Rajasthan Board tutors in Kota: Class 10, Class 12, and the Class 11 year that links them

For a Kota student on the state board, three documents matter more than any guidebook: the board's syllabus file for the class, the prospectus that explains how marks are made up, and the model questions the board publishes. All three sit on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in. A useful RBSE tutor teaches from them. This page explains what the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan examines, why Class 11 deserves as much care as the two board years, how the 2026–27 syllabus weights Class 11 physics, mathematics and English, how Class 12 physics and economics are marked, what Hindi or English medium means for written answers, and how a board plan sits alongside entrance work that many Kota science students also take on. Exam details below come from the board's own website; check the current file there before relying on any of them.

What the Rajasthan board examines

The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, usually shortened to RBSE, was established in Jaipur on 4 December 1957 under the Rajasthan Secondary Education Act of that year and moved to Ajmer in 1961, where its headquarters remains. Two of its public examinations shape almost every RBSE student's school years: the Secondary School Examination at the end of Class 10, and the Senior Secondary Examination at the end of Class 12 in the Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The board also conducts Praveshika at Class 10 level and Varishtha Upadhyay at Class 12 level for students in Sanskrit Shiksha.

Class 11 has no board paper, but the board still publishes a full syllabus for it, with marks printed against every unit. That file is worth opening even in a year without a public exam, because it shows which chapters carry weight and which books are prescribed.

Why Class 11 deserves a tutor's attention

Families sometimes treat Class 11 as a gap between two board years. In science, that is costly. The chapters of Class 11 physics and mathematics are the base for Class 12, and for a student preparing for JEE or NEET they are also a large part of the entrance syllabus. A student who drifts through mechanics or functions in Class 11 has to learn them again a year later, with far less time to spare. For the 2026–27 session, the board prescribes NCERT books, published under copyright, for Class 11 physics and mathematics, so school study, board preparation and entrance work rest on the same pages. A Class 11 tutor's job is to make those pages solid, one unit at a time, using the weights the board prints.

Class 11 physics: where the 70 theory marks sit

The Class 11 physics syllabus gives 70 marks to theory and 30 to the practical. The theory units are weighted fairly evenly, which means no chapter can be safely skipped:

RBSE Class 11 physics theory, marks by area (2026–27 syllabus)
AreaChapters and marksArea total
MechanicsMotion in a straight line 5, motion in a plane 5, laws of motion 5, work, energy and power 6, rotational motion 7, gravitation 634
Properties of matter and heatMechanical properties of solids 4 and of fluids 4, thermal properties 5, thermodynamics 4, kinetic theory 421
Oscillations and wavesOscillations 6, waves 511
MeasurementUnits and measurement 44

Mechanics carries roughly half the theory paper, and every later chapter uses its ideas, so a tutor should spend the first term there and check it again before the school's annual exam. The 30 practical marks are earned in the laboratory and the record book; a tutor can help a student understand each experiment, but the practical work itself belongs to the student and the school. Our physics home tutors in Kota page goes further into the subject.

Class 11 mathematics: fourteen chapters, 100 marks

Class 11 mathematics is a single paper of 100 marks, spread across fourteen chapters with no single chapter dominating:

RBSE Class 11 mathematics, chapter marks (2026–27 syllabus)
GroupChapters (marks)Total
Sets, relations and functionsSets (7), relations and functions (10)17
AlgebraComplex numbers and quadratic equations (7), linear inequalities (5), permutations and combinations (7), binomial theorem (6), sequences and series (7)32
TrigonometryTrigonometric functions (10)10
Coordinate and solid geometryStraight lines (7), conic sections (7), introduction to three-dimensional geometry (4)18
CalculusLimits and derivatives (9)9
Statistics and probabilityStatistics (7), probability (7)14

Algebra carries 32 of the 100 marks, and it is also where students coming from Class 10 tend to lose their footing, because permutations, the binomial theorem and series ask for a new kind of reasoning. Limits and derivatives carry only 9 marks here, but Class 12 calculus is built on them, so a tutor should not treat the chapter lightly. See maths home tutors in Kota for the subject across boards.

