Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Bhubaneswar children write maths for the Odisha board's HSC, for the +2 council, for CBSE, for ICSE or ISC, and in a smaller number of homes for IB or Cambridge. Each examiner looks for something different on the page, and a teacher who is excellent for one can be wasted on another. Then there is the map: the numbered units of the old planned capital, the colonies that grew north towards Patia, and the Nayapalli side in the west each run on their own traffic clock. Send us the course and the locality. NXTutors replies with two or three maths tutors who suit both, every fee is listed before you meet them, and the opening class costs nothing.
Two named authors stand behind the exam material here: Ajay Vatsyayan for the IB, IGCSE and ISC parts, and Abhinandan Tiwary for Class 10 under CBSE and ICSE. Whichever course your child follows, the book on the desk, the shape of a full-mark solution and the right kind of homework all follow from it, so we settle it before any tutor is suggested.
| Course | Body | Rules published at | A well-matched tutor brings |
|---|---|---|---|
| HSC (Class 10) | Board of Secondary Education, Odisha | bseodisha.ac.in | The prescribed book, the board's sample papers, explanations in Odia or English |
| +2 Science (Classes 11–12) | Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha | chseodisha.nic.in | Recent teaching of the council's maths course and its current syllabus |
| CBSE Class 10 (Standard or Basic) and Class 12 | CBSE | cbseacademic.nic.in and cbse.gov.in | NCERT fluency and a plan built on the board's unit weights |
| ICSE (Class 10), ISC (Class 12) | CISCE | cisce.org | The syllabus for your child's exam year and the project rules |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | ibo.org; cambridgeinternational.org | Recent work with the exact course (AA or AI) or tier (Core or Extended) |
Odisha divides school examinations between two bodies. The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha holds the annual HSC examination at the close of Class 10, and its website lists the scheme of studies, the prescribed textbooks and sample papers. Beyond Class 10, the +2 course in Arts, Commerce and Science belongs to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha, an autonomous body under the state's School and Mass Education Department whose office is in Bhubaneswar itself; the council writes the syllabus, holds the examination and declares the results.
Neither body's paper is described on this page, because both update their schemes; bseodisha.ac.in and chseodisha.nic.in hold the current versions. A parent can still test the fit of a tutor on four points:
For 2026-27 CBSE keeps the previous session's paper design: fourteen NCERT chapters, seven units, 80 marks in the board exam and 20 more awarded by the school. A tutor working with Abhinandan Tiwary's notes would spend the hours roughly in proportion to the weights below.
| Unit | Marks | Warning sign at home |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra: polynomials, linear pairs, quadratics, APs | 20 | Your child can solve a given equation but freezes when a story has to become one |
| Geometry: triangles and circles | 15 | Proofs that list facts with no "because" |
| Trigonometry, heights and distances | 12 | Ratios chosen before any sketch exists |
| Statistics and probability | 11 | Right method, wrong total in the frequency table |
| Mensuration | 10 | Units vanish halfway through a combined-solid sum |
| Real numbers; coordinate geometry | 6 + 6 | Quick questions answered carelessly |
| Section | Questions | Marks each | Kind |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 20 | 1 | 18 multiple-choice and 2 assertion–reason |
| B | 5 | 2 | Very short answers |
| C | 6 | 3 | Short answers |
| D | 4 | 5 | Long answers |
| E | 3 | 4 | Case studies |
No calculator enters the hall, and π means 22/7 unless the question states a value. Standard and Basic draw on identical chapters, yet roughly 54% of a Standard paper rewards recall and understanding while Basic puts roughly 75% there; a child who might study maths in Class 11 should therefore sit Standard. The school sets a date for that choice, so ask early.
Since 2026 CBSE has run two Class 10 sittings: a main exam that everyone takes, and a later optional one where a student can try to raise the score in as many as three subjects, maths among them. Nothing is yet published for 2027, so keep an eye on cbse.gov.in and treat the main exam as the one that counts. Our chapter-wise Class 10 maths preparation and the board-year planner go deeper, and the Class 10 maths tutor page shows how we match for this year.
