Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In a city where so much attention goes to maths and science, English is easy to leave until late. Yet it is a compulsory board subject for every Class 10 and Class 12 student, and literature alone is half the Class 10 paper on both the Rajasthan board and CBSE. Some Kota students read well but write thin answers; some think in Hindi and lose marks on sentence structure; others want spoken confidence for interviews and presentations. We ask which board your child sits, which skill needs work and where you live, then send two or three English tutors who fit, with fees shown. The first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo.
A Kota student may be on the Rajasthan board (RBSE), CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, or an international course such as IB or Cambridge IGCSE. The subject has the same name everywhere, but the paper behind it differs.
| Board | Class 10 | Class 12 | Lesson material |
|---|---|---|---|
| RBSE | One paper of 80 with 20 sessional; reading 20, writing and grammar 20, literature 40 | Compulsory for every faculty; reading 22, writing and grammar 18, Flamingo 29, Vistas 11 | The NCERT readers and the board's model questions |
| CBSE | Language and Literature: an 80-mark board paper; the school awards the other 20 | English Core: 80 written; the remaining 20 cover listening, speaking and a project | NCERT readers with CBSE sample papers and marking schemes |
| CISCE | ICSE has a language paper and a literature paper, 80 marks apiece, plus internal work | ISC likewise has two 80-mark papers, and project work sits alongside each | The prescribed texts and CISCE specimen papers |
| Cambridge; IB | IGCSE English as a first language (0500) or a second language (0510/0511) | IB Language A, assessed through analysis of unseen texts, a comparative essay and an oral | Past papers, and the entry the school has chosen |
The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, sets English as one written paper of 80 marks with 20 sessional marks in Class 10, and it uses the same NCERT readers as CBSE: First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. Forty of the 80 written marks come from those two books, twenty from reading and twenty from writing and grammar. In Class 12, English is compulsory in every faculty, and the 80 written marks split into reading 22, writing and grammar 18, Flamingo 29 and Vistas 11.
Those weights point to a clear plan. Literature answers deserve a big slice of lesson time in both years, planned in points and tied to the text. Writing tasks need a format learned once and then content practised weekly. And where a student studies other subjects in Hindi, the tutor should check that English answers are written in full English sentences, not translated phrase by phrase. Our Rajasthan board tutors in Kota page covers the rest of the board.
Kota's CBSE students use the same two NCERT readers as RBSE students, but the board paper is cut differently. Under CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum:
| Section | Marks | Weekly habit |
|---|---|---|
| Reading: one discursive passage, one factual case-based passage with a chart or data | 20 | An unseen passage done against the clock, each answer traced back to a line |
| Grammar, from the syllabus list | 10 | Mistakes collected from the child's own writing and corrected by type |
| Writing: a formal letter and an analytical paragraph on a graph, map or chart | 5 + 5 | Layout fixed early, then fresh content and linkers each week |
| Literature from the two readers | 40 | Answers drafted as points, within the word limit, quoting the text |
The school's 20 internal marks include 5 for listening and speaking. Because literature is half the written paper here too, a pair of marked literature answers each week is usually worth more than another grammar worksheet.
A student who changes from Hindi-medium schooling to English-medium books faces a new language and new content at once. The tutor's job is to start bilingual and end in English, in planned steps:
Yes, and it fits board preparation, since CBSE, ICSE and ISC all give marks for listening and speaking. A tutor can close each lesson with a short spoken summary of the day's passage and build up to small talks and question-and-answer practice. If spoken English matters for its own sake, for interviews, group discussions or presentations, say so in your request, because it changes which tutor we suggest. The spoken English guide for students explains what helps.
For younger children the target is fluent reading rather than exam skill. Signs that help is needed include guessing words from the first letter, losing the line, or avoiding books altogether. Short practice on several days a week works better than one long sitting: decoding unfamiliar words, reading aloud with gentle correction, and telling the story back in the child's own words. Where English is rarely spoken at home, the tutor can chat about pictures and simple stories in English and fall back on Hindi only when the child is stuck. Ask specifically for someone experienced with primary classes.
