Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in South Mumbai, Mumbai
South Mumbai is the narrow southern tip of the island city, and tutoring here starts with geography. The zone takes in Colaba at the very end of the peninsula, Cuffe Parade on its western shore, the ridge of Malabar Hill, the seafront lanes of Breach Candy and the tower belt of Tardeo, which stretches from Nana Chowk to Haji Ali Junction. Almost every tutor who teaches here comes in from the north, so the question is never just whether you can teach the subject, but whether your route reaches the right building at the right hour.
No open home-tuition requests in South Mumbai right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; add South Mumbai to your travel areas so they can reach you.
The housing is distinctive. Colaba keeps colonial-era buildings beside later apartment blocks along its causeway, and its southern end is a cantonment that includes the Navy Nagar residential layout. Cuffe Parade, laid out in 1906, pairs tall residential towers with office high-rises. Malabar Hill has a few older bungalows among its towers near Banganga Tank and the Walkeshwar side, while Breach Candy's apartment buildings face the sea or sit in lanes behind the main road. For a tutor, that mostly means lobby desks, security staff and a little planning before each first visit.
The underground Line 3, the Aqua Line, has run all the way to Cuffe Parade since October 2025, with stations including Grant Road, Girgaon, Kalbadevi, Hutatma Chowk, Vidhan Bhavan and Cuffe Parade, as well as Churchgate, CSMT and Mahalaxmi. That gives a tutor living near Dadar, Worli or the airport side a direct route south without traffic. The older gateways still matter: Churchgate is the Western line terminus, CSMT serves the Central and Harbour lines, and Mumbai Central sits right beside Tardeo.
Match the station to the address. Line 3 at Cuffe Parade or Churchgate suits Colaba and Cuffe Parade, with a short taxi or bus ride along the Causeway for Colaba. Mumbai Central is the stop for Tardeo and Breach Candy, finishing by bus along the seafront road or a short taxi. Malabar Hill has no station on the hill itself, so tutors go up by taxi or bus, and a pickup point on the main road helps on the first visit.
Requests from South Mumbai are matched like any other: tutors living in the zone come first, then those who already travel down on Line 3 or the Western line, then tutors from the rest of Mumbai, and then online tutors across India. That last step matters here, because for specialist subjects such as IB or IGCSE sciences an online tutor can widen a family's choice. If you teach an international board or a senior specialist subject, say so clearly and switch on online lessons; you can be considered for this zone without living anywhere near it. If you live on Line 3 or the Western line, listing South Mumbai among your zones puts you early in the queue for home requests.
Most homes are in towers with a staffed lobby desk, so the family gives building staff your name and flat number before the demo, and you sign in on arrival. Inside the defence area at Colaba, there is a separate visitor entry process; the family should check it before booking the free demo and pass your full name and phone number to whoever issues passes. Once a regular arrangement is in place, weekly visits become simple. Parking inside buildings is often limited to residents, which is one more reason most tutors arrive by metro, train or taxi.
Office traffic around Nariman Point and the seafront builds at the start and end of the working day, and Haji Ali Junction and Nana Chowk slow down too. A late-afternoon or weekend slot is usually easier to hold each week, and near Tardeo a class later in the afternoon is often more predictable than one straight after school pickup. Colaba Causeway is busy with shoppers and visitors in the evening, so earlier weekday slots run more smoothly there. On days when entry or traffic gets in the way, an online lesson keeps the week intact.

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes. Line 3 runs underground to its Cuffe Parade terminus, so a tutor from Dadar, Worli or the airport side can ride straight down. For Colaba, finish with a short taxi or bus ride along the Causeway from Cuffe Parade or Churchgate.
Tardeo, usually. Mumbai Central station on the Western line is right beside it, so a short walk or taxi covers the last stretch. Malabar Hill takes longer because there is no station on the hill and you go up by taxi or bus.
The family checks the visitor entry rules before the free demo and passes your name and phone number to whoever issues passes. Once a regular arrangement exists, weekly visits are straightforward; in any week when entry is delayed, the lesson can move online.
If you can reach it, yes, and if you cannot, switch on online lessons. Families here can be matched with online tutors from across India for specialist subjects such as IB or IGCSE sciences, so a clear international-board profile helps either way.
Away from office hours. Late afternoons and weekends tend to be easier to hold each week, given traffic around Nariman Point, Haji Ali Junction and Nana Chowk, and evening crowds on Colaba Causeway.
