ICSE & ISC home tutors by locality in Visakhapatnam

ICSE and ISC home tutors in Visakhapatnam: three science papers, long English answers, careful electives

Vizag students sit the two Andhra Pradesh boards, CBSE, and CISCE's ICSE and ISC. Because so much local tuition is built around the state papers, the tutor nearest your home may know them far better than the council's style, and the nearest tutor is not always the right one. The board itself is demanding mainly because of breadth. Class 10 brings more separate papers than parents expect, almost every answer is written at length in English, and the ISC years add practicals and projects with fixed weight. This page sets out how the CISCE route is organised, how it compares with the state papers your neighbours write, how to keep a wide syllabus from going cold, which localities tutors can reach, and how to test a tutor against CISCE's style in the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary teaches ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap the ICSE sciences, and Ajay Vatsyayan ISC maths.

ICSE beside the state papers your neighbours write

Many Vizag tutors spend most of their week on the SSC of the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh. Its 2027 model papers split General Science into two 50-mark papers, Physical Science and Biological Science, and every subject paper comes in an English and a Telugu version. ICSE goes further in both directions: physics, chemistry and biology are three separate papers, and the answers are expected in full English sentences throughout. A tutor who is strong on state papers knows the content, but should show at the demo that they mark to the council's expectations, which are spelt out in its specimen papers and in the subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance the council releases after each examination season.

How ICSE Class 10 subjects are grouped

ICSE groups and the split between the final paper and internal marks (CISCE regulations)
GroupWhat it holdsFinal paper : internal
Group I, compulsoryEnglish, a second language, and History, Civics and Geography80 : 20
Group II, two or three chosenOptions include Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science and a modern foreign or classical language80 : 20
Group III, one chosenOne applied subject; the list runs from Computer Applications and Art to Physical Education and Robotics and AI50 : 50

Half the Group III mark comes from work done in school, so that subject rewards steady project work through the year far more than a burst of revision at the end.

The maths paper and the three science papers

Mathematics

One three-hour written paper for 80 marks. The remaining 20 come from at least two assignments, each marked by the school's teacher and separately by an external examiner. Commercial topics such as banking and shares sit beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and every step of working is expected on the page.

Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Each is its own two-hour paper of 80 marks, with 20 more for internally assessed practical work. Marks in one cannot rescue another, so decide early whether one tutor covers all three or the weakest needs a specialist.

For the maths side in more depth, see our ICSE and ISC maths guide and maths home tutors in Visakhapatnam; for the sciences, science home tutors in Visakhapatnam.

Keeping a wide syllabus from going cold

A common way to lose ICSE marks is not a chapter that was never understood, but one studied in Class 9 that has faded by the time of the board paper. The answer is revision in rounds, and a parent can check it is happening:

  1. A rolling return. Every few weeks, one session goes back to an older chapter in each paper, with a short written test.
  2. Timed writing early. Long answers against the clock from Class 9, not only in the final term, because writing speed grows slowly.
  3. A project calendar. Every internal assignment and practical with its due date, looked at once a month.
  4. The examiner's view. After each school test, the tutor compares your child's answers with the common errors CISCE reports, and fixes the same habits.

What a good ICSE session looks like

A useful session has a recognisable shape. It opens with the student's own attempts from the week, marked line by line, so that the tutor responds to real errors rather than to a textbook plan. One new idea follows, taught from the school book and then tested with a question in the council's style. The session closes with one complete answer written against the clock: a geometry proof, a chemistry equation set, a biology explanation with a labelled figure, or an English answer on a set text. Over a term, those closing answers become a file the student can revise from, and they show a parent at a glance whether the writing is getting sharper.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: rules worth knowing early

  • Every ISC student takes English plus three to five electives; the ceiling is six subjects.
  • The subject list freezes on 15 September of the year a student registers in Class 11, and nothing new can be started in Class 12.
  • Promotion to Class 12 needs 35% in four subjects, English among them, and 75% attendance.
  • Practical examinations are compulsory where a subject has them; Physics cannot be paired with Engineering Science.
  • Each subject is graded on a scale from 1 to 9; the pass certificate asks for four subjects, English included, along with Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.

ISC Mathematics carries 80 marks of theory over three hours and 20 of project work in each year; our ISC maths tutor page covers it.

After Class 10: ISC, CBSE or the Intermediate course

A Vizag student finishing ICSE has three common routes. ISC keeps the council's answer style while each elective goes deeper and practical work grows. Switching to CBSE for Class 11 means NCERT textbooks, the board's own sample papers and its theory-practical weighting; the subject knowledge transfers easily, while answers have to become shorter and follow the textbook's wording. The Intermediate course under the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, brings the state's prescribed books and three-hour papers with choice in the longer answers; read its model papers on bie.ap.gov.in before deciding. Because ISC fixes subjects in mid-September of Class 11, settle the choice before term starts, and use the summer for a bridge into the new course's first chapters. Compare the routes on our CBSE and AP Board pages for Visakhapatnam, and in the stream choice guide.