Yes, if the tutor treats them as two jobs. The board rewards complete, examiner-friendly solutions; an entrance test rewards speed and accuracy under negative marking. The table sets out the difference.
| Target | What we know about it | Home tutor's job |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE Class 12 | 38 questions, none optional, for 80 marks; calculus is worth 35 of them | Finish calculus early and keep one written long answer in every lesson |
| CHSE +2 Science | Syllabus and papers set by the council and revised by it | Plan from the current syllabus on chseodisha.nic.in, chapter by chapter |
| JEE Main (2026 Paper 1) | 75 questions for 300 marks; 25 in maths, of which 20 had options and 5 wanted a number; +4 for a correct response, −1 for a wrong one | Timed sets, then a review of every lost mark; confirm the next pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in |
A workable rhythm is one session for entrance problems left unfinished during the week and one for the board, closing with a long answer that the tutor marks before leaving. More on each: the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, our JEE maths plan by topic, and the tutor pages for Class 11 and Class 12 maths.
Ajay Vatsyayan's sections cover the three courses after ICSE; the ICSE notes sit with the Class 10 material.
| Course | Key facts | For tuition this means |
|---|---|---|
| ICSE Class 10 | One written paper of 80; internal assessment adds 20 | Working judged line by line; see our ICSE Class 10 maths guide |
| ISC Class 12, 2027 and 2028 exams | One 80-mark paper over seven units; the B-or-C choice has gone, so vectors, 3-D geometry, linear programming and probability are for everyone; calculus 35; two projects worth 20 (each: format 1, content 4, findings 2, viva 3) | Older revision books need checking; the ICSE and ISC maths guide covers both years |
| IB Diploma maths | AA stresses algebra, functions, calculus and proof, with one non-calculator paper; AI stresses modelling and statistics with a GDC throughout; 150 teaching hours at SL, 240 at HL; SL papers 40% + 40%, HL papers 30% + 30% + 20%; the exploration is the remaining 20% and must be the student's own | The tutor may question the exploration, never write it; read our guide to IB maths AA or AI |
| Cambridge IGCSE | Core tops out at grade C; Extended spans A* to G | Agree the tier with the school well before entries; families weighing a change can read about leaving CBSE for IB or IGCSE |
Fewer teachers handle these courses than CBSE or the Odisha boards, so mention the course in your first message. Where nobody suitable can travel to you, an online specialist covers the gap.
Bhubaneswar has no metro running, so tutors come by two-wheeler, car or auto, and a few by local train with an auto for the last stretch. Where the tutor lives decides whether a weekly slot survives the term. Compare tutors by locality on our Bhubaneswar page.
| Locality | Homes | Getting in | Arrange early |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patia | A former village in the north, now apartment complexes, independent houses and plots, near large education and IT campuses | Complexes register visitors at the gate; houses on plotted lanes allow doorstep arrival | A weekday slot that avoids the hours when offices and colleges along Nandankanan Road open and close |
| Chandrasekharpur | Low-rise flats, builder floors and houses across colonies such as Damana, Niladri Vihar and Rail Vihar | Clear colony names make addresses easy; some buildings keep a register | Send the colony, lane and house or block number before the demo |
| Saheed Nagar | Planned around 1960 as the tenth unit; houses and flats in the lanes behind the Janpath shops | Two-wheeler or auto; Janpath parking is tight | A lane landmark rather than a shop name, and a slot before the evening market crowd |
| Kharavela Nagar | Unit 3 of the planned capital: flats beside markets, offices and hotels | Bhubaneswar railway station is close; tutors from neighbouring units ride over | The building name and flat number given to the guard in advance |
| Nayapalli | Apartments, independent houses and builder floors around Ekamra Kanan | Many colonies close by, so a tutor from the same side is often available | Some margin on holidays and evenings, when traffic near the park and the highway builds |
| Jaydev Vihar | Houses and low- to mid-rise flats mixed with offices around the square | Nandankanan Road links it with Chandrasekharpur and Patia, so tutors come from north or centre | A weekday hour clear of the evening rush at the square |
The zone pages for Patia and Chandrasekharpur and Nayapalli and Jaydev Vihar add more on each side of the city.
