What home tuition costs in Kolhapur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science home tutor in Kolhapur for Classes 6 to 10: the school's own book, clear words and steady practice

A Class 6 science book is mostly experiments and simple ideas. By Class 10 the same subject has split into physics, chemistry and biology, and every branch brings new vocabulary and a new marking style. In Kolhapur that change comes in three forms. On the State Board, Science and Technology is two papers answered on activity sheets. CBSE sets one long board paper. ICSE sets three. A child who reads the textbook in English but thinks in Marathi carries one more load. NXTutors suggests two or three science tutors who know your board and can reach your part of the city. You see every fee in advance, and the opening lesson with your chosen tutor is a free demo.

How does Class 10 science differ across the three boards in Kolhapur?

The CBSE and ICSE advice here is by Aaditya Kashyap. Before choosing a tutor, see which row your child is in; the shape of the exam decides what a weekly lesson should practise.

Class 10 science in Kolhapur by board: how the exam is built and what tuition should train
BoardHow it is examinedWhat tuition trains
Maharashtra State Board (SSC)Science and Technology in two 40-mark papers on activity sheets, plus 20 internalReading an activity fully, then answering in the board's own terms
CBSEOne 80-mark board paper with 20 internal marksEquations, labelled diagrams, case questions, and pace across 39 questions
ICSE (CISCE)Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate papersPrecise definitions and numericals worked to the last line

What is an activity-sheet science paper, and how should a State Board child prepare?

The Maharashtra State Board conducts the SSC at the end of Standard X, and its list of divisional boards includes a Kolhapur Divisional Board. For Standards IX and X, the board examines Science and Technology (subject code 72) through two papers of 40 marks each, written as activity sheets. School-based work supplies the other 20 marks: experiments, the journal and projects.

An activity may open with a situation, a figure or an observation, so the first habit is patience: read all of it, underline what it gives, then write. The second is balance, since each 40-mark paper stands alone and both halves of the syllabus must move every week. The third is the journal: a tutor can read each entry, ask the child to explain the result, and see that nothing is left blank.

Use the board's textbooks and its sample question papers, available through the student login on mahahsscboard.in, and check the latest scheme on that site. For the rest of the State Board subjects, open the Maharashtra Board home tutor in Kolhapur page.

What should science tuition achieve in each year from Class 6 to Class 10?

  • Class 6 and 7: every experiment in the book described in one short, exact sentence, with a neat sketch. Ask: is my child using the science word, or an everyday one?
  • Class 8: the three sciences start to separate, and the first sums with units appear. Ask: does each numerical answer end with its unit?
  • Class 9: the syllabus jumps in size, so gaps need closing fast. Ask: which chapter from last month still feels shaky?
  • Class 10: practice in the exact format of your board's paper, against the clock. Ask: when did my child last write a whole paper in the set time?

Until Class 10, one tutor for all three sciences is usually the sensible choice. The Class 9 science tutor page looks closely at the year that catches most families off guard.

How are the 80 marks spread in CBSE Class 10 science?

On the CBSE paper the board marks 80, and the school adds 20 in four equal slices of 5. The five units are far from equal, so tuition hours should follow the marks:

CBSE Class 10 science, 2026-27: marks for each unit and a home-practice idea for it
UnitMarksPractise at home
Chemical Substances: Nature and Behaviour25Ten equations balanced and named each week, aloud and on paper
World of Living25Diagrams drawn and labelled from memory; life processes told in sequence
Effects of Current13Ohm's law and power sums, a unit beside each value
Natural Phenomena12Mirror, lens and eye diagrams traced with a ruler
Our Environment5A few definitions, learned once and revised monthly

CBSE also sorts marks by thinking skill: 50% for remembering and understanding, 30% for applying, and 20% for analysing and evaluating. Our Class 10 science notes work through the chapters, and our Class 10 science tutor page sets out a full board-year plan.

Which kinds of question appear on the CBSE science paper?

The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions. Practise each kind in its own way:

  1. Twenty one-mark objective items, multiple-choice and assertion–reason. Short daily recall drills straight from the NCERT text.
  2. Six two-mark answers. One clean point for each mark, nothing padded.
  3. Seven three-mark answers. Three distinct points, or a sketch backed by two points.
  4. Three four-mark case or source questions. Read the passage or data twice before writing.
  5. Three five-mark long answers. A diagram or equation, then numbered points that explain it.

For practice, nothing beats the board's own sample papers and their marking schemes, published on cbseacademic.nic.in.

Which CBSE science topics are marked in school, not on the board paper?

In 2026-27 the school, not the board, assesses three topics: evolution; how elements are classified in the periodic table; and electromagnetic induction with the electric generator and motor. Do not skip them, as each comes back in Class 11, but give the final weeks of revision to chapters the board paper will test. The curriculum names 14 experiments as well, and board questions often lean on them, so a complete practical file doubles as revision notes.

The main exam is compulsory for all. After it, CBSE runs an optional second sitting where a student may attempt to raise the score in as many as three subjects, science among them. Prepare as if the main exam is the only one, and follow cbse.gov.in for dates; our board-year planner lays out the months.

Why do CBSE Class 9 students need this year's book, not an older sibling's notes?

CBSE Class 9 now follows NCERT's newer textbook, Exploration, in the 2026-27 curriculum. Marks are still split 80 and 20, yet the units are new: 27 for matter, 25 for the living world, 23 for motion, force, work and sound, and 5 for Earth as a system. Notes kept by an elder brother or sister follow the earlier book and can mislead, so ask the tutor to plan from the new one.

What makes ICSE science different?

