For a State Board family in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), "the board" means the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. It sets the SSC at the end of Standard X and the HSC at the end of Standard XII, and it runs one of its nine divisional boards from an office in the city. This guide explains what that office covers, why the subject code is the first thing a tutor should ask about, how one HSC subject is examined in detail, where a home tutor helps between Standard IX and XII, and how we match you with someone who can get to your locality every week. Rules and schemes are revised from time to time; the official site, mahahsscboard.in, always has the current version.
The State Board itself is based in Pune and works under the Board Act of 1965, which it publishes on its website. Day-to-day work is spread across nine divisional boards. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Divisional Board, which the board's records date to 1966, serves five districts: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Parbhani, Jalna and Hingoli. Its office is on Railway Station Road in Usmanpura, the Osmanpura area of the city, and it is headed by a Divisional Chairman with a Divisional Secretary.
For a family, the papers are the same as anywhere else in Maharashtra; what the divisional board changes is where the administration happens. In practice, schools and junior colleges handle most of a student's dealings with the board, from exam forms to marks entry. Parents meet the board mainly through its website, which carries the timetables and results for both examinations, the subject lists and syllabi, and the evaluation schemes that show how each paper is built.
| Standard | Exam | What changes | Typical tutoring need |
|---|---|---|---|
| IX | School exams | The SSC pattern begins in earnest; mathematics and science split into parts | Habits: written working, diagrams, regular revision |
| X | SSC, set by the board | The first public exam, with internal marks counted alongside | Steady practice from the board's sample papers |
| XI | Junior college exams | New stream, new subjects and often a new institution | Closing gaps quickly, starting with the subject that feels hardest |
| XII | HSC, set by the board | Theory papers plus practical or internal marks in each subject | One plan for the HSC and any entrance test |
The jump into Standard XI is often where a tutor helps most. The syllabus deepens, the timetable changes and, for students who studied in Marathi, the textbooks may now be in English. A tutor who catches that in the first term saves a difficult Standard XII.
The board publishes a subject code and syllabus for every SSC and HSC general subject, and the code is more precise than the name. Several HSC subjects exist in more than one version. Information Technology, for example, has a Science paper (code 97), an Arts paper (98) and a Commerce paper (99), each with its own evaluation scheme on the board's website. Mathematics and Statistics also has separate science and commerce versions. Two students who both say "I take IT" may be preparing for different papers.
When you ask for a tutor, give us the code from your child's timetable or admit card if you have it. A tutor who asks for it before the first session is already working the right way.
Information Technology is one of the HSC science options, and its scheme shows clearly how the board mixes objective questions, written answers and practical work. According to the board's evaluation scheme, the HSC examination is out of 100: an 80-mark theory paper on the full syllabus, taken online in two and a half hours, plus a 20-mark practical of three hours. Of the 80 theory marks, 60 are for objective content and 20 for subjective content.
| Chapter | Topic | Marks | Marks with option |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Advanced Web Designing | 20 | 25 |
| 2 | Introduction to SEO | 10 | 12 |
| 3 | Advanced JavaScript | 15 | 20 |
| 4 | Emerging Technologies | 10 | 12 |
| 5 | Server-Side Scripting (PHP) | 15 | 15 |
| 6 | E-commerce and E-Governance | 10 | 12 |
The sample format for the preliminary and final papers is almost entirely short items: ten fill-in-the-blanks, ten true-or-false, ten single-answer multiple-choice questions, ten more with two correct answers (worth two marks each), two with three correct answers, a matching question, five brief answers chosen from eight, and two short programs, one in HTML and one in JavaScript. The scheme also spreads the 80 marks across knowledge (15), comprehension (21), application (24) and skill (20), so recall alone will not carry a student.
The practical is where many marks are easy to lose. The student picks one of two questions on different skill sets from a practical slip, then writes and runs a program. Of its 15 marks, five are for the handwritten code, five for correct typing and syntax, three for execution and two for the printout; a complete, certified journal adds five more. During the year the college sets two internal assessments of 25 marks, a 50-mark theory terminal exam and a 100-mark preliminary exam on the same pattern.
For a tutor, three lessons follow. Multiple-choice questions with two or three correct answers punish half-knowledge, so practise them separately. Students should write HTML and JavaScript by hand regularly, because a third of the program marks are for handwritten code. And the journal must be complete and certified before the practical, not finished the week before.
The board's evaluation pattern for Standards XI and XII sets the three sciences out in the same four sections. Section A has ten one-mark multiple-choice questions and eight one-mark very short answers; Sections B and C each offer twelve questions, of which the student answers eight, at two and three marks; Section D asks for three of five four-mark long answers. A log table is permitted but a calculator is not, and each multiple-choice answer must be written together with its letter. Because the layout is shared, a student who learns to divide time across the sections in one science can carry the habit to the other two. Our city physics, chemistry and biology pages cover each subject.

