Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Visakhapatnam is a long city. From Pendurthi in the west to PM Palem in the north, and down through Gajuwaka to Duvvada in the south, much of it strings out along National Highway 16, and a tutor who lives at one end rarely keeps up weekly visits to the other. Online lessons take that distance away, and they also open the door to specialists who do not live in Vizag at all. This guide from the NXTutors Academic Team explains when online tuition is the sensible choice for a Vizag student and when it is not, how to arrange it on NXTutors, what your child needs at the desk, how to judge an online lesson, and how to combine screen lessons with home visits from the same tutor.
A tutor based near Gajuwaka can reach Kurmannapalem easily, but a weekly evening trip to Yendada or Arilova is another matter, with the highway at its busiest. When the teacher you want lives at the other end, online lets you choose on teaching rather than on distance.
Beside the two state boards, CBSE and CISCE's ICSE and ISC, Vizag has a smaller group of IB and Cambridge IGCSE students. For those programmes, and for a narrow ISC elective, the specialist your child needs may live across the city or in another state. Online widens the search to the whole country.
College hours, a coaching batch and the ride home can fill an Intermediate student's day until late. A short, concentrated screen lesson at nine at night can still happen; a home visit at that hour usually cannot. Our JEE and NEET pages for Vizag explain how tuition fits beside coaching.
The Intermediate board publishes model papers for vocational courses, from Medical Lab Technician to Computer Graphics and Animation, and both state boards set subject papers in English (EM) and Telugu (TM) versions. A tutor who knows that exact course, or teaches comfortably in that medium, may be easier to find online.
Online is not right for everyone, and it is better to know that before paying for a month of lessons. Keep a home tutor, at least for now, in these cases:
These are reasons to wait, not to rule online out. Most children who start at home can move to the screen later, once routines are settled.
| Situation | Usually suits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A young child, with a tutor living in the same zone | Home | The child needs someone alongside; the tutor's trip is short |
| A settled SSC, CBSE or ICSE student in Class 9 or 10 | Online, or a mix | More teachers of that exact board to choose from, and nobody on the road after dark |
| An Intermediate student who also attends coaching | Screen lessons in the week, one visit on Saturday or Sunday | Screen lessons fit late evenings; the visit carries the long written work |
| IB, IGCSE or an ISC elective | Online | Specialists are few in any one part of the city |
| Family in the north, the right tutor in the south, or the reverse | Online | A cross-city trip on the highway every week does not last |
| Newer layouts on the city's edge, such as Pendurthi or Duvvada | Both | One visit a week from a nearby tutor, specialist subjects online |
| A vocational Intermediate course | Online, or both | Few tutors teach any single course; the search has to be wide |
The general pros and cons are laid out in our home tutor or online tutor article.
| Step | What you do | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Flip the home-page switch to Online, or add the word online to what you type, as in online Intermediate maths second year | Location stops filtering the results, so teachers based anywhere in India are included |
| Narrow down | Open Find Tutors in online mode | Further filters: subject, board, class, highest fee, years of experience, rating and the tutor's gender |
| Not sure yet? | Choose Either on the switch | A local tutor for visits can sit on the same list as online teachers from other cities |
| Ask for a demo | Set Mode to online on the demo form, with class, board, EM or TM, and good times | Two or three matched tutors come back, each with a fee |
| Free first lesson | Meet the tutor on screen | You settle the video app together, and how your child's notebook will be seen |
| Keep or change | Tell us how it went | A poor fit means another tutor; changing later is free |
A home search can also bring up online tutors. On each locality page, we list tutors in that area, then the zone, then the rest of Visakhapatnam, and after that online tutors elsewhere in Andhra Pradesh and across India, with every card showing where the tutor is based. When such a name appears, it is usually because nobody nearby teaches what you asked for, which makes it worth opening.
Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (see how we check tutors). The check concerns identity only; it is not a police or background check, and the teaching itself is for you to judge in the demo.
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Laptop or tablet | Graphs, ledgers and multi-line working are unreadable on a phone |
| A second camera on the notebook, or a stylus tablet | The tutor follows the working as it is written; paper also keeps the habits needed in the examination hall |
| A shared whiteboard or document | Both people write in one place, and the page becomes the lesson notes |
| Headset with microphone | Household noise in the evening stops drowning out explanations |
| A table in a common room | Light, posture, and a parent who can look in |
| Phone data as a back-up, devices charged | A dropped connection or power cut need not end the lesson |
Use the free demo as a rehearsal. If the tutor cannot follow your child's working clearly, fix the set-up before any paid lesson. More practical advice is in our online versus offline tutoring article.
If a tutor spends the lesson reading slides aloud, ask for a change. Our demo class checklist for parents has more to watch for.
The arrangement many families end up with is a blend, kept with one tutor. Some patterns that suit Vizag:
A teacher who knows your child is worth more than either format, so try to keep the same tutor for both.
Set a few rules at the start and keep them. Lessons happen on a shared family device in a common room, never on a phone behind a closed door. Links and messages go to a parent's number, or to a group a parent belongs to. Video stays on for the tutor and the student, and the conversation does not move to private messaging apps. With younger children a parent stays within earshot, at least in the first weeks. And nothing personal is shared beyond what the lesson needs, whether photos, addresses or school details.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. With no journey to make, and journeys in a city this long take real time, a tutor may quote a little less for lessons on screen. A sought-after specialist often keeps one rate for both. In practice, the class, the board, the subject and how many lessons a week you book matter more than whether the lesson is online. Fees are visible before the demo; read home tuition fees in Visakhapatnam and our pricing guide.
Send us the class, board and medium, the subjects, whether lessons should be online only or mixed with visits, your locality if visits are part of it, and the evenings your child is free. If you would like to see local tutors before deciding, start from a locality page such as Yendada, Arilova, Pendurthi, Gajuwaka, Kurmannapalem or Duvvada, where nearby tutors are listed ahead of online ones.
Then book a free demo class, look through online tutor profiles, or begin at the Visakhapatnam home tutors page, which covers all five zones, and the Visakhapatnam home tuition guide. State-board families can read AP Board tutors in Visakhapatnam, and ICSE families ICSE home tutors in Visakhapatnam. Teachers who would like to teach Vizag students can see Visakhapatnam tuition jobs.
Mostly because of distance and choice. The city stretches a long way along the highway, so the right teacher may live at the far end, and specialists in IB, IGCSE or an ISC elective are few locally. Online also suits Intermediate students whose college and coaching leave only late evenings.
Set the switch under the home-page search to Online, or include the word online in what you type. Results then ignore location. Find Tutors in online mode adds filters for board, class, highest fee, experience, rating and the tutor's gender, and the demo form lets you mark the lesson as online.
Yes. Mark the Mode as online on the demo form and give the class, board, EM or TM, and convenient times. You receive two or three matched tutors with their fees and take the first lesson free on screen, settling the video app and the notebook camera with the tutor.
Yes, if you say so in the request. Both Andhra Pradesh boards publish subject papers in English (EM) and Telugu (TM) versions, and practice should match the version your child writes. Searching online widens the choice of tutors who teach comfortably in that medium and know the board's model papers.
A laptop or tablet rather than a phone, a headset, and a second view of the notebook: a phone on a stand aimed down at the page works, as does a stylus tablet. A shared whiteboard, a table in a common room and phone data as a back-up complete the set.
Yes, and it is a common choice. A weekend visit handles new topics and long written answers, while weekday screen lessons cover doubts and homework. When the highway is jammed, for example on cricket match days near PM Palem, that week's visit can simply move online at the same time.
Sometimes. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Without the journey a tutor may quote less, though in-demand specialists often keep one rate.
