns are new chapters at home at the weekend with weekday doubts online, home visits in term with online sessions in exam weeks, or home on dry days with heavy-rain evenings moved online. Keeping the same teacher matters more than the format.
Use a family laptop in a shared room, send links to a parent's number, keep both cameras on and avoid private chat apps. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. It is not a background check, so judge the teaching yourself.
Not always. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Online removes the tutor's travel, so some quote less; specialists may charge the same. Fees show before the demo.
