CISCE's two certificates, ICSE at the end of Class 10 and ISC at the end of Class 12, ask more writing of a student than most boards do, spread across more separate papers. In Amritsar, where most students sit the Punjab School Education Board or CBSE, an ICSE or ISC family needs a tutor who knows that style of paper and does not treat it as a variant of another board. Our Amritsar page notes that students in the city are mostly on the Punjab School Education Board or CBSE, with others on CISCE's ICSE and ISC and a small group on IB or IGCSE. We do not publish shares. The Punjab board prescribes its own textbooks and publishes paper structures and model papers on pseb.ac.in; CBSE builds on NCERT. ICSE differs from both in three ways that matter for tuition: answers are expected in full English sentences in nearly every subject, science is three separate papers, and CISCE publishes subject-wise reports on where candidates lost marks. A tutor strong on another board's papers should be able to show they can mark to CISCE's expectations.
Because the Group III subject gives half its marks to internal work, it rewards a student who keeps projects moving through the year. A tutor can help plan and check that work; the student must still do it.

Strength in one science does not carry the other two. Ask whether one tutor will take all three or whether the weakest paper needs a specialist. CISCE's Analysis of Pupil Performance, issued after each exam season, shows subject by subject where marks were lost, and a good tutor uses it beside the specimen papers. Every few weeks, one session returns to an old chapter in each paper, so nothing from Class 9 goes cold by the board year.
Speed in long answers grows slowly. Start timed answers early, not only in the last term, and mark them line by line.
Internal work in maths, the sciences and the Group III subject goes on one list with dates, checked at the start of every month.
A typical session with a good ICSE tutor begins with the student's own attempts, marked in detail, moves to one new topic, and ends with a single full answer written against the clock.
The groundwork starts before Class 9. In Classes 6 to 8, school exams are the only stake, which makes them the right years to build ICSE habits without pressure: full-sentence answers in history and science, every step shown in maths, and scientific terms used exactly. A child who arrives in Class 9 with those habits spends the two ICSE years on content rather than on learning how to write an answer.

English is a Group I subject in ICSE and the one compulsory subject in ISC, and promotion in Class 11 depends on it. It also shapes marks elsewhere, because history, the sciences and even maths word problems are answered in written English. Many Amritsar children speak Punjabi or Hindi at home, which is no obstacle as long as written practice is regular.
