Tutoring in Ranchi: what to know
Ranchi's four zones are compact enough for a tutor to know well. Kanke Road, Morabadi and Bariatu make up the residential north; Lalpur, Kokar and Namkum run from the commercial centre to the south-east edge; Harmu, Argora and Ratu Road form the planned west; and Doranda, Hinoo and Hatia take in the south, including the Dhurwa township. Older independent houses sit beside newer apartment buildings that keep gate registers, and staff colonies in Dhurwa and Hatia have sector roads with easy parking. There is no metro, so tutors travel by two-wheeler, auto or cab, with Ranchi Junction, Argora, Hatia and Namkon as the rail points.
JAC, the Jharkhand Academic Council, is the state board and conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations for the schools affiliated to it, and many Ranchi students write these papers. A JAC student needs a tutor who works from the prescribed textbooks. Alongside JAC, families follow CBSE and CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and a smaller group IB or IGCSE. Class and board are matched together, because a Class 10 JAC student and a Class 12 CBSE student aiming at engineering need different people. CBSE's session starts in April, while JAC and CISCE schools publish their own calendars, so check those notices when planning a student's year.
Ranchi tutors can combine home and online lessons. A request from Morabadi is matched first with tutors in Morabadi, then elsewhere in the northern zone, then across the city, then online, and the family sees two or three tutors with fees before a free first demo; switching later costs them nothing. Event days at the Morabadi ground and cricket matches in Dhurwa fill the nearby roads, and those are the evenings when an online lesson keeps the routine going. For ICSE literature, IB or senior specialist papers, online tutors from across India can work alongside the local one.

A family nearby sends a request
A family in Lalpur or Doranda asks for a tutor. NXTutors lines up two or three, starting with tutors in that area, then tutors who travel there, the zone, the city and online.

Free demo; the family sees your fee first
They see your fee before booking, and the first lesson is a free demo at their home with a parent in, so you can gauge the student and the route.

Boards you can teach in Ranchi
Ranchi tutors teach JAC, CBSE, ICSE and ISC students, and some IB and IGCSE learners. For JAC, take the syllabus, model papers and dates from the Jharkhand Academic Council's official website and teach from its prescribed textbooks. CBSE sample papers and marking schemes are on the CBSE academic site, which matters because many marks now reward applying an idea, and ICSE and ISC regulations are on the CISCE site. Be specific on your profile about which board and which classes you take.
JAC
Class 10; Class 12 (Intermediate)
JAC is Jharkhand's state board and conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations for its affiliated schools. Many Ranchi students write these papers, so a JAC tutor works from the prescribed textbooks and the council's own question style, and takes syllabus, model papers and dates only from jac.jharkhand.gov.in.
A Class 12 CBSE student aiming at engineering needs different help from a Class 10 JAC student, so Ranchi families match board and class together. For CBSE, many marks now reward applying an idea, so use the sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in, and note that the session starts in April.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
CISCE sets the ICSE at Class 10 and the ISC at Class 12, with long answers over a wide syllabus and prescribed English literature. Ranchi students on these boards can combine a local tutor with online lessons for ICSE literature or a senior specialist paper. Read the regulations on cisce.org.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
Ranchi's IB families usually find a specialist online, since IB tutors are spread across India. If you teach Diploma Maths AA or AI, Physics or Chemistry, an online profile reaches them; coach the internal assessment without writing any of it, and keep the ibo.org guide for each subject to hand.
Cambridge IGCSE students in Ranchi, like IB ones, usually study with an online specialist. What they need is technique: command words, the Core or Extended tier, and past papers marked against the official scheme. A tutor anywhere can offer it; syllabuses are on cambridgeinternational.org and Pearson's site.
