Home Tuition in North and West Patna: A Locality Guide
North and west Patna splits into two belts for a home tutor. Around Boring Road and Patliputra Colony, families live in established colonies of houses and low-rise flats, with Digha on the bank of the Ganga. Along Bailey Road, a long run of apartment buildings leads west through Raja Bazar, Rukanpura and Saguna More to Danapur and Khagaul, with gated townships at the far end. Neither belt has an open metro station yet, so almost every tutor arrives by road.
This guide covers two zones: Boring Road & Patliputra, and Bailey Road & Danapur. For each locality it shows how a tutor gets there, what happens at the gate or the door, and which class times work.
How does a tutor reach each zone?
The Red Line of Patna Metro, the east–west corridor from Danapur Cantonment to Khemnichak with 14 stations, is under construction beneath Bailey Road, and no Red Line station is open yet. Until it opens, the useful links in this part of the city are rail and the riverside road. The Digha-Sonpur rail-road bridge across the Ganga was completed in January 2016, and Digha Bridge Halt station opened beside it on 25 November 2017. The Ganga riverfront expressway starts at Digha; its first phase opened on 24 June 2022.
| Zone | How most tutors arrive | Rail nearby | What usually happens at the door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boring Road & Patliputra | Two-wheeler, car or auto through the colonies; the riverfront expressway from the Digha end | Digha Bridge Halt, Patliputra Junction, Patna Junction | Doorstep arrival at colony houses; a register or a call from the gate at flats |
| Bailey Road & Danapur | Two-wheeler, car or auto along Bailey Road; the Red Line is still being built | Patliputra Junction in Rukanpura, Danapur station in Khagaul | Gate registration at most apartment buildings and townships; cantonment entry rules in Danapur |
Boring Road & Patliputra
Boring Road was lined with government officials' houses in the early twentieth century and later became a commercial and residential hub, with Nageshwar Colony, Sri Krishna Puri and North Sri Krishna Puri beside it. Patliputra Colony, officially Pataliputra Housing Colony, was formed in 1954 as a cooperative housing society for government officials and is still run by the Patliputra Cooperative Society. Kidwaipuri, also called P&T Colony, adjoins Nageshwar Colony.
- Boring Road: shops, restaurants, offices and coaching centres fill much of the frontage, with commercial-cum-residential apartment buildings along the road and older houses in the lanes behind. Most tuition homes are a short turn away in the side colonies. The Boring Road crossing is known for heavy traffic, so keep classes clear of the evening rush.
- Sri Krishna Puri: North Sri Krishna Puri is mostly apartment buildings with two- and three-bedroom flats, while older independent homes remain in the inner lanes of both colonies. For a flat, share the building name, floor and a phone number for the guard; for a house, a lane landmark is enough.
- Boring Canal Road: East and West Boring Canal Road run through a mid-rise group of colonies, with Anandpuri on the western side. Parking on the narrower lanes suits a two-wheeler better than a car, and shops along the canal road get busy in the evenings, so early-evening sessions work well.
- Kidwaipuri: a small, well-planned colony next to Nageshwar Colony. Visits are to a flat in a low-rise building or to a house, so arrival is at the door or at a single building gate. Its central position means tutors from Boring Road, Sri Krishna Puri and Anandpuri can all reach it easily.
- Patliputra Colony: independent houses alongside newer apartment buildings, bounded by the Kurji-Rajapur road, Gosain Tola, New Patliputra Colony and the Patliputra Industrial Area. Many homes allow doorstep arrival; apartment buildings may keep a visitor register at the gate.
- Digha: a densely built riverside neighbourhood where traditional houses stand beside newer high-rise blocks. Gola Road links it to Bailey Road, and the riverfront expressway and the elevated corridor help tutors skip some older inner roads. Towers register visitors, so confirm the entry process before the demo.
- Shastri Nagar: mainly apartments and builder floors in small and mid-sized buildings by local builders, with a Shastri Nagar stop on Bailey Road beside Rajbansi Nagar. In most buildings a phone call to the family from the gate is all that is needed.
