Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

On the CISCE route, the hard part is not any single chapter. It is the number of separate papers, the length of the written answers, the set texts in English, and the internal work that runs all year. In Classes 11 and 12, ISC trims the number of subjects but asks far more of each one, and its practical and project marks are part of the result. This page explains how the ICSE subjects are grouped, how the maths and science papers are built, how to keep a wide syllabus from going stale, which ISC rules catch families out, the choices at the end of Class 10, how tutors get to six localities between Morar and Vinay Nagar, and what to test in the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary writes on ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap on the sciences and Ajay Vatsyayan on ISC maths.
Our Gwalior tutors page lists the boards students in the city sit: the MP Board, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and a smaller group on IB or Cambridge IGCSE. We do not publish shares for each. For a tutor, the useful comparison is with the state board. The Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh sets the High School and Higher Secondary examinations from its own syllabus and marking scheme, published each session, and students write in Hindi or English. ICSE, by contrast, expects long answers in English in almost every subject, divides science into three papers, and publishes subject-wise reports on where candidates went wrong. A tutor who knows the MP Board paper well still needs to show they can mark the way a CISCE examiner does.
| Group | How many | Examples from the regulations | Paper / school-assessed |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | All of it, compulsory | English, a second language, and History, Civics & Geography | 80 / 20 |
| II | Two or three | Maths, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science, or a modern foreign or classical language | 80 / 20 |
| III | One | Applied options including Computer Applications, Economic or Commercial Applications, Art, Physical Education, and Robotics and AI | 50 / 50 |
Group III is the one place where school-assessed work equals the written paper. A student who keeps the practical and project tasks ticking over month by month banks those marks early; one who leaves them for the final term often finds this subject pulling the overall percentage down.
Mathematics. The written paper runs three hours for 80 marks. The remaining 20 come from at least two pieces of internal work, marked twice: once by the subject teacher in school and once by an examiner from outside. The syllabus mixes commercial arithmetic, such as banking and shares, with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics. Examiners look for the method, so a correct final figure with missing lines can still lose marks.
Science. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are examined separately, each in a two-hour, 80-mark paper, with 20 further marks for practical work assessed in school. Because each paper stands alone, a strong physics score cannot rescue weak biology. Settle at the start whether one tutor can handle all three or whether the weakest needs someone dedicated. CISCE also publishes a subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance after every exam season, setting out the errors candidates made most; a tutor should read it together with the specimen papers.
With so many papers, chapters learned early in Class 9 fade by the board year unless someone brings them back. A good ICSE tutor builds three habits into the routine:
A typical session might begin by marking the student's own attempts line by line, move on to one new topic, and finish with a single full answer written against the clock. That last part is what turns knowledge into marks.
| Rule | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| English plus three to five electives; six subjects at most | Choose electives for interest and future plans, not just to fill a slot |
| Subjects cannot change after 15 September in the year of Class 11 registration; Class 12 subjects must continue from Class 11 | A wrong choice cannot be fixed in the second term, so decide before the deadline |
| Promotion to Class 12 requires 35% in four subjects, English among them, and 75% attendance | A weak Class 11 is a real risk, not a formality |
| Practical exams are compulsory where a subject has them; Physics and Engineering Science cannot be combined | Practical files need steady attention through both years |
| Results are graded 1 to 9; a pass certificate needs four subjects including English, plus Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service | The non-exam requirements count too |
In ISC Mathematics each year has a three-hour theory paper worth 80 marks and a 20-mark project. See our ISC maths tutor page, the ICSE and ISC maths guide, and the ICSE Class 10 maths article for the board year.
| Class | What counts | Useful tuition |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | School exams | Answers in full sentences, maths set out step by step, science terms used precisely |
| 9 | Start of the two-year ICSE course | Rotating review from the first term; diagrams and working every week |
| 10 | ICSE papers plus internal marks | Specimen papers and examiner reports, timed, one paper at a time |
| 11 | Promotion rules; subjects fixed in September | Electives chosen with care; the jump from ICSE closed early |
| 12 | ISC theory, practicals and projects | Depth in each elective, with practical and project deadlines met |
At the end of ICSE a Gwalior family usually weighs three routes. ISC continues the same examining style, but each elective becomes far more demanding and the practical and project load rises. CBSE for Class 11 brings NCERT textbooks, annual sample papers and its own theory-practical split; the subject content transfers well, though answers tend to be briefer and tied closely to the book. The MP Board's Higher Secondary course follows the board's syllabus and marking scheme for that session, which can be read on mpbse.nic.in before any decision. Whichever is chosen, the gap between the Class 10 papers and the new term is a good moment for a short bridge course: the first chapters of the new syllabus, its style of question and, for science students, an unhurried start on Class 11 physics and maths. ISC subjects lock in September of Class 11, so settle the choice by the start of term. Our CBSE and MP Board pages for Gwalior describe those routes, and the stream choice guide helps with subjects.