How ICSE tutors reach six localities

  • North: in Yendada, newer complexes keep a visitor list and some towers have their own gates, so send the tower number. In Arilova, with hills around, describe the turning off the main road.
  • West: Kancharapalem is close to Visakhapatnam Junction and on the BRTS corridor, so tutors rarely need a vehicle. Further out, Pendurthi has spread-out layouts; give the plot number and a landmark.
  • South: Gajuwaka apartment blocks often register visitors at the gate. Around Kurmannapalem, factory shift changes load the highway, so agree a slot with the tutor first.

All localities are listed on the Visakhapatnam home tutors page.

Home for maths and science, online for an elective

ICSE maths and the three sciences reward a tutor sitting beside the notebook, since most marks are won or lost line by line. ISC electives and English literature are different: the specialist your child needs may live across the city or in another state. A common arrangement is a local tutor at home for maths or physics and online sessions for one elective. If maths or science goes online, insist on a writing tablet or a camera over the notebook, so the tutor sees the working as it happens. See online tutors for Visakhapatnam.

Does the tutor teach the way the council marks?

  1. Name the council's material: which specimen paper and which Analysis of Pupil Performance does the tutor use?
  2. In maths, does every line of working, every unit and the final form get checked?
  3. In one demo, can they move between a physics calculation and a labelled biology figure?
  4. When your child writes an answer, is the English sharpened along with the science?
  5. For ISC, how will they support a project or practical record while leaving the work to your child?

You receive two or three matched tutors with each fee shown before the demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete.

ICSE & ISC Home Tutor in Visakhapatnam (Classes 6–12): common questions

Can I find an ICSE or ISC home tutor in Visakhapatnam, and how does matching work?

Yes, to find an ICSE or ISC home tutor in Visakhapatnam, tell us the board, class, subjects, your locality and suitable slots. We shortlist two or three matched tutors who can reach you, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, switching tutor later is free, and an ISC elective may go online beside a local maths tutor.

How does ICSE science in Visakhapatnam differ from the AP SSC science papers?

ICSE science in Visakhapatnam is three separate two-hour papers of 80 marks for physics, chemistry and biology, each with 20 internal practical marks. The AP board's 2027 SSC model papers instead split General Science into two 50-mark papers, Physical Science and Biological Science, in English and Telugu versions. ICSE answers are written at length in English throughout.

How do ICSE maths internal marks work for Vizag Class 10 students?

For Visakhapatnam Class 10 students, ICSE Mathematics is one three-hour paper of 80 marks, and the other 20 come from at least two assignments. The school's teacher and an external examiner each mark every assignment separately, so steady work through the year counts. A tutor may guide method and presentation, but the assignment must be the student's own.

Which ISC rules should a Class 11 family in Visakhapatnam know early?

A Class 11 ISC family in Visakhapatnam should know that English is compulsory, with three to five electives and six subjects at most. The list freezes on 15 September of the registration year. A Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English, plus 75% attendance.

Can a Vizag tutor who mostly teaches the state board handle ICSE?

A Visakhapatnam tutor who mostly teaches the state board can often handle ICSE content, since maths and science overlap a great deal. ICSE, though, expects long English answers, three separate science papers and marking that follows CISCE's specimen papers and Analysis of Pupil Performance. At the demo, ask which ICSE papers they taught lately and watch whether they correct the written answer.

After ICSE in Visakhapatnam, should my child pick ISC, CBSE or the Intermediate course?

After ICSE in Visakhapatnam, the choice between ISC, CBSE and the Intermediate course depends on subjects and plans. ISC keeps the familiar answer style while electives go deeper; CBSE brings NCERT and its sample papers; the Intermediate course follows the state's books and model papers on bie.ap.gov.in. Decide before Class 11, since ISC locks subjects in mid-September.

What does an ICSE or ISC tutor cost per hour in Visakhapatnam?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For ICSE and ISC in Visakhapatnam, the class, the number of papers, how close the examination is and the tutor's journey shape the quote, and each fee appears before the free demo.

Should ICSE subjects in Visakhapatnam be taught at home or online?

For ICSE in Visakhapatnam, maths and the three sciences usually suit a tutor at home beside the notebook. An ISC elective or English literature may go online because the right specialist lives elsewhere. A common plan is a local tutor for maths or physics plus online sessions for one elective, with a writing tablet or notebook camera for any online maths.

Why does the ICSE Group III subject need steady work in Vizag?

The ICSE Group III subject needs steady work from Visakhapatnam students because half its marks, 50 of 100, are internal. Groups I and II are split 80 and 20. Group III is one applied subject, from Computer Applications and Art to Physical Education and Robotics and AI, so project work through the year matters more than late revision.

How should an ICSE tutor in Visakhapatnam stop Class 9 chapters going cold?

An ICSE tutor in Visakhapatnam should revise in rounds, returning every few weeks to an older chapter in each paper with a short written test. Timed long answers should start in Class 9, a project calendar should be checked monthly, and each school test should be compared with the common errors CISCE reports, so the same habits get fixed.
