Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In many Loni homes Hindi is the language of the kitchen table, and English is the one children must write in exams. That gap shows up in different ways. A UP Board student loses marks on the Hindi-to-English translation question; a CBSE student at a school across the Delhi border reads well but writes thin literature answers; a six-year-old guesses words from the first letter. Tell NXTutors the board, the skill that is weak, the language your child thinks in and your colony. Our shortlist has two or three English tutors matched on those points, each fee printed beside the name, and your first lesson with the person you pick is a free demo.
The subject is called English on every board, but the paper behind the name changes a great deal. Start with the row that matches your child.
| Board | Class 10 | Class 12 | Bring to the lesson |
|---|---|---|---|
| UP Board | A 70-mark paper and 30 internal; literature 35, grammar 15, reading 10, writing 10 | One 100-mark paper: literature 40, grammar 25, writing 20, reading 15 | The NCERT readers, the board's model papers and its question bank |
| CBSE | English Language and Literature, 80 marked by the board and 20 by the school | English Core, with 80 for the written paper and 20 for listening, speaking and a project | The NCERT books plus CBSE's own sample papers and answer keys |
| CISCE | ICSE sets two 80-mark papers, one for language and one for literature, with internal assessment | ISC also has separate language and literature papers of 80, each with a project | Set texts and CISCE specimen papers |
| Cambridge or IB | IGCSE First Language English (0500) or English as a Second Language (0510/0511) | IB Language A, examined by unseen text analysis, a comparative essay and an individual oral | Past papers for the exact entry the school made |
The UP Board's 2026-27 Class 10 English syllabus sets a written paper of 70 with 30 internal marks. Literature is the largest block at 35: First Flight brings 23 (15 for prose, 8 for poetry) and Footprints Without Feet 12. Grammar is worth 15, and inside it sits a 4-mark question asking for four Hindi sentences to be put into English. Reading and writing take 10 each.
The model paper allows a reading period and then three hours. Twenty single-mark options fill Part A, shaded on an OMR sheet; Part B is worth 50 and is answered in writing. So a tutor has two jobs: accurate, unhurried choices for Part A, and full literature answers for Part B that refer back to the text. Our UP Board tutors in Loni page covers the other subjects.
In Class 12 the board sets one paper of 100 marks. Literature from Flamingo and Vistas carries 40, and the poetry section can ask about figures of speech, so a student should be able to name a simile or a metaphor and say what it does. Grammar brings 25, and five of those marks are for turning seven or eight Hindi sentences into English. Writing is worth 20: a roughly 150-word article, plus a letter that may go to an editor, raise a complaint or deal with business. Reading makes up the last 15.
The syllabus also lists four unit tests at school level. They are for remedial teaching and do not count in the result, which makes them a useful, low-stakes check on what still needs work. For commerce students in colonies such as Jawahar Nagar, English stays compulsory alongside accountancy and economics, so it needs its own slot in the week.
Translation marks are among the most dependable on the UP Board paper, yet children often leave them to the end. The sentences are short, but each one tests tense, word order, articles and prepositions at the same moment. A simple weekly routine works:
CBSE's Class 10 paper is built on the same two NCERT readers the UP Board uses, but its 80 marks fall another way. Literature is half, at 40. Reading is 20, from a discursive passage and a factual one with a case to study. Grammar takes 10, and writing 10 more, split between a formal letter and an analytical paragraph describing a graph or chart. Speaking and listening are worth 5 of the school's 20. Senior English Core uses Hornbill and Snapshots in Class 11, weighted 26 for reading, 23 for grammar with creative writing and 31 for literature, before Flamingo and Vistas in Class 12.
ICSE and ISC each split English into a language paper and a literature paper. ISC language includes composition, directed writing and a proposal. An IGCSE family should first confirm which English the school has entered, and an IB student prepares for unseen analysis and an individual oral. Teachers for these courses are fewer near Loni, so online lessons are often the practical route; the national English home tutor guide covers each in more depth.
Some Rampark students switch to English medium in Class 11; some children in Lal Bagh change school, board and medium when the family moves from Delhi. Either way the child meets a new language and new content together. A good tutor starts bilingual and ends in English, in planned steps: short passages moved between Hindi and English to show where tense and order break; a reading log of a page a day with two new words; ready opening lines for letters and literature answers; and an agreed date, often after the first term, from which lessons run wholly in English.
