What home tuition costs in Gandhinagar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutors by locality in Gandhinagar

Maths home tutor in Gandhinagar: the right paper, the right sector, and a weekly hour that holds

Gandhinagar is a planned capital, so finding a home is easy: sector, block letter, plot number. Finding the right maths teacher for that home is the harder part. Within one sector you can meet a Gujarati-medium SSC student, a CBSE child choosing between Standard and Basic, an ISC candidate and an IB learner, and each of them is marked by a different examiner with different habits. Tell NXTutors the syllabus, the class and your sector or locality, and we put forward two or three maths tutors who fit all three. Each fee is shown before you meet anyone, and the first class is a free demo.

Who will mark your child's maths paper?

The exam guidance on this page comes from two authors with clear remits. Ajay Vatsyayan covers IB, IGCSE and ISC mathematics; Abhinandan Tiwary covers Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE. Our first question to any family is the name of the body that sets the final paper, because the answer decides which textbook the tutor opens, how working is laid out and what kind of practice turns into marks.

What should a GSEB family ask of a maths tutor?

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is based in Gandhinagar itself. It conducts the SSC examination at the end of Standard 10 and the HSC examinations at the end of Standard 12, where students sit either the Science or the General stream. We do not reproduce a GSEB maths pattern on this page, because the board publishes and revises its own question-paper designs. What a family can use, and what a good tutor should already know about, is what the board itself puts online:

  • Past question papers for Standards 10 and 12 on the board's e-service site, gsebeservice.com, the most honest practice material there is.
  • Model papers and the pariroop, the board's term for its question-paper design, listed for teachers on the same site. Ask the tutor to show you the current one at the demo.
  • A subject-wise question bank for Standards 9 to 12, linked from gseb.org.

Beyond the papers, settle the medium. A child who writes maths in Gujarati needs explanations and terms in Gujarati; a child in an English-medium GSEB school needs the textbook's English terms. And if Standard 11 Science or an engineering entrance is in view, the tutor's real job in Standards 9 and 10 is secure algebra and geometry, not a pass. Families aiming at GUJCET, Gujarat's own entrance test, should take its rules only from the board's official notices. Our Gujarat Board tutor page for Gandhinagar goes further into SSC and HSC.

What changes in a maths tutor's job from Class 6 to Class 12?

The maths tutor's main task at each stage, and a sign parents can check at home
StageMain taskSign it is working
Classes 6 to 8Fractions, negative numbers and early algebra made automaticHomework finished without asking for the method every evening
Class 9Proof, polynomials and coordinate work introduced carefullyEach line of a geometry answer carries a reason
Class 10 (SSC, CBSE or ICSE)Board-format answers and full timed papersA complete paper written at home before the pre-boards
Class 11Functions, trigonometry and limits set up for calculusGraphs sketched without a calculator
Class 12 (HSC Science, CBSE or ISC)Calculus first, then the board paper and any entrance test side by sideA weekly log of errors that shrinks month by month

Our Class 10 maths tutor and Class 12 maths tutor pages describe how we match in those two board years.

How is the CBSE Class 10 maths paper built this session?

In 2026-27 CBSE keeps last session's design. The 80 board marks come from 14 NCERT chapters in seven units, and a tutor who plans by weight spends the year like this: algebra first at 20 marks (polynomials, linear equations in two variables, quadratics and arithmetic progressions); geometry next at 15 (triangles and circles); then trigonometry, heights and distances included, at 12; statistics and probability at 11; mensuration at 10; and real numbers and coordinate geometry at 6 each. The commonest leak of marks differs by unit. In algebra it is a word problem turned into the wrong equation; in geometry, a proof whose statements have no reasons; in mensuration, units lost when two solids are joined.

Five sections make up the paper. Section A holds 20 one-mark items, 18 multiple-choice and 2 assertion–reason. Section B asks five two-mark questions, C six three-mark questions, D four five-mark questions, and E three case studies of four marks each. Calculators are not allowed, and π is taken as 22/7 unless the question says otherwise. Standard and Basic examine the same chapters but at different depth: about 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, compared with about 75% in Basic. If Class 11 maths is a real possibility, choose Standard, and do it before the school's registration deadline.

From 2026 every Class 10 student sits one compulsory main exam, with an optional second sitting to improve up to three subjects, maths included. The 2027 dates have not been announced; check cbse.gov.in. For chapter-level help, read the Class 10 maths preparation guide and the board-year planner.

Class 12 maths with JEE in the plan: what does a home tutor add?

A Class 12 student preparing for an entrance test already has plenty of new chapters each week. The home tutor earns their place by doing what a crowded class cannot: working through the problems the student got stuck on, and protecting the board paper. On CBSE that paper has 38 compulsory questions for 80 marks, and calculus alone carries 35, so calculus deserves the largest share of every week from the first month.

JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 had 75 questions worth 300 marks. Twenty-five of them were maths: 20 multiple-choice and 5 with a numerical answer, each worth +4 when correct and −1 when wrong. NTA publishes the pattern afresh, so confirm it on jeemain.nta.nic.in each year. A sound week alternates: one session on entrance problems under a clock, one on a board-style long answer written out line by line. The Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and the JEE maths topic-wise guide go deeper.

Read the ICSE and ISC maths guide, the ICSE Class 10 maths guide and the IB maths AA or AI guide. Specialists for these courses are fewer than CBSE or GSEB teachers, so name the course in your first message; when nobody suitable lives close, an online specialist can take the course-specific part.

What should you arrange before the first class in six Gandhinagar localities?

The Yellow Line now runs through the capital, with stations such as Sector-1, Infocity, Randesan, Sachivalaya, Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir, and links it with Ahmedabad. Most tutors still ride a two-wheeler or drive, and the grid makes routes predictable. Browse all localities on our Gandhinagar page.

