Maths tutor jobs in Ahmedabad

A GSEB Standard 10 maths paper opens with 24 compulsory one-mark items before a single long answer is written, and the HSC Science maths paper opens with 50 multiple-choice questions on an OMR sheet with an hour to finish them. Maths tutoring in Ahmedabad is shaped by that build: speed and accuracy on objective items, then full written working where the student chooses five of eight four-mark questions. A tutor who trains both halves is what Gujarat-board families look for.

Who asks for maths tutors in Ahmedabad

GSEB students are a large part of maths demand, from Standard 8 or 9 through the SSC and into HSC Science Group A or AB. The board's 2025-26 Standard 10 maths design is three hours and 80 marks in four sections: all 24 one-mark items, any 9 of 13 two-mark answers, any 6 of 9 three-mark answers and any 5 of 8 four-mark answers. About a third of the marks test knowledge and a quarter application, with a tenth for higher-order thinking. GSEB offers two Standard 10 papers, Mathematics (Standard), subject 12, and Mathematics (Basic), subject 18. Families often discover late that the choice matters for Standard 11 science, and they value a tutor who gives an honest view of whether the Standard paper is within reach.

In Standard 12, the board teaches maths from NCERT textbooks, as it has since June 2019, but its paper is very much its own. Mathematics 050 is three hours and 100 marks: Part A is 50 one-mark OMR questions in one hour, and Part B gives two hours for 8 of 12 two-mark, 6 of 9 three-mark and 4 of 6 four-mark answers. Group A students also sit GUJCET, whose maths paper in 2026 was 40 one-mark questions in 60 minutes, about ninety seconds each. Some students add JEE Main, which NTA's 2026 bulletin built as 20 multiple-choice and five numerical-answer questions per subject.

CBSE, ICSE and ISC students across Satellite, Bodakdev, Prahlad Nagar and Chandkheda make up the other big group, and a smaller number take IB Mathematics or Cambridge IGCSE. Medium is the detail that most often decides a match: a Gujarati-medium student writes answers using the textbook's Gujarati terms, and many switch to English material in Standard 11 or for national entrances.

Where in Ahmedabad the work is

Ahmedabad's two metro lines help a maths tutor build a cluster of students. The Blue and Red Lines cross at Old High Court; the Red Line runs from Motera Stadium through Sabarmati and Vijay Nagar to Paldi and APMC, and the Blue Line from Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam. A tutor living near either can serve Navrangpura, Paldi & Ellisbridge and the Thaltej and Memnagar side of Satellite, Vastrapur & Bodakdev without a vehicle. Tutors from Gandhinagar can reach Chandkheda and Sabarmati in Naranpura, Gota & Chandkheda via the Gandhinagar line at Motera Stadium.

Satellite, Jodhpur, Vastrapur, Gota, Ghatlodia and the whole Prahlad Nagar, Bopal & Shela corridor have no station. In Bopal and Shela especially, families keep core subjects with a tutor who lives nearby and take specialist subjects online, so a maths tutor based in South Bopal can fill a week without crossing the river. On the east bank, Vastral and Amraiwadi sit on the Blue Line within Nikol, Naroda & Bapunagar.

What families in Ahmedabad expect

  • Command of the paper the student sits: GSEB Standard or Basic, HSC 050, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE or ISC.
  • OMR speed drills for Section A and Part A, separate from written practice.
  • Full written working for three- and four-mark answers, and the habit of choosing questions quickly.
  • Ability to teach in Gujarati or to check answers written with Gujarati terms, if you list GSEB Gujarati medium.
  • Use of the board's question bank and e-service model papers rather than only guidebooks.
  • For Group A students, a plan that runs HSC and GUJCET practice side by side from the same chapters.
  • A fixed schedule that works around Navratri evenings and Uttarayan in mid-January.

How to get picked

Ahmedabad families read a maths profile for board, class and medium together. "GSEB Standard 9–12, Gujarati and English medium; HSC 050 and GUJCET maths; CBSE Class 10" gives a parent in Naranpura or Maninagar what they need in one line. Name the zones you will travel to, and add your nearest metro station if you ride the train; families often name theirs in the request.

In the demo, set five quick objective items on a printed sheet and time them, then teach one four-mark question with complete working. Explain to the parent how you would split the week between OMR speed and written answers, and what you would do about the Standard or Basic decision if it is coming up. Your fee is shown before the demo; the tutor terms page explains how you get paid.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

What is the difference between GSEB Mathematics Standard and Basic?

Standard is subject 12 and Basic is subject 18. Both use the same 80-mark, four-section frame; the difference is depth. Students heading for Science with maths should check with the school what it requires.

How is the HSC Science maths paper built?

Mathematics 050 has Part A, 50 one-mark OMR questions in one hour, and Part B, two hours of written answers with choice in each section, 100 marks in all. Check the current design on gseb.org.

Do Ahmedabad maths students need GUJCET help?

Group A and AB science students sit GUJCET for degree engineering. Its maths paper in 2026 was 40 questions in 60 minutes on Standard 12 content, so it pairs naturally with HSC teaching.

Do I have to teach in Gujarati?

No, but GSEB Gujarati-medium students write in the textbook's Gujarati terms, so say clearly which medium you can teach and correct.

Which areas suit a maths tutor without a vehicle?

Stations on the Red and Blue Lines: Paldi, Ellisbridge, Vijay Nagar, Sabarmati, Thaltej, Gurukul Road, Kankaria East, Vastral and Amraiwadi. Bopal, Shela, Satellite and Gota need a two-wheeler.

Is joining free for maths tutors?

Yes. Joining and onboarding are free and the Free plan includes monthly lead credits. Paid plans are optional subscriptions.