An HSC science student here often has more than one entrance in view: MHT-CET, conducted by the State CET Cell, for engineering and pharmacy courses in the state, and JEE (Main) or NEET (UG), conducted by the NTA. The chapters overlap with the HSC syllabus, but the board wants full written answers and a practical journal while the entrance papers want fast, accurate objective work. Take the MHT-CET pattern and syllabus only from the CET Cell's notices. Our JEE and NEET pages for the city explain how a tutor keeps the board paper safe alongside them. Families on a different board can turn to the CBSE or ICSE and ISC pages; for picking a route at all, read how to choose a board and stream.
A State Board student often keeps the same tutor for two years, through Standards IX and X or through junior college, so the journey must be one the tutor can repeat all year. The notes below draw on our research for each area.
| Locality | Homes | What helps the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Vedant Nagar | Builder floor apartments and small buildings on wide internal roads | The railway station is close, which helps a tutor who comes in by train |
| Deolai | Mostly independent houses and residential plots | Deolai Chowk as the landmark; room to park a two-wheeler outside |
| Satara Parisar | New apartment buildings, builder floors and plotted layouts | The layout name and the turning from the Beed Bypass; gated layouts may note visitors |
| Beed Bypass | Apartments, floors, villas and plotted layouts along the road | Which side of the bypass, the turning and a map pin; avoid the evening through traffic |
| Bajaj Nagar | Mostly independent houses beside the Waluj industrial area | A tutor who lives locally; slots set around the family's shift timings |
| CIDCO Waluj Mahanagar | Apartments, gated plotted layouts and row houses in a ring township | The nagar or sector, the layout name and a ring-road landmark |
The zone guides go further: Garkheda and Jyoti Nagar, Beed Bypass and Paithan Road, West and Waluj, Old City and Central and CIDCO and Jalna Road. Every area is listed on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tutors page, and our home tuition guide for the city covers them zone by zone.
For SSC students, a tutor at home usually suits mathematics and science, where the tutor reads the working and checks diagrams on paper. In junior college the picture changes. A specialist for HSC Information Technology, commerce subjects or a particular science may live across the city, and an online session removes the ride along the bypass or the highway. One home session and one online session a week is a sensible mix. Our online tutors for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar page and the home or online tutor comparison explain when each suits.

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Divisional Board sits on Railway Station Road in Usmanpura, one of the State Board's nine divisional boards. It serves Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Parbhani, Jalna and Hingoli districts, and is headed by a Divisional Chairman. Papers are common across Maharashtra, and schools and junior colleges handle most dealings, from exam forms to marks entry.
An Aurangabad HSC student should share the subject code with a tutor because several subjects exist in more than one version. Information Technology has Science (97), Arts (98) and Commerce (99) papers with separate evaluation schemes, and Mathematics and Statistics has science and commerce versions. The code on the timetable or admit card ensures the right paper.
For Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar students, HSC Information Technology (Science, 97) is out of 100: an 80-mark online theory paper of two and a half hours and a 20-mark practical. Of the theory, 60 marks are objective and 20 subjective. In the practical, handwritten code, syntax, execution and printout earn 15, and a certified journal adds 5.
For Aurangabad students, the State Board sets HSC physics, chemistry and biology in the same four-section layout. Section A has ten one-mark multiple-choice items and eight very short answers; Sections B and C ask for eight of twelve at two and three marks; Section D asks for three of five long answers. A log table is allowed, a calculator is not.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Standard XI is often where a State Board tutor helps most, because the syllabus deepens and the stream, subjects and institution may all change. For students who studied in Marathi, the textbooks may now be in English. A tutor who catches gaps in the first term saves a difficult Standard XII.
Yes, a State Board tutor in Aurangabad can support MHT-CET, JEE or NEET if the plan keeps the HSC paper safe. MHT-CET is conducted by the State CET Cell, so take its pattern only from the CET Cell's notices; JEE Main and NEET are run by NTA. Written board answers and the practical journal stay on schedule alongside objective practice.
Yes, we match on medium, so tell us your child's when you ask for a State Board tutor in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Answers use the technical terms of the student's own textbook, so even a tutor explaining in another language should keep written practice in the medium of the paper. This matters most when a student switches medium in Standard XI.
For SSC students in Aurangabad, a home tutor usually suits mathematics and science, where working and diagrams are checked on paper. In junior college, a specialist for HSC Information Technology, commerce or a particular science may live across the city, so online removes the ride along the bypass or highway. One home and one online session a week is a sensible mix.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors price their own sessions, and each fee is shown before the free demo. The pricing guide and the city's home tuition fees post explain the factors.
The right route for an Aurangabad child depends on the stream, the medium and any entrance test, since the State Board, CBSE and ICSE differ in books and question styles. HSC science overlaps with MHT-CET, JEE and NEET chapters, but each board marks answers its own way. See our CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE guide and how-to-choose page.
