What home tuition costs in Chandigarh

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Accountancy tuition across the tricity: one subject, three state lines

A commerce student in Sector 21 and one in Mohali Phase 7 may live a short drive apart and still sit different accountancy papers. The tricity spans a Union Territory, Punjab and Haryana, so a family's board can follow its address as much as its school. That makes the first question in any request simple: which board, which class, and which option has the school chosen for Class 12? After that come the practical ones, such as which side of Housing Board Chowk you live on and whether a tutor can reach you before the evening rush on Madhya Marg. This page, written by the NXTutors Academic Team, covers those local decisions. The full syllabus walk-through sits on our national accountancy home tutor guide.

Which accountancy paper does your child sit?

Tricity families study under up to five boards, and accountancy is examined differently in each. Before a tutor plans a single lesson, they need to know which of these the student is preparing for.

Class 11–12 commerce papers a tricity student may sit, as the official documents describe them
BoardAccounting paperHow it is markedWhat to tell the tutor
CBSEAccountancy (055), with Business Studies (054) alongsideThree-hour theory paper of 80 plus 20 marks of project work in each classWhether Class 12 takes Financial Statement Analysis or Computerised Accounting
CISCE (ISC)Accounts (858); Commerce (857) is a separate, descriptive subject80-mark paper: 20 compulsory short-answer marks, then longer 12-mark questions; two 10-mark projectsSection B or Section C in Class 12
CambridgeIGCSE Accounting (0452); AS & A Level Accounting (9706)IGCSE: a multiple-choice paper and a structured written paper, untiered. A Level adds cost and management accountingThe qualification and the exam series
IB DiplomaNo separate accounting course; Business Management and Economics are the neighbouring subjectsSet by the IB course chosenThe course and unit, not just "accounts"
PSEB / Haryana boardThe board's own Class 11–12 commerce accountancyIts own syllabus, books and question paperThe medium of teaching and the prescribed textbook

For a CBSE student, the Class 11 marks are weighted heavily towards the accounting process: 44 of the 80 theory marks sit in the unit that runs from vouchers and the journal to the trial balance and rectification. That is where the habits are set, and where a good tutor will usually want to start, even with a Class 12 student who is struggling with partnership accounts.

What if the school follows the Punjab or Haryana board?

On the Mohali side, including Zirakpur, some families study under the Punjab School Education Board, and in Panchkula the Board of School Education Haryana is the state option. We describe their commerce streams only in general terms: each board sets its own Class 11 and 12 syllabus, prescribes its own textbooks and writes its own papers, and each publishes its scheme on its official website. A tutor should teach from the book your child actually carries and from that board's past papers, not from a CBSE guide that happens to cover similar chapters.

Two details help us match well. First, the medium: a student who learns journal entries and ledger terms in a language other than English needs a tutor who can explain them in that language first, and move to English only if the family wants that shift. Second, any planned change of school. Families who cross the Panchkula–Chandigarh line between Class 10 and Class 11 sometimes change boards too, and a tutor who knows both the state book and CBSE eases the first term.

Ask the school one question before you hire anyone

In CBSE Class 12, partnership firms (36 marks) and company accounts (24 marks) are compulsory. The remaining 20 theory marks come either from Financial Statement Analysis, which covers ratios and the cash flow statement, or from Computerised Accounting, which replaces the project with practical work. ISC offers a similar fork: Section B for analysis and cash flow, Section C for spreadsheets and database work. A tutor brilliant at ratios may never have taught spreadsheet functions, so find out which branch the school teaches and put it in the request.

The project deserves the same early attention. In CBSE Class 12 it is an analysis of a company's financial statements, worth 12 marks for the file and 8 for the viva. A tutor can teach the tools and rehearse the viva questions; the analysis and the writing must remain the student's own.

Accountancy and CUET (UG)

Students aiming at central universities can take Accountancy / Book Keeping (code 301) as a CUET (UG) domain subject. The NTA's 2026 bulletin sets each domain test at 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes and bases the syllabus on NCERT's Class 12 books. Because the NTA issues a fresh bulletin every cycle, check the current one before planning. For tutoring, the shift is from writing full solutions to spotting the right treatment fast; most tutors add timed objective practice only once the board chapters are secure.

How do tutors reach each part of the tricity?

There is no metro in operation, so every home lesson depends on a car, a scooter, a city bus or an auto. The commute that matters most is the one between Panchkula and Chandigarh, which funnels through Madhya Marg and Housing Board Chowk.

