Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A CISCE school in Trichy brings a particular kind of workload. In ICSE, a Class 10 student sits a long list of separate papers, writes full English answers in almost every one, and keeps internal assignments and practical work going through the year. In ISC, the subject list shrinks, but each subject goes much deeper and projects and practicals carry real marks. The hardest part is rarely one difficult topic; it is keeping everything moving at once. This page explains how the ICSE groups and papers are organised, three habits CISCE marking rewards, how to handle internal work without crossing the line into doing it, the ISC rules worth knowing before Class 11, the choices after Class 10, tutor travel to six Trichy localities, and the questions to put to a tutor at the free demo. The authors are Abhinandan Tiwary (ICSE Class 10 maths), Aaditya Kashyap (ICSE science) and Ajay Vatsyayan (ISC maths).
Trichy families choose between the Tamil Nadu State Board, whose Class 10 and Class 12 examinations are conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations; CBSE, which builds its papers on the NCERT books; and CISCE, which awards the ICSE after Class 10 and the ISC after Class 12. NXTutors publishes no shares for any board. What matters for tuition is style. CISCE papers ask for longer answers in English across most subjects, treat physics, chemistry and biology as three separate papers, and are followed each year by examiner reports showing where candidates lost marks. A tutor whose recent students were mainly on another board can know the maths perfectly and still need to show they mark as a CISCE examiner would.
| Group | What the student takes | Typical subjects | External and internal |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | All of it; no choice | English, a second language, and History, Civics and Geography | 80% and 20% |
| II | Two or three subjects | Mathematics and Science for most students; Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science or a further language for others | 80% and 20% |
| III | One or two subjects | Applied choices such as Computer Applications, Art, Physical Education, Commercial or Economic Applications, and Robotics and AI | 50% and 50% |
Because half the Group III marks come from work done during the year, that subject favours a student who keeps up with projects steadily. A rush in the closing weeks rarely wins those marks back.
Decide early whether one tutor will cover all three sciences or whether the weakest paper gets a specialist. Many Trichy families start with one science tutor and add a second only if a single paper keeps falling behind. The Trichy maths and science pages go into each subject.
In mathematics and physics, each step earns its own credit. A tutor should insist that every line is written, with units and the final form stated, even when the student can do it mentally.
Science, history and geography answers are judged partly on how clearly they are expressed. A good ICSE tutor corrects the sentence as well as the fact.
Biology and physics answers often depend on a neat diagram with every part named. Drawing from memory, against the clock, needs regular practice.
To stop early chapters going cold, build a simple monthly rotation from Class 9: every paper gets at least one session a month, one older chapter returns each week, and one timed long answer is written every week. Speed in long answers builds slowly, so starting in the final term is too late.
Assignments, practical files and, in ISC, project work count towards the final result, so they deserve a fixed place in the week. A tutor's proper role is to explain the method, check that the student understands what the task asks, and review drafts for clarity and accuracy. Writing any part of it is not acceptable, and in ICSE mathematics the assignments are marked by an external examiner as well as the teacher. Keep a single list of internal deadlines on the wall, and ask the tutor to check it at the last session of each month.
ISC Mathematics has an 80-mark, three-hour theory paper and 20 marks of project work in both Class 11 and Class 12. Our ISC maths tutor page and the ICSE and ISC maths guide cover both levels.
| Route | What changes | Bridging work in the break after Class 10 |
|---|---|---|
| ISC | The same answer style, but each elective goes deeper, with more practical and project work | An early start on Class 11 maths and physics |
| CBSE | NCERT books, CBSE sample papers and a different theory-practical split; answers become shorter and closer to the text | The first NCERT chapters, read closely, and a few competency-style questions |
| Tamil Nadu State Board | The state's own textbooks; the Higher Secondary course has a language as Part I, English as Part II and a group of subjects as Part III | The textbook's chapter order and worked examples, and the Directorate's earlier papers |
Because ISC fixes subjects early in Class 11, make the decision before the term starts. Our stream choice guide helps with the subject question, and the CBSE and Tamil Nadu State Board pages for Trichy describe the other two routes.
