Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For most ICSE students in Ranchi, no single chapter is the problem. The problem is the amount: many papers in Class 10, long written answers in nearly every subject, literature in English, and project and internal work running alongside. ISC then trades breadth for depth, with practicals and subject rules that leave little room for a late change of mind. This page explains how CISCE organises both stages, what the papers reward, which subjects families ask about, how ICSE tutors reach each of Ranchi's four zones, and how to choose one in a free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary covers ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap the sciences and Ajay Vatsyayan ISC maths.
The Ranchi tutors page counts three main systems in the city: JAC, CBSE and CISCE's ICSE and ISC. It gives no proportions and neither do we. Compared with the state board in general terms, the gap is in style more than content. JAC's Class 10 and Class 12 exams follow the council's own prescribed books and question pattern; ICSE spreads Class 10 across more separate papers, asks for longer answers in English, and publishes reports on what examiners wanted. A tutor used to JAC papers may teach the right content and still under-prepare an ICSE student for the length and precision of the answers.
| Group | Choice | Subjects | Paper / internal |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | All compulsory | English, a second language, History, Civics and Geography | 80% / 20% |
| II | Two or three | Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, a modern foreign or classical language, Environmental Science | 80% / 20% |
| III | One subject | An applied subject: Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art, Physical Education, Robotics and AI, among others | 50% / 50% |
Because half of the Group III mark is internal, a forgotten project costs far more there than a weak chapter in a Group II paper.
ICSE Mathematics is a single three-hour paper of 80 marks with 20 internal marks. The internal part comes from at least two assignments, which the subject teacher and an external examiner each mark independently. Alongside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics sits commercial maths such as banking and shares, and examiners reward method shown in full.
In science the student really sits three subjects. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are separate two-hour papers of 80 marks, each with 20 internal marks for practical work. Strength in physics numericals does nothing for a weak biology diagram, so decide early whether one tutor covers all three. After each exam season CISCE publishes an Analysis of Pupil Performance subject by subject; a tutor working from it and the specimen papers is teaching to the actual marking.
The Ranchi hub's description of the tutor's job for ICSE and ISC is steady revision that keeps returning to older chapters, timed writing practice, and care over internal assessment and project work. Turned into a routine: every third or fourth session revisits an old chapter in each paper; at least one answer per session is written against the clock; and the first session of each month checks the project list. Within each hour, the student attempts two or three questions first, the tutor marks them line by line for steps, labels, units and wording, then teaches the next topic.
ISC Mathematics combines an 80-mark, three-hour theory paper with 20 marks of project work in each year. See the ISC maths tutor page.
| Class | What counts | Tutor's time goes on |
|---|---|---|
| 6–8 | School exams | Habits: stepwise maths, labelled diagrams, full paragraphs |
| 9 | School exams; the ICSE syllabus begins | Revision loop set up early across all papers |
| 10 | ICSE papers plus internal work | Specimen papers and examiner reports under time |
| 11 | School exams; promotion and subject-lock rules | Elective choice; the step up from ICSE |
| 12 | ISC theory, practicals and projects | Depth, practical files, project deadlines |
Classes 6 to 8 have no board papers, which makes them the easiest time to fix the things CISCE later charges for. A middle-school tutor should insist on maths written line by line, even when the child can do it mentally; on science answers that use the right word rather than a near one; and on reading a chapter and then writing a full paragraph about it from memory. Children who reach Class 9 with these habits find the ICSE syllabus heavy but manageable. Children who arrive without them spend the first term of Class 9 learning to write rather than learning the subject. One or two calm sessions a week are enough at this age.
Staying with CISCE keeps the style familiar, though ISC electives go much deeper and the practicals grow. Moving to CBSE brings NCERT books, CBSE sample papers and a different theory and practical split; maths and science carry across well, answers become shorter and more textbook-bound. Moving to a JAC school for Class 11 means the council's own textbooks and pattern, so read its latest notices first. In each case, the break after Class 10 is the time for a short bridging plan with a tutor who knows the destination board.
Maths and the three sciences come first. English literature and History, Civics and Geography follow, usually for students who know the material but write too little. In ISC, physics, chemistry and maths dominate on the science side, accounts and economics on the commerce side.
The ICSE and ISC board hub explains the board in full; if your child is considering CBSE for Class 11, see CBSE home tutors in Ranchi, and decide before mid-September of that year.
Every trip in Ranchi is by road, on a two-wheeler, an auto or an e-rickshaw, and ICSE specialists are fewer than general tutors. So we start with tutors living on your side of Circular Road and widen the search only if the subject needs it. A few practical notes from our zone guides:
The hub notes that online lessons widen the choice for ICSE literature and senior specialist papers, because those tutors are spread across the country. That is the right split for most families: a tutor from your own zone for maths and the sciences, where marking the working in person matters, and an online specialist for set texts or one ISC elective. With no metro, a tutor living close by is far easier to keep for a full year. For online maths or science, the tutor must see the notebook live.
You receive two or three matched tutors, each fee visible before the demo, and can switch later at no cost. Tutors who join go through an ID check before the Verified badge appears.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For ICSE and ISC the class, number of papers, nearness of the exam and the tutor's ride shape the fee. See the pricing guide and Ranchi fees post.

Ranchi families find ICSE heavier mostly because of volume: compulsory Group I papers, two or three Group II subjects, one Group III subject and science as three papers. Answers are long and in English. A revision loop returning to old chapters, plus timed writing, keeps it manageable.
ICSE Group III needs steady project work in Ranchi because the applied subject, such as Computer Applications or Art, is marked half on paper and half internally. Groups I and II are 80% paper and 20% internal. A forgotten project costs far more there than a weak chapter.
Before Class 11, a Ranchi family should know that ISC needs English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most. Subjects cannot change after 15 September of the Class 11 registration year, and Class 12 subjects must have been studied in Class 11. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance.
A tutor who teaches JAC students can often cover ICSE content in Ranchi, since much maths and science overlaps, but the paper differs. ICSE wants longer answers in English, three separate science papers and marking that follows CISCE specimen papers and examiner reports. Ask which ICSE papers the tutor has taught recently.
A Ranchi ICSE tutor should run the revision loop so every third or fourth session revisits an old chapter in each paper. At least one answer per session is written against the clock, and the first session each month checks the project list. In each hour, the student attempts questions first, then the tutor marks line by line.
After ICSE in Ranchi, staying with ISC keeps the style familiar, though electives go deeper and practicals grow. CBSE brings NCERT books and shorter, textbook-bound answers, while a JAC school means the council's own textbooks and pattern. Decide before mid-September of Class 11, and use the break for a bridging plan.
For ICSE maths and the three sciences in Ranchi, a home tutor from your own zone usually suits, since marking working in person matters. A nearby tutor is also easier to keep all year. Online widens the choice for literature and one ISC elective, with specialists spread across India. Online maths needs the notebook live.
An ICSE tutor can visit Kokar or Hatia in Ranchi if the gate knows they are coming. Kokar apartment blocks usually register visitors, so share the building name and tutor's details. Some Hatia staff colonies ask visitors to sign in, so name the gate to use, and avoid the hour Doranda market roads fill.
