Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For a Kolhapur student heading for medicine, the HSC biology paper and NEET (UG) are not two separate projects. They draw on the same body of biology, asked in two very different ways: the board wants explained, labelled, written answers, and NEET wants fast, accurate choices across a long paper. A home tutor helps most by joining the two into one weekly plan, with biology revisited often, physics worked at the table, and chemistry split by the kind of thinking it needs. This page sets out what each paper looks like, how the State Board spreads its biology marks, how tutors reach different parts of Kolhapur, and what to check in the free demo. For the full exam and syllabus, see the national NEET home tutor page.
The National Testing Agency's 2026 bulletin set NEET (UG) as a single written paper of 180 multiple-choice questions, all of them compulsory. Biology, botany and zoology together, had 90 of them; physics and chemistry had 45 each. The paper was worth 720 marks, with four marks for a right answer and one taken away for a wrong one. The National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus; for biology it lists ten units, half drawn from Class 11 and half from Class 12, in line with NCERT. Half the paper is biology, so biology sets the shape of the week. Each year, confirm the details in the latest bulletin on neet.nta.nic.in.
The board's scheme for Standard XII biology sets a 70-mark paper in three hours. Section A has ten multiple-choice questions and eight very short answers, one mark each. Section B asks for any eight of twelve two-mark answers, Section C any eight of twelve three-mark answers, and Section D any three of five four-mark answers. A multiple-choice answer has to be written with its letter, and only the first attempt counts.
| Unit | Chapters | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Reproduction | Reproduction in lower and higher plants; in lower and higher animals | 12 |
| Genetics and evolution | Inheritance and variation; molecular basis of inheritance; origin and evolution of life | 12 |
| Physiology | Plant water relation; plant growth and mineral nutrition; respiration and circulation; control and co-ordination | 25 |
| Applied biology | Human health and diseases; enhancement of food production; biotechnology | 12 |
| Ecology and environment | Organisms and populations; ecosystems and energy flow; biodiversity and conservation | 9 |
Physiology is the heaviest unit, and its two human chapters, respiration and circulation and control and co-ordination, carry 15 marks between them. The scheme also gives 42% of marks to understanding and 28% to application, so a student who only memorises lines will fall short even on the board paper. Our Maharashtra Board tutors in Kolhapur page reads other State Board schemes, and the biology home tutors in Kolhapur page covers the subject for school.
The HSC course is taught from the state's own textbooks in its own chapter order, while NEET follows the NCERT books. The topics overlap heavily, but the wording, the order and some of the detail differ. In the first weeks of Class 11, ask the tutor to draw a simple map: each HSC chapter, the matching NCERT chapter, and when each is due in junior college. The tutor then works in both directions, adding NCERT lines and quick multiple-choice checks where the state book is brief, and adding written, labelled answers where NEET practice has crowded them out.
A diagram is the easiest bridge. The same labelled heart or flower serves a four-mark board answer and a one-line NEET question, so drawing it from memory every week pays twice.
| Subject | Approach | In a session |
|---|---|---|
| Biology | Recall, revisited often | The student explains a process aloud, draws a diagram from memory, then answers mixed questions on last week's chapter |
| Physics | Problems worked at the table | The tutor watches the set-up and halts the student at the first faulty step rather than at the final answer |
| Chemistry | Split by type | Physical chemistry worked like physics; inorganic and much of organic checked like biology |
One tutor for "all of NEET" often spreads too thin. Many families keep a biology tutor for frequent recall work and a separate physics tutor for fewer, longer sessions. Our Kolhapur physics and chemistry pages list tutors for each.
The example below is for a Class 12 student. What matters is the pattern, not the exact days.
