Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Most engineering aspirants in Vizag carry two loads at once. The Intermediate MPC course ends in long written board papers, and JEE asks for fast, accurate objective work on much the same chapters. Families often add a coaching batch on top, and the day fills quickly. A home tutor is worth paying for only when the job is clear: the questions nobody else has time to go through, the subject pulling the total down, and the board answers that coaching skips. This page sets out that job for a Visakhapatnam student, how to read the board's own maths blueprint as a revision guide, which parts of a city stretched along the highway tutors can reach, and how plans change between first year, second year and a repeat attempt. The national JEE home tutor hub explains the exam itself in depth.
The National Testing Agency conducts JEE (Main). Its 2026 bulletin set Paper 1 as a computer-based test of three hours: 75 questions split evenly across mathematics, physics and chemistry, each subject carrying 20 multiple-choice items and 5 with a numerical answer, for 300 marks in all. A correct response earned four marks and a wrong one cost a mark, in both question types. There were two sessions, and the bulletin listed 13 languages for the paper. Paper 1 candidates who rank high enough qualify for JEE (Advanced), which the IITs run as two compulsory papers of three hours each, with no more than two attempts in consecutive years. Every one of these rules can change, so read the current documents on jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in before your child registers.
A Vizag student on the state syllabus writes the Intermediate examinations of the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh. The second-year model papers the board has published for IPE 2027 show how different the two kinds of paper are, even when the chapters overlap.
| Paper | Shape | What it rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Intermediate Mathematics II | 100 marks over three hours; twelve one-mark and ten two-mark questions, then any seven four-mark and any five eight-mark answers | Complete written solutions, with every step visible |
| Intermediate Physics Paper II and Chemistry II | 85 marks each over three hours; nine one-mark and fourteen two-mark questions, then any eight four-mark and any two eight-mark answers | Definitions, derivations and explained reasoning |
| JEE Main Paper 1 (2026 bulletin) | 75 objective and numerical questions on screen, with negative marking | Speed, accuracy and knowing when to leave a question |
The lesson for tuition is simple. A student who trains only for objective speed will write thin board answers, and a student who trains only for the board will be slow on screen. A good tutor keeps both in the week: a few long written answers marked for steps, and a set of timed objective questions on the same chapter.
The Intermediate board publishes a blueprint beside each model paper, showing how many marks each topic can carry. For second-year Mathematics II, the paper offers 136 marks of questions, of which a student answers 100. Integrals lead with 23 marks on offer; determinants, vector algebra and probability carry 15 each; application of derivatives and differential equations carry 11 each; three-dimensional geometry carries 10. Relations and functions, matrices and continuity sit at 7, and inverse trigonometric functions, application of integrals and linear programming at 5.
For a JEE student this list does two jobs. It shows which chapters the board paper leans on, and all of them are Class 12 chapters a JEE student has to know anyway. Calculus, vectors and probability are where a tutor's time serves both papers at once. The topics with small board weight still need attention for the entrance, so the tutor should not drop them from timed practice. Our JEE maths topic plan sets out the entrance side chapter by chapter.
If there is no coaching batch, the tutor also has to supply a chapter calendar and a source of full-length mock papers, and the family has to hold the daily study routine. Write those responsibilities down at the start. Our coaching or home tutor guide was written for another city, but its way of dividing the work applies in Vizag too.
Visakhapatnam runs a long way along National Highway 16, from Pendurthi and Gopalapatnam in the west to Gajuwaka and Duvvada in the south and PM Palem in the north. A tutor who has to cross the whole city every week rarely lasts the year, so we begin with tutors on your side.
