Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Kota is a city where maths is taught in many rooms at once: the school classroom, the coaching batch for students preparing for engineering entrance, and the kitchen table where homework actually gets done. What children often lack is a single adult who looks at their own written steps and says exactly where the method slipped. That is the gap a home maths tutor fills. Tell NXTutors your child's class, the board that sets the paper (the Rajasthan board, CBSE, CISCE or an international course) and your colony, and we send two or three maths tutors who fit all three. Each tutor's fee is on the shortlist before you meet, and the first class is a free demo.
The exam guidance on this page has two named authors. Ajay Vatsyayan is responsible for the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths sections, and Abhinandan Tiwary for Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE. The Rajasthan board material is taken from the board's own published syllabus and prospectus. Start with the row that matches your child; it tells you what to ask a tutor in the very first conversation.
| Course | Examining body | How the marks are made up | First question for the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 10 (Secondary) | Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE) | Written paper of 80, plus 20 sessional marks sent by the school | Will you plan the year around the board's chapter marks? |
| Class 12 (Senior Secondary) mathematics | RBSE | One paper of 80 and 20 sessional | Have you taught the RBSE Class 12 paper in my child's medium? |
| Class 10, Standard or Basic | CBSE | Board paper of 80; the school assesses 20 | Which level fits my child, and on what evidence? |
| Class 12 | CBSE | 38 compulsory questions for 80, with 20 internal | How early will calculus start? |
| ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 | CISCE | Written paper of 80 plus 20 for internal or project work | Which exam year's syllabus are you working from? |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB: timed papers plus an exploration. IGCSE: Core or Extended tier | Which course or tier have you taught recently? |
The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, was set up in 1957 and has worked from Ajmer since 1961. It conducts the Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) examinations, and for maths it prescribes the NCERT textbook, published for the board under copyright. Its 2026-27 syllabus gives every chapter a fixed share of the 80 written marks, and that list is a ready-made planning tool for any tutor in Kota working with a Rajasthan-board child. We have grouped the chapters into the weight bands a weekly plan should follow:
| Band | Chapters and marks | How a tutor should treat the band |
|---|---|---|
| Large single chapter | Statistics 13 | Mean, median and mode from grouped data, practised until the table work is clean; a slip in one column spoils the whole answer |
| Trigonometry pair | Introduction to trigonometry 8; heights and distances 5 | Identities first, then figures drawn before any ratio is chosen |
| Middle weight | Coordinate geometry 7; circles 6; surface areas and volumes 6 | Formula sheet built by the student, tested weekly |
| Five-mark chapters | Pair of linear equations 5; arithmetic progressions 5; areas related to circles 5 | Word problems turned into equations, step by step |
| Four-mark chapters | Real numbers; polynomials; quadratic equations; triangles; probability (4 each) | Short, regular practice so these never become lost marks |
Two rules in the board's prospectus are worth knowing. Where the syllabus printed in a textbook differs from the updated syllabus and mark split on the board website, the website version prevails, so a tutor should plan from the current file on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in rather than an older guidebook. And the board publishes its syllabus in Hindi and English, with schools teaching in either; a Hindi-medium student should write answers with the textbook's Hindi terms even if a concept is first explained in English. Our Rajasthan board tutors in Kota page covers the other subjects.
Every main RBSE Class 10 subject carries 20 sessional marks that the school reports to the board. The prospectus builds them from five parts, and a maths tutor has a real role in only some of them:
For 2026-27, CBSE spreads 80 board marks over 14 NCERT chapters in seven units, and the paper keeps last session's design. Algebra (polynomials, linear equations in two variables, quadratics and arithmetic progressions) carries 20 marks; geometry 15; trigonometry, including heights and distances, 12; statistics and probability 11; mensuration 10; and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 each.
The paper is laid out in five sections. Section A holds 20 one-mark questions (18 multiple-choice and 2 assertion–reason), B has five two-mark questions, C six three-mark ones, D four five-mark ones and E three case studies worth four marks each. Calculators are not allowed, and π is taken as 22/7 unless stated. Standard and Basic cover the same chapters at different depth: roughly 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, against roughly 75% in Basic, so a student who may take maths in Class 11 should sit Standard. CBSE now also allows an optional second Class 10 exam to improve up to three subjects, maths among them; take the schedule only from cbse.gov.in. For chapter-by-chapter help, read the Class 10 maths preparation guide and the board-year planner, and see our Class 10 maths tutor page.
Many senior students in Kota already have a full timetable of school and coaching for engineering entrance. A home tutor should not become a third lecture on the same chapter. The useful work is narrower and more personal, and it usually falls into three jobs:
For students also writing JEE Main, the 2026 Paper 1 had 25 maths questions, 20 multiple-choice and 5 needing a numerical answer, each worth +4 when right and −1 when wrong; confirm the next pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Our JEE maths topic-wise guide, the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and the JEE home tutors in Kota page go further, and the Class 12 maths tutor page shows how we match for the board year.