Class 11 English: a compulsory paper that rewards practice

English is compulsory in Class 11 and is set as one 100-mark paper. Reading carries 20 marks through unseen passages, writing 16 (a description, an article or report, and a formal letter), grammar 16 (determiners, tenses, modals and prepositions, 4 marks each), and the two prescribed books 48: prose from Hornbill 20, poetry from Hornbill 12, and the supplementary reader Snapshots 16. Both books are NCERT titles published under copyright.

For a student whose science is strong but whose written English is thin, the grammar and writing sections are a practical place to gain marks, because they follow fixed formats that improve with weekly practice. Literature answers then need quotation and explanation rather than summary. Our English home tutors in Kota page covers that subject.

Class 12 physics: two parts, two passes

In the Class 12 syllabus, physics is examined in two separate parts. The theory paper carries 56 marks and the school adds 14 sessional marks, making 70; the practical examination carries the other 30. The board states that a candidate must pass the theory and the practical separately. The same structure applies to chemistry and biology in the science stream.

For a Kota student who is also preparing for an entrance exam, this is the part of the board most easily neglected. A sensible tutor sets aside time in the second term for the practical record and viva, and checks that the school's sessional work is up to date, so that strong theory is not let down by a weak practical. The Kota chemistry and biology pages cover the other two science subjects.

Class 12 economics: macro and micro in one paper

Commerce and arts students in Kota also take RBSE papers, and economics shows how the board builds a non-science subject. It is one paper of 80 marks with 20 sessional, and the 80 split evenly between two NCERT-based parts:

RBSE Class 12 economics (10), 2026–27 syllabus
PartUnits and marksTotal
A: Introductory MacroeconomicsMacroeconomics 8, money and banking 8, income and employment 8, government budget 8, open economy 840
B: Introductory MicroeconomicsIntroduction 6, consumer behaviour 12, production and costs 12, perfect competition 1040

Consumer behaviour and production and costs carry 12 marks each and lean heavily on diagrams and schedules, so a student needs to draw and explain curves, not only define terms. A tutor who has taught a different board's Class 12 economics should check this division first, since boards do not all pair the same two books.

Hindi medium, English medium, or a mix

The board's syllabus files carry their headings in Hindi and English. Tell us the medium your child writes the paper in. A tutor may explain an idea in whichever language helps, but practice answers should use the technical terms from your child's own textbook and medium, because those are the words an examiner expects. For a student who studies in Hindi at school and in English at an entrance class, a short glossary of paired terms, built up chapter by chapter, avoids confusion in both places.

One plan for the board and the entrance

Because the board prescribes NCERT books in physics and mathematics, an RBSE science student preparing for JEE or NEET is reading the same chapters for both. The difference lies in the questions. The board paper wants complete, written answers with steps and units, and the sessional and practical marks reward steady school work; entrance papers want speed and accuracy on objective and numerical questions. A tutor working alongside school or coaching can keep both in view by marking which chapters need extra depth for the entrance and which need written practice for the board, and by reserving time before the board exams for full written answers. See our JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Kota.

RBSE tutors across six Kota localities

A weekly tutor makes the same journey every week, so we match on the route as well as the subject.

  • Rajeev Gandhi Nagar (Rangbari and Swami Vivekanand Nagar zone): plots, flats and offices stand together, so state the building type; JK Road and Sabji Mandi Main Road give tutors two ways in.
  • Swami Vivekanand Nagar: a housing board scheme laid out in sectors with parks and wide streets; sector and house number are usually enough, and parking is easy.
  • Gumanpura (Central Kota): a market area near the Shopping Centre; tutors come from many directions, but late-afternoon market traffic makes mornings and weekends easier.
  • Nayapura: known city-wide for its interstate bus stand; give a side-lane landmark and book outside the main-road rush.
  • Bhimganj Mandi (North Kota): the area around Kota Junction, with railway housing, apartment buildings and markets; name the colony or building.
  • Kunhari: apartment complexes and gated colonies on the Bundi Road side; the guard will usually want the tutor's name before the first visit.

Every locality is listed on the Kota home tutors page, and the Kota home tuition guide goes through the city zone by zone.