- Shivpuri: named after the Shiv temple at its entrance near the old railway crossing, with Anandpuri and Boring Road as close neighbours. Give a landmark such as Shiv Market or the temple for the first visit, and plan around the Thursday crowd at the Radha Krishna temple.
Bailey Road & Danapur
Bailey Road connects Patna with Danapur, starting near the Income Tax roundabout and ending in Danapur. The Red Line stations planned beneath it are Danapur, Saguna Mor, RPS Mor, Patliputra, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan and Vidyut Bhawan, all still being built. Patliputra Junction, in Rukanpura, is the fourth terminal of the Danapur railway division. At the western end, Danapur Cantonment was established in 1765, while Danapur railway station, the division's headquarters, stands in Khagaul on the Delhi-Kolkata main line.
- Bailey Road: the eastern stretch is lined with major public buildings, and further west the road passes a long belt of apartment buildings, mostly two- and three-bedroom flats. Most buildings register visitors at the gate. Office-hour traffic is heavy, so pick a slot outside the evening peak or a tutor from the same stretch.
- Raja Bazar: apartment buildings in small complexes by local builders, with Sheikhpura and Khajpura as neighbours and daily shopping on the main road. Share the tutor's name with the guard before the demo.
- Rukanpura: home to Patliputra Junction and mostly two- and three-bedroom flats on lanes just off Bailey Road. Barriers from the underground metro work can slow the road, so allow extra margin for the first few classes.
- Saguna More: a housing hub dominated by three-bedroom apartments, with large gated townships of many towers beside smaller buildings. Register the tutor at the main gate and ask whether a regular visitor pass can be issued. The junction is busy at office hours.
- Danapur: mostly apartments, with independent houses, plots and builder floors, and a road along the Digha-Danapur canal to the Digha side. Cantonment areas have their own entry rules, so check with the family how a visitor is admitted; civilian buildings usually register visitors at the gate.
- Khagaul: a long-settled town with its own municipal council, next to Danapur. Danapur railway station stands within it, which helps tutors coming by train. Roads around the station are busiest at train times and in the evening, so leave some margin.
When do classes run most smoothly?
The pinch points are the Boring Road crossing in the evening rush and Bailey Road at office hours. Three habits keep a weekly class on time:
- Match the tutor to the stretch. A tutor who lives in the same colony cluster, or on the same part of Bailey Road, rarely needs to cross a busy junction to reach you.
- Fix the slot early. A regular time, agreed before the demo and kept each week, lets the tutor plan the trip the same way every time.
- Move specialist subjects online. When the right specialist lives across the city, an online class saves the ride. Our comparison of home and online tutors helps you decide.

Is there a metro station on Bailey Road?
No metro station is open on Bailey Road in Patna yet, though the Red Line is being built beneath it. Planned stations include Danapur, Saguna Mor, RPS Mor, Patliputra and Raja Bazar, but none is open. For now tutors travel along Bailey Road by two-wheeler, car or auto, so set a class time outside the office-hour peak.
Which railway stations help tutors reach north and west Patna?
Digha Bridge Halt, Patliputra Junction and Danapur station are the three railway stations that help tutors reach north and west Patna. Do tutors need a gate pass in Saguna More or Danapur?
Tutors often need a gate pass in Saguna More, where large townships register visitors at the main gate and may issue a regular pass, so arrange it before the demo. In Danapur, cantonment areas have their own entry rules, so check how a visitor is admitted; civilian apartment buildings usually just register visitors at the gate.
What class time suits a home near Boring Road?
A class before or after the evening rush suits a home near Boring Road, because the Boring Road crossing is known for heavy traffic. A tutor who lives in Nageshwar Colony, Sri Krishna Puri, Kidwaipuri or Anandpuri can come through the colonies instead of using the main road. Agree a fixed weekday slot before the free demo class and keep it.
How do tutors reach Digha in Patna?
Tutors reach Digha in Patna by road along Gola Road from Bailey Road, by the Ganga riverfront expressway that starts at Digha, or by train to Digha Bridge Halt. The riverfront expressway and the elevated corridor help tutors skip some older inner roads. Digha's towers register visitors, so confirm the entry process before the demo.
In what order does NXTutors list tutors for a Patna locality?