Central sectors

Sector 21 mixes independent houses on planned plots with one of the city's busiest shopping areas, and Akshardham station, opened in January 2026, was planned to serve its market. Because the shops fill up in the evening, agree a fixed weekday time and give the tutor an approach by the quieter internal road. Next door, Sectors 16, 22 and 23 have the Sector-16 station; Sector 16 holds many state government offices, while 22 and 23 are mostly flats and houses. Office hours load the roads at the start and end of the day, so a late-afternoon or weekend maths slot usually runs on time.

Government quarters and the old town

Sector 30 is the sector of state government quarters, laid out in numbered blocks, with private houses and apartment buildings alongside. Share the block and quarter number, and expect a colony gate to ask for the family's name. Pethapur is older than the capital: it was a small princely state, then a separate municipality until it joined Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation in June 2020. Old lanes sit beside newer bungalow colonies, there is no metro station, and a clear landmark helps on the first visit.

Around Infocity

Sectors 2 and 3 are established residential sectors of independent and duplex houses, with Sector-1 and Infocity stations close by; doorstep arrival and parking are simple. Infocity is the city's IT office district, and many families around it in Sectors 2 and 3, Sargasan, Kudasan and Randesan work there. Office traffic peaks at the start and end of the working day, so a maths class in the late afternoon or at the weekend tends to start on time.

How do you brief a tutor in a city built on a grid?

Gandhinagar was laid out as thirty sectors around the central government complex. Letter roads (K, KH, G, GH, CH, CHH and J) cross number roads (1 to 7), and junctions take their names from the pair, such as CH-1 or JA-1. Each sector was planned with its own shopping centre, community facilities and housing, and is split into lettered blocks. A good first message to a new tutor therefore has four parts: the sector, the block letter, the plot or house number, and the nearest named junction. In the former villages that joined the city in 2020, such as Kudasan or Sargasan, most homes are in gated apartment societies, so add the tower, the flat number and a phone number the guard can call.

What should you look for in the free maths demo?

Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child's school is on this week, not a topic of the tutor's choosing. Sit in for the end of the class and check five things:

  1. A diagnosis. Did the tutor test what your child already knew before explaining anything?
  2. Errors named. Were mistakes called arithmetic, misreading or concept, with a different fix for each?
  3. The right layout. Did written answers follow the style your child's board rewards?
  4. Language. Could your child follow in the medium of the exam, Gujarati or English?
  5. A plan. Do you know what the next three sessions cover and what homework is due?

If the fit is wrong, tell us and we set up a demo with another tutor from your shortlist; changing tutor later is free as well. The demo class checklist for parents adds more questions.

What does a maths home tutor in Gandhinagar charge, and is online an option?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets their own fee. The things that move it are the course and class, how long the tutor has taught that course, the trip to your sector at your chosen hour and how many sessions you want each week. You see each fee on the shortlist before the demo.

Sitting at the same table lets a tutor stop an error as it is written, which matters for younger children and for proofs. Online lessons suit an IB or ISC specialist who lives across the city or in Ahmedabad, and a mix of one home and one online session a week is common. The home tutor or online tutor article sets out the trade-offs.

What should your first message include?

Five things: the class; the course by its full name (GSEB SSC or HSC with the medium, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your sector and block or your locality with a landmark; the days and times you can offer; and a budget. We reply with two or three matched maths tutors, each fee listed, and you choose one for a free demo. If nobody suitable can reach your part of Gandhinagar at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national maths home tutor page explains how we work elsewhere, and families in neighbouring Ahmedabad can see the Ahmedabad maths page.

Maths Home Tutor in Gandhinagar: common questions

How much does a maths home tutor in Gandhinagar cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, and you compare every shortlisted fee before choosing whom to meet.

Can you find a maths tutor for a GSEB student in Gujarati medium?

Yes. Tell us the standard and the medium, and we look for tutors who teach from the board's textbook in that language and practise from the past papers and question-paper designs the board posts on gsebeservice.com. Because the board revises its designs, check the current version there before planning revision.

Which parts of Gandhinagar do your maths tutors cover?

We match across the numbered sectors, the Infocity side, Kudasan and Sargasan, and Koba, Raysan and GIFT City, nearest tutors first. Where nobody suitable can reach your sector at the hour you want, we suggest online sessions or one home visit a week combined with one online class.

Which CBSE Class 10 maths unit deserves the most time?

Algebra, worth 20 of the 80 board marks in 2026-27. Geometry carries 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11, mensuration 10, and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 each. The paper design is unchanged from last session, so recent CBSE sample papers suit timed practice well.

Should my child choose Standard or Basic maths in Class 10?

Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is at all likely. Both levels cover the same chapters for 80 marks, but Basic gives about three-quarters of its marks to remembering and understanding, while Standard asks for more application. The choice is made at registration, so check your school's deadline early.

My child is preparing for JEE. Is a home maths tutor still worth it?

Often, if the tutor takes a different role from the entrance class. The useful work is clearing problems your child could not finish and keeping the Class 12 board paper on track, where calculus is worth 35 of 80 marks and every long answer needs full written working.

What has changed in ISC Class 12 maths?

For the 2027 and 2028 exams, CISCE sets one 80-mark paper of seven compulsory units, so the old choice between Sections B and C is gone. Calculus carries 35 marks, and two projects add 20 more, each marked on format, content, findings and viva. Older revision books need care.

What address details should I give a maths tutor in Gandhinagar?

Give the sector, the block letter and the plot or house number, plus the nearest named junction, such as CH-1. In government quarters add the block and quarter number; in an apartment society share the tower, flat number and a phone number the guard can call.