| Locality | Zone | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Karumandapam | KK Nagar and Madurai Road | On the Dindigul road near the Junction; book outside rush hours on that road |
| Golden Rock | Golden Rock and Palakkarai | Railway colonies with an entrance; share the block and the tutor's name ahead of the demo |
| Palakkarai | Golden Rock and Palakkarai | Close-set older streets; park on a quieter lane; afternoons are calmer than market mornings |
| Ariyamangalam | Golden Rock and Palakkarai | Mostly independent houses; avoid shift and office times near the industrial estate |
| Thiruverumbur | Thiruverumbur and Thanjavur Road | Station on the Thanjavur line and frequent buses; the hillock is a useful landmark |
| Navalpattu | Thiruverumbur and Thanjavur Road | On the edge of the city; a tutor from the same corridor, with online sessions for an ISC elective |
In any single neighbourhood, teachers of a particular ISC elective are harder to find than general tutors. Families often settle on a nearby tutor who visits for maths or science, plus someone teaching online for the elective or for literature. Every locality is on the Tiruchirappalli home tutors page, and the Trichy home tuition guide has timing tips for each zone.
For ICSE maths and the three science papers up to Class 10, a tutor in the room is usually worth the journey, because so much of the marking turns on each written line and each labelled diagram. Online works well for an ISC elective whose specialist lives elsewhere, for literature, for brief revision checks close to the papers, and on evenings when travel across the city is hard. If maths or science moves online, the tutor must still see the working: a stylus tablet, an online whiteboard, or a phone camera aimed at the notebook. See our home or online tutor comparison and the online tutors for Trichy page. Other subject pages: Trichy physics, chemistry, biology and English; from Class 11, JEE and NEET. For the board in depth, read our ICSE and ISC board hub.
You choose from two or three matched tutors whose fees you can read beforehand, and a later change of tutor costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how we check tutors). Our demo class checklist lists further questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. What a Trichy ICSE or ISC tutor charges depends on the class, how many papers need help, how near the examinations are and how far the tutor travels. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Tiruchirappalli go further.
Send the board (ICSE or ISC), the class, the subjects, your locality and a nearby landmark, and the times your child is free. The first class is a free demo. Anyone can look through tutor profiles, and teachers can see tuition jobs in Tiruchirappalli.
Trichy families get matched with an ICSE or ISC tutor by sending the board, class, subjects, locality with a landmark and free times. We return two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free; for a scarce ISC elective we may suggest online.
ICSE Class 10 feels heavy for Tiruchirappalli students mainly because of volume: Group I papers, two or three Group II subjects and one or two from Group III. Science alone means three separate two-hour papers, and answers are long and in English. A monthly revision rotation and weekly timed writing from Class 9 help most.
A Trichy student earns the 20 internal ICSE mathematics marks through at least two assignments, each assessed by the subject teacher and an external examiner. The written paper is worth 80 marks over three hours. A tutor can explain method and review drafts for clarity, but must never write any part of the assignment.
A Tiruchirappalli family should know that ISC needs English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most, fixed once 15 September of Class 11 passes. Class 12 can only continue Class 11 subjects. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance, and Physics and Engineering Science cannot be combined.
A Trichy tutor from the State Board or CBSE often knows the content, but must show they mark as a CISCE examiner would. ICSE expects longer English answers, three separate science papers and teaching from specimen papers and the Analysis of Pupil Performance reports. At the demo, check they correct the English of an answer as well as the method.
After ICSE in Trichy, ISC keeps the CISCE answer style with deeper electives, CBSE brings NCERT books with shorter answers, and the State Board uses its own textbooks. The Higher Secondary course has a language as Part I and English as Part II. Decide before Class 11, since ISC fixes subjects by mid-September.
CISCE marking rewards three habits a Tiruchirappalli ICSE tutor should build: complete working in maths and physics, clear English in science and humanities answers, and neatly labelled diagrams. Each written step earns its own credit, and answers are judged partly on expression. Diagrams drawn from memory against the clock need regular practice.
Many Trichy families start with one tutor for all three ICSE sciences and add a specialist only if a single paper keeps falling behind. Physics, chemistry and biology are each a separate two-hour paper of 80 marks, with 20 internal marks from practical work. Strength in one science does not carry over to the others.
For ICSE maths and the three sciences up to Class 10 in Trichy, a tutor at home is usually worth the journey. Marks turn on each written line and labelled diagram. Online works for an ISC elective taught from elsewhere, literature and brief revision checks, but online maths still needs a stylus tablet, whiteboard or notebook camera.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. A Tiruchirappalli ICSE or ISC fee depends on the class, number of papers, how near the exams are and the tutor's travel.
