What home tuition costs in Ranchi

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

JEE home tutor in Ranchi: the right tutor on the right side of Circular Road

Plenty of Ranchi students in Classes 11 and 12 already attend entrance coaching, and what they need from a home tutor is not another set of lectures. They need someone who clears the questions the batch left behind, lifts the subject pulling the score down, and keeps the JAC, CBSE or ISC board paper from being forgotten. In a city with no metro, where every visit is by road, the other half of the problem is simply getting the tutor to the door at the same time every week. This page covers both halves. For the exam pattern in full and the choice between one tutor and three, start with the national JEE home tutor hub.

The two JEE exams at a glance

JEE (Main) Paper 1 and JEE (Advanced), from the 2026 documents
JEE (Main) Paper 1JEE (Advanced)

FormatOne three-hour computer-based paper; 75 questions, 300 marksTwo compulsory three-hour computer-based papers

If two candidates tie in Main, maths decides first. Rules change each year, so check jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in before you plan around any of it.

Which slots hold in a road-only city?

With no metro, a Ranchi tutor's journey depends on the chowks in between. Lalpur, Kutchery, Argora and the Doranda market roads fill around office closing time, Bypass Road is heavy at office hours, and big events at the Morabadi ground or cricket at the stadium in Dhurwa clog the roads around them. Fix the coaching days first and build the tutor slots around those pressure points.

Tutor slots that usually work for Ranchi JEE students
SlotUseWhy in Ranchi
Non-coaching day, before office closing timeThe main home session, 90 minutesThe tutor crosses Lalpur or Argora before the chowks jam
Coaching day, after the batch30 to 45 minutes online on that day's doubtsNo evening drive across town
Weekend morningFull paper plus analysisQuieter roads; time for a proper review
Event days at Morabadi, match days at the stadiumMove that evening online or to the morningSaves a wasted trip in a jam

The reasoning in our JEE coaching or a home tutor guide, written for another city, applies here too: the tutor should own the doubt list and the test review, and the batch should own the pace.

Six localities and where their tutors come from

A tutor already teaching in Harmu is unlikely to cross to Bariatu every evening, so we start with tutors who live or teach near your end of town.

How JEE tutors reach six Ranchi localities
LocalityTutor's routeFamily's tip
Kanke RoadIdeally from the northern colonies themselves; from the centre the road is slow at closing timeApartment gates keep a register; send the tutor's name and flat number
LalpurClose to Ranchi Junction; the Kantatoli flyover eases the Kokar sideParking is scarce near the chowk, so the tutor may finish by auto; fix a slot away from the rush
HarmuAlong Bypass Road, also called Harmu RoadLeave a buffer in evening slots; older lanes allow parking at the door
ArgoraArgora station is the nearest rail point; most tutors rideArgora Chowk is congested at peak hours; pick a time after the office rush
DorandaBy road from the centre or from HinooThe market roads fill at closing time; a weekend session is easiest
DhurwaWide sector roads; Hatia station is close for tutors coming by trainSome colonies sign visitors in; go online on cricket match days

The four zone guides add housing and timing notes: Kanke Road, Morabadi and Bariatu, Lalpur, Kokar and Namkum, Harmu, Argora and Ratu Road and Doranda, Hinoo and Hatia. The Ranchi page lists every locality, and our Ranchi tuition guide walks through each zone.

Home or online: a split for each JEE subject

Home and online JEE tuition in Ranchi
SubjectWhereReasoning
MathsHomeLong derivations and calculation-heavy problems need watching line by line
PhysicsHome for concepts; online for test reviewDiagrams and set-up need the tutor beside the student; reviewing a test does not
ChemistryOnline for most of itInorganic recall and organic mechanisms check well on screen; bring physical numericals home if they lag

In outer localities such as Namkum, Pundag, Tupudana and the northern end of Kanke Road, homes are spread out and fewer specialists live close. A nearby tutor for the subject that needs watching, plus an online specialist for Advanced-level work, is often the practical mix. Our home or online tutor comparison has the general trade-offs.

An example: a Class 12 student in Harmu with a gap in physics

Take an illustrative student living off Bypass Road, with coaching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, steady in maths and chemistry but losing marks in physics tests. A plan that respects Ranchi's roads might look like this:

  • Tuesday, at home, 90 minutes, starting before the office rush: a physics tutor from the same zone works through the doubt list from Monday's batch and rebuilds one weak concept.
  • Thursday, online, 45 minutes after dinner: the week's unsolved questions from Wednesday, while they are fresh.
  • Sunday morning: a full timed paper at home, then a 45-minute online review that sorts every wrong, skipped and slow question by cause.

