Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Chemistry asks three different things of a Class 11 or 12 student. Physical chemistry wants careful numericals, organic chemistry wants a mental map of how one compound becomes another, and inorganic chemistry wants exact statements and reasons. A student in Tiruchirappalli juggling school, perhaps an entrance batch for NEET or JEE, and a practical file rarely gets time with someone who checks all three. That is the job of a home chemistry tutor. NXTutors asks for the syllabus, the target exam and your neighbourhood, then suggests two or three chemistry tutors who fit, with every fee shown before you meet. The first lesson with the tutor you choose is a free demo.
In the CBSE Class 12 exam, chemistry is a theory paper of 70 marks with 33 compulsory questions, plus a 30-mark practical. NEET (UG) on the 2026 pattern gave chemistry 45 of its 180 questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 gave it 25 of 75 questions: twenty with options and five needing a numerical answer. Both NTA exams added four marks for a right answer and took one away for a wrong one; NTA confirms its pattern each year in the bulletin, so always read the latest. For a State Board student, chemistry is one of the subjects of the Higher Secondary examination described below.
Each exam rewards something slightly different: the board wants reasons written in full sentences, NEET wants fast and exact recall of NCERT statements, and JEE wants multi-stage problem solving. A tutor should know which of these your child is chasing before the first lesson. See the important NEET chemistry chapters, our JEE guide to physical, organic and inorganic chemistry, and how we match on the NEET chemistry tutor page.
The Class 12 Higher Secondary examination for State Board students is conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, and chemistry is among the subjects in its timetable. The Directorate has a regional office in Tiruchirappalli and publishes the scheme for each paper on dge.tn.gov.in, where any revision appears; we do not reproduce the chemistry paper's design here for that reason.
The questions to put to a tutor are practical ones. Will lessons follow the state textbook in the medium your child writes in? Will the practical record be kept current through the year rather than rushed at the end? And if NEET or JEE is also in view, can the tutor show, chapter by chapter, where the entrance syllabus goes beyond the state book? Our Tamil Nadu Board tutor page for Tiruchirappalli has more on the State Board.
The 2026-27 curriculum keeps last session's paper design and assigns marks to each of the ten theory chapters. Ranked from the top, they make a ready-made planning list:
| Chapter | Marks | Branch | First thing to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrochemistry | 9 | Physical | Units and signs in cell calculations |
| Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids | 8 | Organic | Named reactions with a worked example each |
| Solutions | 7 | Physical | Concentration terms used consistently |
| Chemical Kinetics | 7 | Physical | Reading rate data and graphs |
| The d- and f-Block Elements | 7 | Inorganic | A reason given for every trend |
| Coordination Compounds | 7 | Inorganic | Naming and isomer counting |
| Biomolecules | 7 | Organic | Definitions and structures learnt exactly |
| Haloalkanes and Haloarenes | 6 | Organic | Which mechanism applies, and why |
| Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers | 6 | Organic | Distinguishing tests |
| Amines | 6 | Organic | Order of basicity, with reasons |
Grouped by branch, that is 33 marks for organic, 23 for physical and 14 for inorganic chemistry. The paper has five lettered sections, some internal choice, and no calculators or log tables. Around 40% of the marks test remembering and understanding; the remaining 60% ask the student to apply, analyse or evaluate, often from a table or graph. Our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide works through each chapter, and the Class 12 chemistry tutor page outlines a board year.
The home lesson should follow whichever chapter the batch is on, not race ahead of it. Within that chapter, a loop that covers all three branches works well:
Of the 30 marks, volumetric analysis and salt analysis bring 8 apiece, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and the viva plus the record file 4. In the 2026-27 syllabus the titration is potassium permanganate against a standard solution of oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and each student weighs out and prepares that standard solution personally.
No burette comes home, but plenty can be practised at a table: the molarity calculation from the weighed mass, a tidy table of burette readings leading to the result, the order of tests in salt analysis from preliminary to confirmatory, a project the student can honestly carry out, and viva favourites such as why permanganate needs no separate indicator.
Class 12 chemistry is built on Class 11 material. Mole calculations sit inside every solutions problem, ideas from equilibrium reappear in cells and electrode potentials, and the reaction types met in early organic chapters drive every conversion. A shaky Class 11 is paid for twice in Class 12, once in board answers and again in mock tests, so steady repair during Class 11, when the timetable has more room, is the easier route. See the Class 11 chemistry tutor page, or the national chemistry home tutor page for how we match elsewhere.
