Science tutor jobs in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula

Picture a Class 8 student in Panchkula Sector 15 who has just met chemical reactions for the first time, or a Class 10 student in Chandigarh's Sector 44 two months from the CBSE board with weak electricity numericals. Those are the families who ask for a science tutor in the tricity: students in the years before science splits into physics, chemistry and biology, who need one teacher able to handle all three.

Open tuition requests in Chandigarh for science

This page is for tutors who teach that combined science. It explains the boards behind tricity science requests, how the zones differ for a tutor making two or three visits a week, what parents expect and how to make a strong first impression at the free demo. The live requests are shown separately on this page.

Who asks for science tutors in Chandigarh

Classes 6 to 10 make up the bulk. In CBSE, the dominant board here, science is one paper built on NCERT, and questions increasingly test application through case-based passages and assertion-reason items. Class 9 is where the subject deepens, with motion, atoms and the cell, and Class 10 adds electricity, light, carbon compounds and heredity for the board. Parents often notice trouble in Class 9 and want it fixed before the board year.

ICSE students sit physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers with long written answers and project work in each, so families want a tutor who can teach all three to ICSE depth. Students under the Punjab School Education Board on the Mohali side, or the Board of School Education Haryana in Panchkula, work from their own board's prescribed books; a tutor should use those books and the board's past papers, and confirm the syllabus on the board's website each year.

Families also value practical sense: explaining a series circuit with a battery and bulb, or why a cut apple browns, so that science feels real. Diagrams are marked in every board, so labelled drawing practice is part of the job.

Where in Chandigarh the work is

Science lessons for this age group usually run two or three evenings a week, so a short commute matters. In Chandigarh Sectors 1–30, plotted homes and builder floors open onto the street, and the sector, block letter and house number find the door; ask which bell to ring for a builder floor. In Chandigarh Sectors 31–56 & Manimajra, Sectors 40 and 44 are low-rise housing-board flats without a staffed gate, while Sector 49's cooperative societies keep a visitor list.

Mohali's older phases, such as Phase 3B2, Phase 5 and Phase 7, are mostly houses with local markets, convenient for a tutor living in the phases. In Panchkula & Zirakpur, Sectors 8 and 15 are plotted, while Sector 20 and most of Zirakpur are gated. A tutor who prefers not to cross the town lines at rush hour can list only their own side and take other students online.

Manimajra, now numbered Sector 13, has narrow old-town lanes beside newer planned complexes, so agree where to park before the first visit. In Mohali's Phase 10, match days at the Phase 9 stadiums slow the roads, and in Panchkula, Navratra crowds around Mansa Devi Complex call for an earlier or online lesson in that week.

What families in Chandigarh expect

  • Confidence in all three strands, physics, chemistry and biology, up to Class 10.
  • Teaching to the student's board: CBSE's single science paper, ICSE's three papers, or the state board's prescribed books.
  • Clear labelled diagrams, with the student drawing them from memory.
  • Numericals in motion, electricity and light worked with units and full steps.
  • Short chapter tests and a running record of weak topics.
  • Simple, safe demonstrations with household items when they help an idea stick.
  • Two or three fixed weekly slots that avoid the evening rush on the Margs.
  • A brief progress note to the parent every few weeks, naming which of the three strands has improved.

How to get picked

Science parents want to know that you will not be weak in one of the three strands. On your profile, say you teach Classes 6 to 10 science and name the boards. A line about your method helps, perhaps that each chapter ends with a diagram test and five application questions. List your sectors or phases, your evening hours and whether you teach online.

In the demo, ask which chapter the student finds hardest and teach one idea from it thoroughly. Have the student explain it back and draw the diagram. Then tell the parent which strand needs the most work and how often you would suggest meeting. Honest, specific feedback after the first lesson is often the deciding factor for tricity families comparing two or three tutors.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Which classes ask for a general science tutor in the tricity?

Mostly Classes 6 to 10, before science splits into separate subjects. Class 9 and the Class 10 board year come up most. Senior students usually ask for separate physics, chemistry or biology tutors.

Is ICSE science different to teach?

Yes. ICSE sets physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers, each with project work and long answers, while CBSE combines them in one paper on NCERT. Read the specimen papers on cisce.org before taking ICSE students.

Do Punjab board and Haryana board students ask for science?

Some do, on the Mohali and Panchkula sides. Each board has its own prescribed books and papers, so teach from those and confirm the syllabus on the board's official website each year.

Which sectors are easy for a tutor without a car?

Those near the Sector 17 and Sector 43 bus terminals, such as Sectors 16, 18, 21, 22, 35, 36, 44 and 46, with a short auto ride to finish. Elsewhere a scooter helps.

How do I handle gated societies?

In Sector 49, Phase 10, Sector 70, Panchkula Sector 20 and most of Zirakpur, ask the family to give your name at the gate before the demo and check visitor parking. Plotted sectors are simple doorstep visits.

Is it free to join as a science tutor?

Yes, joining is free, and you start on the Free plan with monthly lead credits. You set your own fee, and families see it before the free demo.