In ICSE Class 10, CISCE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate papers, and each has its own internal assessment. Schools pick their textbooks within the council's syllabus, so a tutor should teach from the school's books and practise from the specimen papers on cisce.org. ICSE marks reward exact definitions and numericals carried through to the final unit. Fewer Kolhapur tutors have taught ICSE recently, so say "ICSE" in your first message; including online tutors in the search widens the choice.

How can a tutor help a child who thinks in Marathi but writes science in English?

Marathi is the mother tongue for most Kolhapur families, and Hindi and English are widely spoken. The State Board recognises Marathi-medium and English-medium schools, and children in CBSE or ICSE schools write in English. A tutor can explain an idea in Marathi or Hindi first, but the textbook's term must then go on paper, and drawings must follow the conventions examiners expect. By Class 10, these five should be second nature:

  • Light: an arrow on every ray, with virtual rays shown dotted.
  • Electricity: standard symbols; the ammeter in series, the voltmeter across the part being measured.
  • The human body: clean outlines of the heart and digestive system, with correctly spelt labels.
  • Reactions: balanced every time, with state symbols where asked.
  • Heredity: each cross set out step by step before any ratio is written.

What should families in six Kolhapur localities arrange before the first science lesson?

For a younger child the lesson falls in the gap after school and before the evening meal. An address a stranger can follow, and a slot that repeats, matter more than anything. Tutors for every area are on our Kolhapur page.

Six Kolhapur localities: how to guide a science tutor there, and one thing to agree first

More local detail is on the Old City Peths and Shahupuri and Rajarampuri zone pages, and our Kolhapur home tuition guide goes through the city area by area.

What should you look for in the free science demo?

Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child's class is on now. In a good demo, the tutor checks what the child already knows before explaining, asks the child to draw or label something, and uses the textbook's own words. Watch, too, whether your child starts asking questions back. Our demo class checklist lists more signs. If the match is wrong, tell us: another tutor from the shortlist comes for a demo, and any later change is free.

How are science tuition fees set in Kolhapur?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor names their own rate. Worth asking a tutor for a Class 6 to 9 child: what share of lessons goes on fresh chapters and what share on revision, and could a weekly visit sometimes move online? Fees show on the shortlist before the demo, and the Kolhapur home tuition fees guide has more questions to ask.

What should a Kolhapur family send NXTutors to get science tutors?

Five details are enough: the class and board; the topic or branch giving trouble; the medium of the school and the language at home; your locality and one landmark; and which afternoons are open. We reply with two or three science tutors and their fees, and you choose one for the free demo. Where no suitable tutor can come at your hour, lessons online or a home-and-online mix is the fallback; see online tuition in Kolhapur. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works).

For Classes 11 and 12, the Kolhapur pages for physics, chemistry and biology take over, and the national science home tutor page covers other cities. Elsewhere in Maharashtra, see science tutors in Pune or our Mumbai page. Science Home Tutor in Kolhapur: common questions

How much does a science home tutor in Kolhapur cost for Classes 6 to 10?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Kolhapur science tutors set their own rates, and every fee is on your shortlist before the demo, so you can compare calmly.

How do I find a science tutor for my child in Kolhapur through NXTutors?

Send NXTutors the class and board, the topic that troubles your child, the school medium and home language, your locality and the free afternoons. We reply with two or three science tutors and their fees. You choose one for a free demo, and if the fit is wrong, another shortlisted tutor can come.

What is an activity-sheet paper in State Board science for Kolhapur students?

It is the State Board format in which Science and Technology for Standards IX and X is answered on activity sheets, across two 40-mark papers. School work, including experiments, the journal and projects, adds 20 marks. Kolhapur students should read each activity fully before writing and keep both papers moving every week.

For a Kolhapur CBSE student, which Class 10 science units are worth the most marks?

Chemical Substances and World of Living carry the most, 25 marks each, on the 80-mark CBSE board paper for 2026-27. Effects of Current brings 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school awards the other 20 marks, so a Kolhapur tutor should spend the most time on reactions and life processes.

Which CBSE science topics are assessed only in school for 2026-27?

Three topics are assessed in school and kept off the board paper: evolution, the periodic classification of elements, and electromagnetic induction with the generator and motor. They should still be taught properly, because each returns in Class 11, but board revision time is better spent on the chapters the paper will test.

Why should a Kolhapur Class 9 CBSE student avoid an older sibling's science notes?

Older notes follow a textbook CBSE no longer uses for Class 9. The 2026-27 curriculum uses NCERT's newer book, Exploration, with units regrouped as matter 27, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. A tutor should plan from the new book only.

Can a science tutor in Kolhapur explain in Marathi for an English-medium student?

Yes, a Kolhapur science tutor can explain an idea in Marathi or Hindi first and then insist on the English term on paper. Marathi is the mother tongue of most families here. The written answer, the labels and the diagrams must still follow the textbook and the language of the exam.

Is ICSE science one paper or three for Kolhapur students?

ICSE science is three separate CISCE papers in Class 10: Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with its own internal assessment. Schools choose textbooks within the council's syllabus, so a tutor should teach from those books and the specimen papers on cisce.org. Fewer Kolhapur tutors teach ICSE, so mention it early.

What should Shahupuri or Nagala Park families tell a new science tutor?

Families should share an address a newcomer can follow on the first visit. In a Shahupuri flat, give the building, wing and floor, and tell the watchman a tutor is expected. In Nagala Park, give the street and building and say whether you are on the palace side or the main road side.

Should a Kolhapur child have one tutor for all three sciences before Class 11?

Yes, one tutor for physics, chemistry and biology usually suits a child up to Class 10. The same teacher can see whether a wrong physics answer comes from weak arithmetic or a missing idea, and can balance the week across chapters. Separate subject specialists make more sense from Class 11 onwards.