In CBSE English Core, Class 11 marks are reading 26, grammar and creative writing 23 and literature 31, with Hornbill and Snapshots as readers; Class 12 moves to Flamingo and Vistas, the books RBSE students also study. ISC splits English into a language paper (composition, directed writing and a proposal) and a literature paper. An IGCSE family should first confirm which English the school has entered the student for, while IB Language A students prepare for unseen analysis and an individual oral. Teachers for these courses can be harder to find close to home, so online lessons are often the practical route. The national English home tutor guide covers each course in more depth.
Tutors in Kota mainly travel by two-wheeler or auto, so a tutor from your own side of the city is often the reliable choice. The Kota home tuition page lists every locality.
| Colony | Homes | Plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Talwandi | Independent houses on inner streets; shops and coaching centres on the main roads | A regular slot fixed in advance, since main roads fill up in the evening |
| Indra Vihar | Houses and residential plots, with flats appearing above shops on busier roads | Building name and floor for a flat; an early-evening or weekend slot near the flyover |
| Mahaveer Nagar | Independent houses across Mahaveer Nagar II, III, the extension and a housing board colony | Name the exact part along with block and house number |
| Jawahar Nagar | Houses and newer flats, some above street-level shops | Say house or flat; give building and floor so the tutor is not kept at the gate |
| Shrinathpuram | Residential plots and houses numbered by block | Block and plot number up front; parking outside a house is usually easy |
| Vigyan Nagar | Independent houses, builder floors and some villas | Sector or block, house number and the flyover as landmark; avoid office-time traffic |
The Talwandi and Mahaveer Nagar and Dadabari and Vigyan Nagar zone pages add landmarks and quieter times, and the Kota home tuition guide compares the city's zones.
English is one of the easier subjects to teach online, from roughly Class 3 upward, provided the tutor sees the written work before the session, as notebook photos or a shared file. Online lessons also bring ISC, IGCSE and IB specialists within reach. Sitting at the same table helps more with early readers, with students in the first months of moving from Hindi medium, and with speaking practice. If the tutor who suits you lives on the other side of the city, alternate a home visit with an online session each week; our online tutors for Kota page explains how online lessons run.
If not, tell us. The next tutor on your shortlist takes a demo, and a later change of tutor is free.

You see each fee before the demo; the Kota home tuition fees guide explains more.

A Kota family sends the class, board, the skill that worries them, the language the child is at ease in, colony with a landmark and free times. We reply with two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Kota RBSE students should give literature heavy lesson time because it carries 40 of the 80 written Class 10 English marks, from First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. Reading and writing with grammar bring 20 each, and the school adds 20 sessional marks.
For a Kota science or commerce student, RBSE Class 12 English is compulsory in every faculty and carries 80 written marks. Reading brings 22, writing and grammar 18, Flamingo 29 and Vistas 11. The school adds 20 sessional marks, so English should not be left to the end of the year.
For Kota CBSE Class 10 students, each English section suits its own weekly habit. Time an unseen passage for reading's 20 marks, and correct grammar by error type for 10. Fix the letter and analytical paragraph layout early, and draft two literature answers weekly for the 40 literature marks.
An English tutor moves a Kota student from Hindi medium by starting bilingual and ending in English, in planned steps. Two-way translation shows where word order breaks, a daily reading log builds vocabulary, and ready answer openers help. Agree a date for English-only lessons, often after the first term.
Yes, a Kota English tutor can prepare a child for interviews, group discussions and presentations, alongside board work that already marks listening and speaking. Lessons can close with a short spoken summary and build to small talks. Say in your request if spoken English is the main goal.
A Kota tutor should aim at fluent reading for a primary child, with short practice on several days a week rather than one long sitting. Decoding, reading aloud with gentle correction and retelling the story help. Where English is rarely spoken at home, the tutor chats about pictures in English.
English tutors reach Kota colonies such as Talwandi, Indra Vihar, Mahaveer Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Shrinathpuram and Vigyan Nagar, usually by two-wheeler or auto. Share the exact part of Mahaveer Nagar, the block and plot in Shrinathpuram, and building and floor for flats.
Yes, a Kota child from roughly Class 3 upward can learn English well online, provided the tutor sees written work before each session. It brings ISC, IGCSE and IB specialists within reach. Home lessons help early readers, recent Hindi-medium switchers and speaking practice.
