Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Gandhinagar, CBSE students and Gujarat board students sit the same entrance tests and look for tutors in the same subjects, and the two systems overlap more than many parents expect. Both teach Standard or Class 12 science from NCERT books; both lead to JEE and NEET; and from 2026-27 both run three languages in the middle years. Where they part company is in the papers: how marks are split between the board exam and the school, how many attempts a Class 10 student has, and how questions are written. A CBSE tutor in Gandhinagar is useful when they know the current CBSE documents closely and can also explain what a move to or from the state board would mean. This page covers the 2026-27 CBSE structure, a class-by-class plan, how tutors reach six localities and what to check at the demo.
In the major subjects, CBSE splits marks 80 for the board paper and 20 for school assessment, and about half the questions are competency-focused: they test whether a student can apply an idea, not just recall it.
Treat the first Class 10 exam as the real one. Our guides on Class 10 maths preparation and Class 10 science help, as does the Class 10 maths tutor page.
| Subject (code) | Theory and other assessment | What the split means |
|---|---|---|
| Physics (042), Chemistry (043), Biology (044) | 70 theory, 30 practical | Nearly a third of the mark rests on practical work and viva; keep the file current |
| Mathematics (041) or Applied Mathematics (241) | 80 theory, 20 internal; one or the other, not both | Decide by the entrance plan, and read the entrance rules before choosing Applied Mathematics |
| Accountancy (055), Economics (030), Business Studies (054) | 80 theory, 20 internal | Long answers and case-based questions need timed writing practice |
Each year's paper design arrives with CBSE's sample paper, so a tutor should be working from the current one. Our Class 12 guides for physics, chemistry and maths, and the Class 12 maths tutor page, go further.
| Point | CBSE | GSEB (from the board's own documents) |
|---|---|---|
| Class 12 science books | NCERT | NCERT for physics, chemistry, biology and maths since June 2019 |
| Languages in the middle years | Third language compulsory, assessed in school | Three-language formula in Standard 10 from 2026-27, with a vocational subject as an eighth subject where offered |
| Class 10 maths | Basic and Standard being phased out after the 2026-27 batch | Mathematics Basic and Standard still listed in the 2026-27 circular |
| Class 10 board attempts | Two exams; the second for improvement in up to three subjects | One main examination, with a supplementary (purak) examination after results |
| State engineering and pharmacy test | Check the GUJCET booklet each year for how it applies | GUJCET, held by the board for HSC Science Groups A, B and AB |
Because Class 12 science rests on the same books, a good CBSE physics or chemistry tutor can often help a GSEB student with content, and the other way round. What does not transfer automatically is paper technique, so ask any tutor which board's papers they have actually prepared students for. Our Gujarat Board tutors in Gandhinagar page explains the state board in detail.
With about half of the Class 9 and 10 board questions now competency-focused, rote answers cover less of the paper than they used to. These questions usually give a short situation, a table, a graph or a passage and ask the student to apply a concept to it, often in a way the textbook example did not. A tutor can prepare a student for this without waiting for new guidebooks.
Students moving from the state board may find this style new, so it is worth starting this practice early in the year rather than in the weeks before the exam.
Some families consider moving from CBSE to the state board for Standards 11 and 12, or the reverse. The content gap in science is small at that point; the bigger changes are the paper style, the language of the papers, and, on the state side, the group system (A, B or AB) that decides which GUJCET papers a student sits. A tutor can make the first term after a switch much smoother by working through the new board's model papers in the opening weeks, before the first school test. Our guide to choosing a board and stream lays out the trade-offs.