A prepared showpiece tells you little. Hand the tutor whatever chapter is open in your child's school notebook this week and watch the hour unfold:
Not convinced? Tell us, and the next tutor on the shortlist gives a demo instead; a later switch is also free. The parents' checklist for demo classes has more points to watch.
Across a table, a tutor catches an error while the pencil is still moving, which counts most for younger pupils and for proofs. A screen wins when the ISC, IB or JEE specialist you need lives across the city, or when the evening is already full. One visit plus one online session a week suits many Bhubaneswar families. Read more in home tutor or online tutor.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor names a rate of their own. Course and class, depth of experience with that course, the evening journey to your colony and how many lessons you book each week all shape it, and you see the figure for each shortlisted tutor ahead of the demo. Our Bhubaneswar home tuition fees article explains more.
Five facts do the job: the class; the course named in full (HSC, CHSE +2 Science, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality plus a landmark; the days and hours you can offer; and what you hope to spend. Back come two or three maths tutors with their fees, and you pick one for the free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check before a profile is marked Verified. When no suitable tutor can get to your side of Bhubaneswar at your hour, we propose online or part-online lessons. Our team works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online all over India; see the national maths home tutor page, and the Bhubaneswar home tuition guide for every zone.

For a maths tutor in Bhubaneswar, send five facts: class, course in full, locality with a landmark, hours and budget. Name the course exactly, such as HSC, CHSE +2 Science, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE. We return two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Bhubaneswar maths tutor names a personal rate, shaped by course, class, experience with that course, the evening trip to your colony and lessons per week. Every shortlisted fee appears ahead of the demo.
Yes, we shortlist maths tutors in Bhubaneswar who teach BSE Odisha HSC students from the prescribed textbook and explain in Odia or English. They practise with the board's own sample papers, and a guide built for another board comes last. The board revises its scheme, so read the current rules on bseodisha.ac.in.
A Bhubaneswar tutor should plan CHSE +2 Science maths from the current syllabus on chseodisha.nic.in, chapter by chapter. JEE problems belong in a separate session so the board course is never squeezed. Close the board session with a long answer the tutor marks before leaving, because the board rewards complete, step-by-step solutions.
Algebra deserves the most hours for a Bhubaneswar CBSE Class 10 student, carrying 20 of the 80 board marks in 2026-27. Geometry follows at 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11, mensuration 10, and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 each. No calculator is allowed, and π is 22/7 unless stated.
A Bhubaneswar child should take CBSE Standard maths in Class 10 if there is any chance of maths in Class 11. The chapters match, but roughly 75% of Basic marks reward recall and understanding against about 54% in Standard. The school sets a date for the choice, so ask early.
Yes; for ISC Class 12 maths in 2027 and 2028, Bhubaneswar students sit one 80-mark paper over seven units, and the old Section B-or-C choice has gone. Vectors, 3-D geometry, linear programming and probability are for everyone, and calculus carries 35. Two projects add 20 marks, each scored on format, content, findings and viva.
Yes, though fewer Bhubaneswar maths tutors handle IB and IGCSE than CBSE or the Odisha boards, so name the course in your first message. IB AA stresses algebra and proof, AI modelling and statistics with a GDC; IGCSE Core tops out at grade C while Extended spans A* to G. An online specialist can cover gaps.
Maths tutors visit Patia and Kharavela Nagar flats in Bhubaneswar once the gate knows them. Patia complexes register visitors, so pass the tutor's name to the guard before the demo, and avoid Nandankanan Road office and college hours. In Kharavela Nagar, give the guard the building name and flat number in advance.
A Bhubaneswar family usually chooses online maths when the ISC, IB or JEE specialist they need lives across the city, or the evening is already full. A tutor at the table catches an error while the pencil moves, which matters most for younger pupils and proofs. One visit plus one online session a week suits many families.
In a Bhubaneswar maths demo, hand over the chapter open in this week's school notebook rather than accept a prepared lesson. A strong tutor gets your child attempting first, labels each mistake as a slip, a misread or a gap, sets steps the way the HSC, CHSE, CBSE or CISCE marker wants, and outlines next month.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