| When | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Most mornings | Reading the current biology chapter in both books | Self-study |
| Two short evenings | A recall check and one diagram drawn from memory | Online |
| One longer evening | Physics: unfinished problems, then a short timed set | At home |
| One evening | Chemistry: whichever half is weaker | Home or online |
| Weekend morning | A practice paper on paper, or a board-style written test in unit test weeks | At home |
| Locality | Nearest tutors | Detail worth sharing |
|---|---|---|
| Line Bazar | From Kasaba Bawada, Kadamwadi or Tarabai Park | Lane name, house number and a shop or chowk the tutor can find |
| Kadamwadi | From Kadamwadi itself or Tarabai Park | Colony or lane, and whether your child studies in Marathi or English |
| Sane Guruji Vasahat | From the western colonies; online for a specialist | Lane or row number and which side of the Radhanagari Road you live on |
| Kalamba | From Kalamba, Jarag Nagar or Pachgaon | Old village part or a newer layout; Kalamba Lake as the landmark |
| Rajendra Nagar | From the south and south-east | The road you turn from, the lane, and the floor for a flat |
| Jarag Nagar | From the southern side without crossing the centre | The turning off Jarag Nagar Main Road, then lane and house |
Zone pages: Tarabai Park and Kasaba Bawada, Rankala and Radhanagari Road and Kalamba and Jarag Nagar. Every locality is on the Kolhapur home tutors page, and the Kolhapur home tuition guide covers timing and addresses.
In 2026, candidates could choose an English booklet, a Hindi-English bilingual one, or English alongside a regional language, 13 options in all. A Kolhapur student who learned science in Marathi in the early classes and in English later should look at the current list and choose early, then practise every diagram label and every term in that language from Class 11. Biology has a heavy vocabulary, so the choice matters. A tutor can explain in Marathi and still insist that answers are written in the booklet's language.
Because the 2026 paper was on paper, full practice papers at home should be too: a separate answer sheet, a quiet room and no pauses. Once it is done, the tutor notes, subject by subject, the questions marked wrong, those left blank, and where time ran out. With a mark lost for each wrong answer, a clear rule for leaving doubtful questions, agreed with the tutor and followed, can be worth as much as another revision pass. Over a few papers the record shows whether the trouble is knowledge, accuracy or pace, and the plan for the following weeks should shift accordingly.
| Stage | Priority | Board note |
|---|---|---|
| Class 11 | The HSC-to-NCERT map; mechanics made secure; a glossary in the booklet language | Junior college unit tests set the first checkpoints |
| Class 12 | Biology revisited every week; timed physics; written answers before the board | Physiology carries the most board marks |
| A repeat year | Previous papers analysed for where marks slipped; those chapters relearnt | Free daytime hours open up more tutors |
Under the 2026 bulletin candidates had to be at least 17, with no maximum age; confirm in the latest bulletin before committing to a further year. Further reading: NEET biology, NCERT first and the NEET physics tutor page.

The HSC Biology paper is 70 marks in three hours, in four sections from one-mark multiple choice to four-mark long answers. Physiology is the heaviest unit at 25 marks, and reproduction, genetics and evolution, and applied biology carry 12 each. Ecology and environment carries 9.
Yes, they can be prepared together, because the topics overlap heavily even though the HSC uses state textbooks and NEET follows NCERT. Ask the tutor to map each HSC chapter to its NCERT match early in Class 11, then fill gaps in both directions every week.
Biology had 90 questions in the NEET (UG) 2026 paper, physics 45 and chemistry 45, all multiple-choice and all compulsory, written on paper for a total of 720 marks. Each correct response gained four marks; each incorrect one cost one. Confirm the current pattern on neet.nta.nic.in each year.
Often separate tutors work better, because biology needs short, frequent recall checks while physics needs fewer, longer sessions at the table. Chemistry splits between the two styles. Tell us which subject is weakest and we suggest two or three matched tutors for it.
The 2026 NEET bulletin offered English, a bilingual Hindi and English booklet, and English paired with one of several regional languages, 13 options in all. A Kolhapur student who learned science partly in Marathi should check the current list early and practise every term in the chosen language.
Yes, tutors living on the southern side, in Kalamba, Jarag Nagar or Pachgaon, can usually reach these areas without crossing the busy centre. For a specialist who lives elsewhere, online sessions fill the gap. Share the turning off Jarag Nagar Main Road or your Kalamba layout.
Practice papers at home should be done on paper, with a separate answer sheet and no breaks, because the 2026 exam was pen and paper. Afterwards the tutor records wrong answers, blanks and where time ran out, and adjusts the coming weeks to fix the main cause.
The 2026 NEET bulletin set a minimum age of 17 and no upper age limit. Families planning a repeat year in Kolhapur should check the current bulletin first. Daytime home sessions in a repeat year often widen the choice of tutor.
Check whether the biology tutor quizzes your child on a freshly read chapter and finds weak spots quickly. See whether the physics tutor asks what was tried first. The first class is a free demo, each fee is shown beforehand, and switching tutor later is free.