| Class | Focus | Usual rhythm |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | Arithmetic fluency, reading comprehension, the habit of writing full answers | Once or twice a week |
| 9 | Algebra and geometry foundations; whether to attempt an Advanced paper | Twice a week |
| 10 | Competency-style questions, the first board exam as the target, internal assessment on time | Two or three a week |
| 11 | The step up in physics and maths; choosing Mathematics or Applied Mathematics with care | One session per hard subject |
| 12 | Board papers, practical files and any entrance plan in one timetable | Two per core subject in the final months |

A CBSE Class 12 student aiming at engineering or medicine needs the board paper and the entrance test to reinforce each other, not compete. The trick is to teach a chapter once, then practise it twice: written, board-style answers one week, objective entrance-style questions the next. The 30 practical marks in each science should not be sacrificed to mock tests in January. See our JEE and NEET pages for Gandhinagar, and for GUJCET read the board's information booklet on gseb.org before deciding how much time it needs.
| Locality | Route | Arrival tip |
|---|---|---|
| Sargasan | Infocity station on the Yellow Line, then a short ride | Give the guard the tutor's name and flat number in advance |
| Koba | Three stations nearby: Koba Circle, Juna Koba and Koba Gaam | Independent homes allow doorstep arrival; societies ask for the visitor's name |
| Adalaj | Tapovan Circle station and an auto, or by road via the highway interchange | Bungalows are simplest; gated projects need the name at the gate |
| Kudasan | Sector-1 station, then auto or two-wheeler | Choose a slot outside office-hour traffic on the highway approaches |
| GIFT City | GIFT City station on the Violet Line branch | Towers have controlled entry; register the tutor with security first |
| Raysan | Raysan station on the Yellow Line | After the evening rush or at weekends |
Zone pages: Kudasan and Sargasan, Koba, Raysan and GIFT City, Sectors 1–8 and Infocity and Sectors 16–30 and Pethapur; the Gandhinagar home tutors page lists every locality.
For Classes 6 to 10, a tutor at the table tends to work better: younger students drift on a screen, and written working is easier to correct in person. From Class 11, a mix often suits: physics and maths at home, chemistry recall and test reviews online. Where no nearby tutor teaches a particular subject, such as Applied Mathematics or a commerce subject, an online specialist fills the gap. Our online tutors for Gandhinagar page explains the set-up.
We send two or three matched tutors and show each fee before the demo; the first class is free, and switching later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check. The demo class checklist has more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. See the pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Gandhinagar.
Tell us the class, subjects, any entrance plan, your locality and the slots that suit you; the first class is a free demo. You can also browse tutor profiles. For ICSE or ISC, see our ICSE tutors in Gandhinagar page; teachers can find requests on Gandhinagar tuition jobs.
Tell us the class, the subjects, any entrance plan, your locality and the slots you can offer. We suggest two or three tutors who teach from NCERT and can make the weekly trip, show each tutor's fee before the demo, and the first class is free. Switching tutor later is free too.
Yes, under CBSE's February 2026 notification. Every student sits the first exam; a student who passes may take the second to improve up to three of science, maths, social science and the languages. Prepare for the first as the real exam and treat the second as a safety net.
Only where they are already secure in the subject. The Advanced paper in maths or science is 25 marks over one hour, made of higher-order questions, and sits outside the aggregate; a score of 50% or more is recorded. A tutor can judge readiness from a few weeks of work.
In Class 12 the content is close: both use NCERT books for physics, chemistry and biology, which the state board adopted in June 2019. The papers differ, though, in how marks are split, how questions are written and, on the state side, an OMR section in some subjects. Ask a tutor which papers they know.
It is possible, and the science content gap at that point is small. The bigger changes are the paper style, the medium and the state board's group system, which decides the GUJCET papers. Working through the new board's model papers in the first weeks after a switch makes the move much smoother.
A great deal. Physics, chemistry and biology each give 30 of 100 marks to practical work, so the practical file, the experiments and the viva deserve steady attention all year. A tutor can guide and check the work, but the record itself must be written by the student.
Tutors can travel by metro to both: the Violet Line branch stops at GIFT City, and Koba has three Yellow Line stations nearby. GIFT City towers have controlled entry, so register the tutor with security first. Where no nearby tutor fits, online sessions cover the gap.
