Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Economics answers are built from three materials: a diagram, a calculation and an argument. Most students handle one of them well and lose marks on the other two. In Ranchi, the paper might be set by JAC, CBSE, CISCE or an international board, and each weighs those materials differently. NXTutors asks for the board, the class and the part that keeps going wrong, then sends two or three tutors who can teach at your home or online. Fees are visible before you choose, and the first class with your chosen tutor is a free demo.
| Board | Written paper | Where the weight falls |
|---|---|---|
| JAC | Set by the council for its intermediate course | As in the council's own syllabus and notices |
| CBSE (030) | 80 marks in three hours, plus a 20-mark project, in both years | Class 11 splits evenly between statistics and microeconomics; Class 12 between macroeconomics and Indian economic development |
| ISC (856) | 80 marks in three hours, plus two 10-mark projects | 60 of the 80 come from five 12-mark answers chosen from eight |
| Cambridge IGCSE (0455) | Multiple choice (30%) and structured questions (70%) | Structured answers that use economic terms precisely |
| IB Economics | Paper 1 and Paper 2; HL adds Paper 3 | Real-world examples, evaluation and an internal assessment of three commentaries |
Inside CBSE Class 12 macroeconomics, the unit on determination of income and employment carries 12 of the 40 marks, national income 10, and money and banking, the government budget and the balance of payments 6 each. In Class 11 microeconomics, consumer's equilibrium and demand, and producer behaviour and supply, carry 14 each. A tutor who knows that weighting can spend time where it pays. For the wider CBSE and CISCE timetable, see our CBSE and ICSE and ISC pages for Ranchi.
JAC conducts Jharkhand's Class 10 and Class 12 examinations for its schools, and economics at the intermediate level follows the council's own syllabus and books. We describe it only in general terms and ask families to rely on the council's official site and notices for the syllabus and paper pattern. A tutor for a JAC student should plan from the prescribed book and the council's past papers rather than a CBSE guide, and teach in the medium your child writes answers in. Definitions in particular must be learnt in the language they will be written in.
Diagrams are where economics marks leak most quietly. A student draws the right curves, forgets to label one axis, and never mentions the diagram in the written answer. The examiner gives little credit. These are the diagrams that turn up repeatedly in senior-school economics, and what each must show:
| Diagram | Where it appears | A complete version shows |
|---|---|---|
| Production possibility curve | Introductory microeconomics | Both goods on the axes, the curve's shape, points inside and outside it and what they mean |
| Demand and supply | Price determination | Labelled axes, both curves, the original and new equilibrium, and the direction of any shift |
| Cost curves | Producer behaviour | Average and marginal cost with the marginal curve cutting average at its minimum point |
| Aggregate demand and income | Determination of income and employment | The 45-degree line, the aggregate demand line and the equilibrium level of income |
| Market diagrams with a tax or price control | Government intervention in IB and Cambridge microeconomics | The new price, quantity and the area that shows the effect being discussed |
A simple habit fixes most of it: draw from memory first, then compare with the textbook, then write one sentence in the answer that points to the diagram ("as shown by the shift from D1 to D2"). A tutor sitting beside the student sees every unlabelled axis; one marking a photo a day later sees fewer. Ten minutes of redrawing at the start of each session, two diagrams at a time, is usually enough to make the habit stick within a term.
Indian Economic Development is half of CBSE Class 12 economics, with 20 marks on current challenges alone, and ISC covers Indian economic development in Class 11. These answers are descriptive, and descriptive answers drift. A tutor can give them a firm shape: a one-line definition of the issue, two or three points each supported by a fact from the textbook or a recent government source, and a closing line that weighs them. The project and viva on both boards benefit from the same habit, provided the research and writing remain the student's own.
Take a macroeconomics question as practice: "Explain how the government budget can be used to reduce inequality of income." A drifting answer lists taxes and subsidies in no order. A shaped answer states the budget objective in one line, explains how higher tax rates on higher incomes and spending on goods used mainly by poorer households each narrow the gap, and ends by noting one limit, such as the cost to the budget itself. Same knowledge, more marks. A tutor who rewrites one such answer with the student every week changes the result faster than one who dictates notes.
The number of experienced IB and A Level economics tutors near any one home tends to be small, so for families on these programmes online lessons are often the realistic starting point. IB students need someone who knows the internal assessment (three commentaries on news extracts, never written by the tutor) and, at HL, the policy paper. Cambridge A Level students need essay planning, since the full A Level essays come without the two-part structure of AS. The national economics home tutor guide sets out both programmes in detail.