Maths and chemistry stay with the batch, checked through test scores each month. If the analysis later shows maths slipping, a second tutor can be added for that subject alone. Paying for three subjects from day one, when only one is the problem, mostly buys travel time.

JAC, CBSE or ISC: closing the gap to the NTA syllabus

The JEE syllabus tracks NCERT content. A Ranchi student's starting point therefore depends on the board:

  • JAC. The Jharkhand Academic Council holds the Class 12 examination for its schools and sets its own textbooks and question style. We describe it only in general terms. The tutor should take the school side from the council's latest notices, map each chapter to the NTA units, and add the timed objective and numerical work the board paper does not require.
  • CBSE. The content match is closest. The common gap is written presentation: after months of objective practice, full stepwise board answers need a few dedicated weeks before pre-boards.
  • ISC. Long written answers over a wide syllabus. Volume is the hurdle, so plan revision in rounds and chart which NTA units the school reaches each term.
  • IB or Cambridge. Ranchi families on these courses usually work with an online specialist. Read the qualifying-examination section of the current NTA bulletin first, then ask for a unit-by-unit gap list.

Board-side detail is on our Ranchi maths, physics and chemistry pages.

Class 11, Class 12 and a repeat year

Class 11

The base year. Mechanics, early calculus, the mole concept and atomic structure carry into most of Class 12. Start an error log in the first month and test fundamentals every fortnight. April to June, before the monsoon, is the easiest time to set a weekly routine that will survive the year.

Class 12

Finish new chapters, keep Class 11 revision alive and move to full papers before the January session. JAC, CBSE and ISC students all need written-answer practice before pre-boards; reserve those weeks in the plan from the start.

A repeat year

Check eligibility first: in 2026 Main had no age limit and Advanced allowed two attempts in consecutive years. Then diagnose last year's tests. With daytime free, home sessions can run before the office rush, widening the choice of tutor.

For subject depth, see the JEE physics tutor page and our topic plans for maths, physics and chemistry.

Five things to check in the JEE demo

  1. Diagnosis first. Given an unsolved coaching question, does the tutor ask what was tried?
  2. The student solves. Hints, not a finished solution on the board.
  3. Paper knowledge. Can they explain how the JAC, CBSE or ISC paper is set, and how negative marking in the numerical questions changes guessing?
  4. A month's plan. Chapters, sessions and how progress will show.
  5. A route that holds. Which road, at what hour, and the plan for match and event days.

If it does not fit, we arrange the next demo, and switching is free. Our demo checklist helps you prepare.

JEE Home Tutor in Ranchi: common questions

Which parts of Ranchi do your JEE tutors cover?

Tutors teach across Ranchi's four zones: Kanke Road, Morabadi and Bariatu; Lalpur, Kokar and Namkum; Harmu, Argora and Ratu Road; and Doranda, Hinoo and Hatia. Because every trip is by road, we start with tutors from your side of Circular Road. Share your locality, the nearest chowk and your coaching days.

What time should JEE tuition be in Ranchi?

On non-coaching days, a home session that starts before office closing time avoids the jams at Lalpur, Kutchery, Argora and Doranda. On coaching days, a short online doubt session after the batch works better. Weekend mornings suit a full paper and its review. Keep the agreed slot fixed every week.

Can a JAC student prepare for JEE with a home tutor?

Yes. The tutor follows the council's textbooks and latest notices for the school side, maps each chapter to the NTA syllabus, and adds the timed objective and numerical practice the board paper does not require. Written board practice still needs its own weeks before pre-boards in Class 12.

Should my child have one JEE tutor or three in Ranchi?

Start with the subject costing the most marks in coaching tests, often physics or maths, and keep the others under review through scores. A tutor for each subject from day one mostly adds travel time across town. Add a second tutor only when the test analysis points to another subject.

Is online JEE tuition sensible in Namkum, Pundag or Tupudana?

Often, yes. Homes in these outer localities are spread out and fewer senior specialists live nearby. A common mix is a nearby tutor at home for the subject that needs close watching, plus an online specialist for Advanced-level problems. Online sessions also help on Morabadi event days and stadium match days.

How much does a JEE home tutor cost in Ranchi?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with JEE toward the upper end and JEE Advanced specialists able to charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. A tutor travelling from the far side of town may include the trip.

How do we choose a JEE tutor in Ranchi?

Send your request and you receive two or three matched tutors. Take a free demo with one: bring unsolved coaching questions, watch whether the student does the solving, and ask about the route and the plan for event days. If it is not right, we arrange the next demo, and switching is free.