| Locality | Getting there | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| PM Palem | Mostly by two-wheeler; city buses link it with the railway station and the steel plant side | Apartment gates usually want a visitor pass or a call to the security desk |
| Yendada | City buses from the old city, though a two-wheeler is quicker | Some complexes have separate gates for different towers; send the tower number |
| Gopalapatnam | Simhachalam railway station, the local bus station and the BRTS road from Pendurthi | Leave a margin for the evening build-up at the highway junctions |
| Kancharapalem | The BRTS corridor through NAD X Road, or a train to Visakhapatnam Junction and an auto | In the older lanes, a clear landmark saves the first visit |
| Gajuwaka | The Gajuwaka bus station, or Duvvada and Simhachalam stations within reach | An early-evening slot avoids the market streets at their busiest |
| Duvvada | City buses along the Gajuwaka and Kurmannapalem belt | Central-city tutors face a long trip; look to the Gajuwaka side or go online |
The zone guides cover each side of the city: Madhurawada and the north, Gopalapatnam and the west, Gajuwaka and the south, Central Vizag and Beach Road and MVP Colony. Every locality is listed on the Visakhapatnam home tutors page, and the Visakhapatnam home tuition guide walks through all five zones.
| Subject | Usual format | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | At home | Students lose most time choosing the principle and setting up the problem; the tutor needs to see that happen |
| Mathematics | At home, with mock reviews online | Long calculus and vector work on paper; going through a timed paper suits a shared screen |
| Chemistry | Online for organic and inorganic recall; home if physical chemistry numericals lag | Recall checks are short and frequent, which online handles well |
For Advanced-level problem solving, the right specialist may live at the other end of the city or in another state. Online removes the trip, and our online tutors for Visakhapatnam page explains how lessons are set up. The general trade-offs are in our home or online tutor comparison.
The jump from Class 10 is steepest here. Mechanics, early calculus and the mole concept need to be secure before second year, and an error notebook started in the first month pays off later. Keep first-year board chapters written up as you go rather than leaving them for the end.
New chapters, first-year revision, the 85- and 100-mark board papers and the January session all compete. Use the maths blueprint to order revision, set full timed papers well before the first session, and keep weekly written answers so the Intermediate papers do not become a scramble.
Start from last year's papers: which subject, which chapters and which kind of error cost the marks. Daytime home sessions are easier to arrange and widen the choice of tutor. Confirm attempt and eligibility rules in the current bulletin and brochure before committing.
For subject depth, see the JEE physics tutor page and our topic plans for physics and chemistry. The state-board side is covered on AP Board tutors in Visakhapatnam, and CBSE students can read CBSE home tutors in Visakhapatnam.

Yes, if the tutor has a defined job. The useful one is weekly: unsolved questions from college or coaching, a review of every wrong test answer, and focused time on the weakest subject. Board answers still need written practice each week, because the Intermediate papers mark full solutions rather than final answers.
The board's second-year Mathematics II model paper is 100 marks of written answers over three hours, with choice among the four- and eight-mark questions. JEE Main Paper 1, under the 2026 bulletin, was 75 objective and numerical questions on computer with negative marking. One rewards full working, the other speed and judgement.
The board's Mathematics II blueprint offers 23 marks on integrals and 15 each on determinants, vector algebra and probability. Those chapters also matter for JEE, so time there serves both papers. Lighter board topics, such as linear programming, still need timed entrance practice, so a tutor should not drop them.
Tutors teach across the five zones: Central Vizag, Beach Road and MVP Colony, Madhurawada and the north, Gopalapatnam and the west, and Gajuwaka and the south. The city runs a long way along the highway, so we look first for tutors on your side of it. Share your locality and a nearby landmark.
Usually a mix. Physics suits home sessions because the tutor needs to watch how a problem is set up. Maths works at home with mock reviews on a shared screen. Chemistry recall is short and frequent, which suits online. For Advanced-level problems, an online specialist from elsewhere often beats the nearest available tutor.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with JEE toward the upper end and JEE Advanced specialists able to charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the demo. Sessions a week and the number of subjects shape the monthly total.
Send the class, board, subjects, coaching and college timings, and your locality. We match two or three tutors, show each fee, and you take a free demo with the one you prefer. Bring a few unsolved problems and watch who does the solving. If the fit is wrong, switching later is free.