Without a metro, tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or car, and the slow points are a few junctions and event days. Six localities from the four zones; the Ranchi home tuition page lists the rest.
| Locality | Way in | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Kanke Road | Kanke Road from Circular Road, or the Ring Road at the northern end | The stretch from the centre is slow at office closing; a tutor from the northern colonies is easier |
| Bariatu | Bajra–Bariatu Road or Joda Talab Road | Apartment buildings keep a gate register; send the tutor's name ahead |
| Kokar | Over the Kantatoli flyover from the Kokar side | Share the building name with the gate before the first class |
| Ashok Nagar | Bypass Road, also called Harmu Road | Plotted lanes where the tutor can usually park at the door |
| Ratu Road | The old road below the elevated corridor opened in July 2025 | Through traffic now runs above, which eases movement past Piska More |
| Dhurwa | Sector roads, with Hatia station nearby | Move lessons to the morning or online on cricket match days near the stadium |
The zone guides for Kanke Road, Morabadi and Bariatu and Lalpur, Kokar and Namkum give more on routes, and our Ranchi tuition guide covers the city.
Economics is one of the easier subjects to teach online: diagrams on a shared whiteboard, a news article open on both screens, an answer marked as it is written. Home lessons help most in Class 11, when statistics and the first diagrams need someone watching the pencil, and for a student who switches off in front of a screen.
We make no promise about how many economics tutors live in a particular part of Ranchi. Families anywhere in the city can request a home tutor; where nobody suitable can reach you at your hour, online widens the choice to tutors across Ranchi and other cities. One home session plus one online session a week is a pattern worth trying. Our article on home or online tutoring has more.
If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with the next tutor on the shortlist; switching later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a rate, shown before the demo; our Ranchi fees article explains the range.
For central university admissions, the NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics (code 309) as a domain subject: 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes, following NCERT's Class 12 syllabus. Check the bulletin for your year. Undecided on a stream? Our stream choice guide and Class 11 page are written for Gurugram, but the reasoning is general.
Tutors who join go through an ID check. Commerce students can pair this page with our accountancy tutor in Ranchi, and the English tutor in Ranchi page helps with written answers. Teachers can see open requests on Ranchi tuition jobs.

A Ranchi family should send the board, class and medium, the part of economics that keeps going wrong, your locality with a landmark and free times. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
A Ranchi student usually loses economics diagram marks through missing labels, an unmarked equilibrium point or a diagram the answer never mentions. A tutor fixes this by having two diagrams redrawn from memory at the start of each session, compared with the textbook, then referred to in one sentence of the answer.
Yes, Ranchi families can request an economics tutor for JAC intermediate commerce who plans from the council's prescribed book and past papers, not a CBSE guide. The tutor should teach in the medium your child writes answers in, since definitions must be learnt in that language. Take the syllabus and pattern from the council's notices.
For Ranchi Class 12 students, determination of income and employment carries 12 of the 40 CBSE macroeconomics marks and national income 10. Within Indian Economic Development, current challenges facing the Indian economy carry 20. In Class 11, consumer's equilibrium and demand, and producer behaviour and supply, carry 14 each.
A Ranchi student should write Indian economy answers in a firm shape: a one-line definition, two or three backed points and a closing line that weighs them. Each point needs a fact from the textbook or a government source. Rewriting one such answer with the tutor every week lifts marks faster than dictated notes.
You can request an IB or A Level economics tutor at home in Ranchi, though experienced ones near any single home are few. Online lessons are often the realistic start. IB students need someone who knows the three-commentary internal assessment, never written by the tutor. A Level students need essay planning.

Home lessons help most in Class 11, when statistics and first diagrams need someone watching the pencil. One home and one online session a week is worth trying.
In Ranchi, an economics tutor's evening visit slows mostly at junctions at office closing and on event days, since every trip is by road. Kanke Road from the centre is slow at closing time, Bariatu flats keep gate registers, and Dhurwa clogs on stadium match days. Move those lessons to the morning or online.
For a Ranchi Class 12 student, Economics / Business Economics (code 309) was a CUET (UG) 2026 domain subject of 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes. It follows NCERT's Class 12 syllabus, so a JAC student should compare the council's book with NCERT chapters. Check the NTA bulletin for your own year.