Teachers for these courses can be harder to find close to home, so name the course in your first message. If nobody suitable lives within reach, an online specialist can take the course work while a local tutor checks practice.
Kota's southern colonies sit close together, so a maths tutor from the next colony is often a steady choice. Tutors mainly travel by two-wheeler or auto. Compare tutors by locality on our Kota page.
| Colony | Homes | Arrival | Settle in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Talwandi | Independent houses on the inner streets; shops, offices and coaching centres on the main roads | Straight to the door of a house; New Kota (Dakaniya Talav) station is the nearby rail halt | A fixed slot agreed at the start, since the main roads fill up in the evening |
| Mahaveer Nagar | Mainly independent houses across several parts, including II, III, the extension and a housing board colony | A doorstep visit with parking outside the gate | Which part of Mahaveer Nagar you live in, with block and house number |
| Keshavpura | Houses on residential streets behind a main road of shops and showrooms | By two-wheeler or auto straight to the door | House number, street and a nearby circle or shop; the inner lanes are calmer than the main road |
| Dadabari | An established area of houses, with a newer part called Dadabari Extension | Reachable from many parts of the city, being between the old centre and the south | Whether you are in Dadabari or the extension, since the two are easily confused |
| Shrinathpuram | Residential plots and houses numbered by block, with some offices on the main roads | A full address usually leads to the gate; parking is rarely a problem | Block and plot number first; an early or weekend slot if evenings are crowded |
| Vigyan Nagar | Independent houses, with some builder floors and villas, along NH-52 and State Highway 51 | The Vigyan Nagar flyover is the landmark everyone knows | A session after the office rush around the flyover and the industrial roads |
The zone guides for Talwandi and Mahaveer Nagar and Dadabari and Vigyan Nagar add more local detail, and the Kota home tuition guide walks through every part of the city.
Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is on at school this week, not a prepared showpiece, and keep the last school test or coaching sheet on the table. Then watch for these signs:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on your shortlist takes a demo; a change of tutor later is also free. Our demo class checklist for parents has more questions to ask.
At the same table, a tutor sees a wrong step the moment it is written, which matters for younger children, for geometry proofs and for Hindi-medium students whose written terms need checking. Online sessions suit a specialist who lives across the city, an IB or ISC course with few local teachers, or an evening when coaching runs late. Many families settle on one home visit and one online session a week. The home tutor or online tutor article and our online tutors for Kota page compare the two.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees. When you compare a shortlist, ask each tutor which board and class they have taught recently, how many sessions a week they suggest, and whether a shorter online session can replace a visit in exam weeks. Every fee is visible before the demo, and the Kota home tuition fees guide explains what to ask.
Five details are enough: the class; the course by its full name (RBSE, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your colony with a nearby landmark; the days and times you can offer around school or coaching; and the fee range you have in mind. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, and you pick one for a free demo. If no suitable tutor can reach your colony at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how the ID check works). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national maths home tutor page and our maths tutors in Jaipur page show how we work elsewhere in the state. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, and you see every shortlisted fee before choosing whom to meet.
Statistics stands alone at 13 of the 80 written marks in the board's 2026-27 syllabus. The two trigonometry chapters together also carry 13, coordinate geometry 7, and circles and surface areas 6 each. The remaining chapters carry 4 or 5 marks, so none of them can safely be left out of revision.
Yes. Tell us the medium when you ask. The Rajasthan board publishes its syllabus in Hindi and English, and a Hindi-medium student should write answers with the textbook's Hindi terms. We shortlist tutors who can explain and mark in that medium, even if they sometimes clarify an idea in English.
It can be, if the tutor does a different job from the batch. A home tutor can work through coaching problems your child left unsolved, keep school and board papers on track with full written working, and sort test mistakes into concept gaps, slips and misread questions to plan the next week.
We match across the city, from Talwandi, Mahaveer Nagar and Keshavpura to Dadabari, Shrinathpuram and Vigyan Nagar, and on to central and north Kota. Tutors from a neighbouring colony usually keep a regular slot more easily. Where nobody suitable can reach you at your chosen time, we suggest online or mixed lessons.
Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is a real possibility. Both levels cover the same 14 chapters for 80 board marks, but Basic puts about three-quarters of its marks on remembering and understanding, while Standard asks for much more application. Check your school's deadline, because the choice is made at registration.
Each main Class 10 subject has 20 sessional marks: 10 from the school's half-yearly and periodic tests, 5 for a project, 3 for attendance, 1 for conduct and 1 for tree planting. A tutor can help prepare for the tests and plan the project, but the project must remain your child's own work.
Tell us after the demo. Another tutor from your shortlist can take a free demo, and if you change tutor later in the year, that switch is free too. It helps to say what did not work, such as pace, language or board knowledge, so the next match fits better.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