Yes, though such specialists are scarcer in the city than State Board or CBSE tutors, so an early request helps. In ISC, CISCE assesses practical and project work alongside the written paper, and answers are expected to explain rather than state. IB Diploma chemistry, at SL or HL, organises its content under the two ideas of structure and reactivity; its scientific investigation is the student's own, so a tutor may ask probing questions but must not write or redesign any part of it. For Cambridge IGCSE, the science papers are set at Core or Extended tier, as our Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE comparison explains. When the specialist lives elsewhere, online lessons with that person plus a nearby tutor for marked written practice is a workable mix.
Every locality, with its tutor profiles, is on our Tiruchirappalli page. Six of them show the practical differences across the city:
| Neighbourhood | Setting | Settle before the first lesson |
|---|---|---|
| Srirangam | Traditional independent houses on long streets on the river island | A fixed alternative day for festival weeks, when the streets at the centre of the island are crowded |
| Thiruvanaikaval | Houses spreading out from old streets on the island's Kaveri side | Where the tutor can park on the street, and a time clear of the evening rush on the river crossing |
| Woraiyur | An old part of the city, now a major commercial centre with narrow older streets | Arrival before the market streets fill up, ideally by two-wheeler |
| Tennur | A business locality where offices and shops sit beside homes | For an apartment, the gate to use and whether the tutor must sign in |
| KK Nagar | The most densely populated ward, with plotted layouts and newer apartment buildings | A map pin and a nearby landmark, since the layouts are spread out |
| Crawford | A long-settled residential area on Madurai Road near the Junction and the Central Bus Station | A slot after the school-time rush on Madurai Road |
In the weeks before pre-board exams, if a tutor's route starts to fail, turn one of the week's visits into an online lesson and keep revision on schedule. The Srirangam and North Bank zone page has more on the island, and our Tiruchirappalli home tuition guide covers the whole city.
If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on your list gives a demo; changing tutor later is free too. The demo class checklist for parents has more.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are set by each tutor and generally reflect the target exam, how long the tutor has prepared students for it, the evening trip to your door and the weekly number of lessons. You see all of them on the shortlist ahead of the demo; the Tiruchirappalli home tuition fees article lists questions worth asking.
Give us the class and syllabus, the main exam your child is aiming at, the branch that loses most marks, the batch days, your neighbourhood with a landmark, and the evenings that are free. A shortlist of two or three chemistry tutors comes back with fees, and you choose one for a free demo class. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, explained on how we check tutors. When no suitable tutor can reach you, an online or part-online plan is the alternative. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online throughout India. For the other sciences, see our physics and biology pages for Tiruchirappalli.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a personal rate, and every fee on your shortlist appears before the free demo.
Yes. We shortlist tutors who teach from the Higher Secondary textbook in your child's medium and keep the practical record up to date through the year. The Directorate of Government Examinations sets and may revise the Class 12 scheme, so take exam details from dge.tn.gov.in rather than older guides.
A slower, personal loop on the batch's current chapter: one physical numerical watched line by line, the organic conversion map redrawn from memory, inorganic statements quizzed from NCERT with reasons, and two board-style answers marked before the lesson ends. The tutor follows the batch rather than racing ahead.
Electrochemistry, with 9 of the 70 theory marks, followed by aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids with 8. By branch, organic chemistry holds 33 marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14. Conversions therefore belong in every week, and electrochemistry numericals should be secure well before the pre-board exams.
For the 2026-27 CBSE board paper, yes: the solid state and the p-block elements of Groups 15 to 18 are not in the Class 12 syllabus. NTA publishes its own NEET and JEE syllabi, however, and some of that material may still appear there, so check before discarding the notes.
Volumetric analysis and salt analysis bring 8 marks apiece, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and the viva with the record file 4. The titration uses permanganate against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and students weigh out the standard solution themselves, so rehearse the molarity calculation.
Usually, yes. Chathiram Bus Station and Tiruchirappalli Town station are close, so a tutor can arrive by bus or train and finish by auto. The market streets are busiest in the evening, so agree a start time before the shops fill, and say where a two-wheeler can be parked.
Class 11 is usually the better moment. Mole calculations, equilibrium and early organic reaction types sit underneath most Class 12 chapters, so a weak Class 11 costs marks twice, in board answers and in mocks. Repairing it while the timetable still has room makes the final year far more manageable.