Home visits, online lessons, or both

For Class 10 mathematics and science, and for any student writing in Hindi medium, a tutor at the table can check each written line and the terms used in it, which is what the board marks. In Classes 11 and 12, when school and an entrance class may already fill much of the day, one home session and one shorter online session a week is often easier to sustain. Online also helps when the right tutor for a subject such as economics or English lives on the far side of the city. Our online tutors for Kota page and the home versus online comparison explain the choice.

Six questions for an RBSE demo

  1. Have you opened this session's syllabus file? Ask which units carry heavy marks in your child's subject.
  2. Which RBSE classes have you taught? Class 11 physics and Class 10 science need different preparation.
  3. Can you teach in my child's medium? Ask to see an answer written with the textbook's terms.
  4. How will you handle the practical? In Class 12 science it is passed separately from theory.
  5. How will you fit around school and any entrance class? Days, times and test weeks.
  6. Which route will you take? The same journey has to work every week.

We send two or three matched tutors and show each fee before the demo; the first class is free and switching tutor later is free. Which details should a Kota family share to be matched with an RBSE tutor?

To find a Rajasthan board tutor in Kota, tell us the class, stream, medium, subjects, colony or sector with a landmark, and slots that stay free. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

Besides Class 10 and 12, does RBSE run any other exams Kota families should know?

Yes, besides the Class 10 Secondary and Class 12 Senior Secondary exams for Kota students, RBSE conducts Praveshika and Varishtha Upadhyay for Sanskrit Shiksha. The Senior Secondary exam covers Arts, Science and Commerce. Set up in 1957, it has worked from Ajmer since 1961.

Is a tutor worth it in RBSE Class 11 in Kota when there is no board paper?

Yes, a tutor is often worth it in RBSE Class 11 in Kota, because Class 11 physics and maths underpin Class 12 and much of JEE or NEET. The board prescribes NCERT books for both in 2026-27, and its syllabus prints marks against every unit.

How does the 2026-27 RBSE syllabus weight Class 11 physics for Kota students?

For Kota students, RBSE Class 11 physics has 70 theory marks and a 30-mark practical in 2026-27. Mechanics carries 34 of the theory marks, properties of matter and heat 21, oscillations and waves 11, and measurement 4, so a tutor should give mechanics the first term.

Where do RBSE Class 11 maths marks concentrate for a Kota student?

RBSE Class 11 maths marks concentrate in algebra for a Kota student, 32 of the 100 marks across five chapters. Coordinate and solid geometry bring 18, and sets, relations and functions 17. Limits and derivatives carry only 9, but Class 12 calculus is built on them.

How is RBSE Class 11 English marked for a Kota science student?

For a Kota science student, RBSE Class 11 English is a compulsory 100-mark paper: reading 20, writing 16, grammar 16, and the two prescribed books 48. Hornbill prose brings 20, Hornbill poetry 12 and Snapshots 16, so grammar and writing are practical places to gain marks.

Can strong RBSE physics theory make up for a weak practical in Kota?

No, strong RBSE physics theory cannot make up for a weak practical in Kota, because Class 12 theory and practical are each passed on their own. Physics has a 56-mark theory paper plus 14 sessional, and a 30-mark practical; chemistry and biology follow the same structure.

How is RBSE Class 12 economics split for Kota commerce and arts students?

For Kota commerce and arts students, RBSE Class 12 economics is an 80-mark paper with 20 sessional marks, split evenly between macroeconomics and microeconomics at 40 each. Consumer behaviour and production and costs carry 12 each and need curves drawn and explained.

Can a Kota RBSE tutor teach in Hindi medium and prepare for JEE or NEET too?

Yes, a Kota RBSE tutor can teach in Hindi medium and support JEE or NEET, since the board prescribes NCERT physics and maths. Practice answers should use the textbook's terms in your child's medium. A glossary of paired Hindi and English terms helps students who study in both.

Should RBSE tuition in Kota be at home or partly online?

For RBSE Class 10 maths and science, and Hindi-medium writing, a Kota tutor at the table can check each written line and term. In Classes 11 and 12, one home session and one shorter online session a week is often easier around school and entrance classes.