For children in Classes 1 to 5, the aim is fluent, confident reading rather than exam skill. Warning signs include guessing words from the first letter, losing the line, or avoiding books altogether. Short sessions on several days a week help more than one long sitting: sounding out new words, reading aloud with gentle correction, and retelling the story in the child's own words. Where English is rarely spoken at home, the tutor can chat about pictures in English and use Hindi only when the child is stuck.
In homes where two children share one study table, one tuition hour can serve both if the tutor plans separate tasks: phonics for the younger child, grammar or a paragraph for the older one. List both children, their classes and boards in your request. If spoken English matters for its own sake, say so too; the spoken English guide for students explains what helps.
Tutors from the Delhi side and the Loni side can both reach the border colonies, so the choice is often wide. The Loni home tuition page lists every locality.
| Colony | Usual request | Tell the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Ved Vihar | Primary reading and writing, often with two siblings in one hour | Lane or plot number and a shop on Loni Road a newcomer can spot |
| Lal Bagh | Catching up after a change of board or medium | Pocket name, gali and house number; the old and the new board |
| Gulab Vatika | Early reading, phonics and handwriting for young children | Block and gali number; the spelling on your papers, Gulab Vatika or Gulab Watika |
| Jawahar Nagar | Board English for Class 11 and 12 students, many in commerce | "Loni Border Jawahar Nagar" and a map pin; a weekend block if evenings are full |
| Khanna Nagar | One tutor for maths, science and English from Class 9 | Gali and house number, a nearby shop, and a fixed slot |
| Rampark | A bridge from Hindi medium into English medium | Rampark or Rampark Extension, with a shop or park as landmark |
The Ankur Vihar and Lal Bagh and Indrapuri and Jawahar Nagar zone pages add more tips, and the Loni home tuition guide compares every part of the town. English also works well online from about Class 3 upward, as long as the tutor sees the written work first; see our online tutors for Loni page.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor decides their own fee, and all of them are visible to you ahead of the demo. Ask which board's English paper they have taught, how written work will be marked between visits, and whether one tutor can take two siblings in the same hour. The Loni home tuition fees guide explains more.
A useful request names the class and board, the weak skill (perhaps translation, literature, grammar, reading, writing or speaking), the language your child is comfortable in, the colony and a landmark, and the days that suit. Two or three tutors come back with fees attached. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works).

Translation carries 4 marks in UP Board Class 10 English and 5 marks in Class 12. Class 10 asks for four Hindi sentences in English, inside a 15-mark grammar section. Class 12 asks for seven or eight sentences, inside 25 grammar marks. Weekly practice sorted by error type makes these marks dependable.
Literature carries the most, with 35 of the 70 written marks in the 2026-27 syllabus. First Flight brings 23 and Footprints Without Feet 12, while grammar takes 15 and reading and writing 10 each. The model paper opens with twenty one-mark questions on an OMR sheet before 50 marks of written answers.
UP Board Intermediate English gives 20 marks to writing, made of an article of about 150 words and a letter. The letter may be to an editor, a complaint or a business letter. Literature from Flamingo and Vistas carries 40 of the 100 marks, and the poetry section can ask about figures of speech.
Two siblings in Ved Vihar can share one English tuition hour if the tutor plans a separate task for each. A younger child may work on phonics while an older one writes a paragraph or practises grammar. List both children, their classes, boards and medium when you send the request.
A tutor helps a Rampark student switching to English medium by starting bilingual and ending fully in English. Short passages are moved between Hindi and English to show where tense and order break, a daily reading log builds vocabulary, and an agreed date marks when lessons run wholly in English.
CBSE Class 10 English rewards literature most, with 40 of 80 board marks from the two NCERT readers. Reading takes 20, grammar 10, and writing 10 through a formal letter and an analytical paragraph on a chart or graph. Listening and speaking are worth 5 of the school's 20 marks.
Phonics and early reading help can be arranged for young children in Gulab Vatika, in English or Hindi medium. Short, regular sessions with games and simple worksheets suit this stage. Give the block and gali number, use the spelling on your own papers, and say which language your child reads most easily.
In an English demo class in Loni, look for a tutor who starts from a recent marked school answer and gets your child reading, speaking or writing at length. The lesson should drift towards English, and the tutor should know how your child's paper is divided, translation question included.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