In any city there are fewer ISC elective specialists than general tutors. Families often combine a nearby teacher who visits for maths or science with screen lessons for a single elective or for English literature. For Lashkar and City Centre, see the Lashkar and City Centre zone pages.
Up to Class 10, maths and the three sciences reward a tutor who sits next to the student and reads every line as it is written, so the journey is usually worth it. A screen makes more sense for an ISC elective or for literature when the right teacher is based elsewhere, for quick revision checks close to the papers, and for evenings when the weather or a family occasion keeps a tutor away. If maths or science does move online, the tutor must be able to see the working live: a stylus tablet, a shared board, or a phone camera aimed at the exercise book. More on this in online tutors for Gwalior and our home or online tutor comparison.
We put forward two or three matched tutors with their fees visible up front, and moving to a different tutor later costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (read how).
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Where a Gwalior ICSE or ISC fee lands depends on the class, how many papers need support, the time left before the exams and the tutor's journey. See the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Gwalior.
Let us know whether it is ICSE or ISC, plus class, subjects, colony and available times; your first lesson is a free demo. Yes, a Gwalior family can find an ICSE or ISC home tutor by telling us the board, class, subjects, colony and free slots. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. For a scarce ISC elective, we may suggest online lessons beside a local tutor.
ICSE feels heavier for Gwalior Class 10 students mainly through volume: all Group I papers, two or three Group II subjects and one Group III subject. Science alone is three separate two-hour, 80-mark papers, and answers are long and in English. Revision in rounds, timed writing from Class 9 and a dated project list help most.
ICSE maths for a Gwalior Class 10 student is one three-hour, 80-mark paper plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments. Each assignment is marked by the school teacher and an external examiner. Commercial arithmetic such as banking and shares sits beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and missing lines of working can cost marks.
A Gwalior family should know that ISC allows English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most, fixed after 15 September of the registration year. Class 12 subjects must continue from Class 11. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance, and practicals are compulsory where a subject has them.
After ICSE Class 10 in Gwalior, ISC keeps the CISCE style but goes deeper, CBSE brings NCERT and briefer answers, and the MP Board follows its own session syllabus. Read the MP Board scheme on mpbse.nic.in, settle the choice before ISC subjects lock in September, and use the gap after the Class 10 papers for a short bridge course.
For ICSE maths and the three sciences up to Class 10 in Gwalior, a home tutor is usually worth the journey, since marks depend on every written line. Online suits an ISC elective or English literature whose specialist is elsewhere, and quick revision checks. If maths goes online, the tutor must see the working live on a tablet or notebook camera.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For a Gwalior ICSE or ISC student, the class, number of papers needing support, time left before exams and the tutor's journey decide where a fee lands. Each fee is shown before the free demo.
The ICSE Group III subject weighs heavily for a Gwalior student because school-assessed work equals the written paper there, 50 marks each. Groups I and II are 80 for the paper and 20 for school assessment. A student who keeps practical and project tasks moving month by month banks those marks early, while leaving them late can pull the percentage down.
One tutor can cover ICSE physics, chemistry and biology for a Gwalior student, but settle at the start whether the weakest paper needs someone dedicated. Each science is a separate two-hour, 80-mark paper with 20 practical marks assessed in school, so strong physics cannot rescue weak biology. Ask the tutor to read CISCE's Analysis of Pupil Performance too.
A Gwalior tutor used to the MP Board can teach an ICSE student well only after showing they can mark the way a CISCE examiner does. ICSE expects long answers in English in almost every subject, splits science into three papers, and publishes subject-wise reports on candidates' errors, while the MP Board sets its own session syllabus and marking scheme.
A Morar family in Gwalior can guide an ICSE tutor with a house number and a landmark near Racecourse Road, since most homes there are family houses. DD Nagar is spread out, so send the block, house number and a landmark before the demo. In Aditya Puram, pass the tutor's name to the township gate in advance.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