The four tricity zones: how a visiting accountancy tutor usually arrives
ZoneGetting thereWorth sorting out early
Chandigarh Sectors 1–30By road along the Margs; the Sector 17 bus terminal serves the central sectorsBlock letter, house number and, for builder floors, which bell to ring
Sectors 31–56 & ManimajraBy road; the Sector 43 bus terminal serves the south-westSub-sector and flat number in housing-board blocks
MohaliBy road; Phase 7 borders Chandigarh's Sector 52, so southern-sector tutors are closeWhether the home is in a gated complex
Panchkula & ZirakpurBy road, often through Housing Board ChowkGate registration and a lesson time before the office rush

Six tricity addresses and what they mean for a weekly lesson

Inside the first-phase grid

Sector 15 lies beside the university campus in Sector 14, with paying-guest homes among family houses and a lively market; a mid-afternoon slot avoids the evening crowd. Sector 21 is split into blocks A to D with many builder floors, so send the block, house number and floor before the first class.

South and east

Sector 40 is mostly low-rise housing-board flats without staffed gates, so the tutor walks up to the door; the 40-C market is an easy landmark. Manimajra, notified as Sector 13 in 2020, mixes old-town lanes with planned complexes; agree parking and avoid the hour when Housing Board Chowk peaks.

Across the state lines

Mohali Phase 7 (Sector 61) borders Chandigarh's Sector 52 on Sarovar Path, so a tutor from either side of the border is practical. Zirakpur is mostly gated societies at the highway junction; register the tutor at the gate once and check where visitors park.

Our guide to tuition in the Chandigarh sectors and the Mohali and Panchkula tuition guide go deeper into each part of the tricity.

Should accountancy lessons be at home or online?

Accountancy lives in ruled columns, and a tutor sitting beside the student spots a posting on the wrong side the moment it is written. For Class 11, when the journal, ledger and adjustments are new, a home tutor is often worth the travel. Online lessons work well too if the notebook is clearly visible on a phone stand or a writing tablet and homework photos arrive before the session. For the Computerised Accounting option or ISC Section C, online is often the better choice, because tutor and student can share one spreadsheet.

We cannot promise that a particular sector has a commerce specialist nearby. What we can do is look for one who reaches you without crossing the worst of Madhya Marg, and, if the right person lives in Panchkula while you are in Mohali, suggest online or a mix of the two. Online also widens the choice for IGCSE and A Level accounting, where costing at A Level depth is a narrower skill.

What to watch for in the free demo

  • The right questions first. Board, class, medium and the Class 12 option, asked before any teaching starts.
  • A pen in your child's hand. Most of the hour should be your child writing entries, not watching.
  • Mistakes found, not just fixed. A good tutor asks a question that leads the student to the error.
  • Working notes and formats. They should insist on the layout the board marks.
  • The reason behind each entry. Ask your child afterwards whether they could explain why, not only how.
  • A plan for the week. A specific practice set and a way of checking it next time.

If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with the next tutor on your shortlist, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified.

Fees, and how to request a tutor

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, and you see it before the demo. Our tricity home tuition fees guide and the pricing guide explain what moves it.

Send the class, board and medium, the Class 12 option if known, the chapters that are hurting, your sector or phase, free times, home or online, and a budget. Families anywhere in the tricity can request an accountancy tutor; we return two or three profiles, and you choose one for a free demo class. See tutors by sector on our Chandigarh page; commerce teachers can find open requests on tricity tuition jobs.

Commerce students usually take economics too: see our economics tutors in Chandigarh. Accountancy Home Tutor in Chandigarh: common questions

How are accountancy tutor fees set in Chandigarh?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Chandigarh tutor sets their own rate, and you see it before the demo; the tricity fees guide explains what moves it.

What should a Chandigarh family send to request an accountancy tutor?

A Chandigarh family should send the class, board and medium, the Class 12 option if known, weak chapters, sector or phase, free times, home or online, and a budget. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

Can a Chandigarh tricity family in Mohali or Panchkula get an accountancy tutor?

Yes, families anywhere in the Chandigarh tricity, including Mohali and Panchkula, can request an accountancy tutor. Give your phase or sector, and we look for tutors who reach you without a long crossing through Housing Board Chowk at rush hour. If the right person lives on the far side, online or mixed lessons are an option.

Can a CBSE accountancy tutor help a Chandigarh student on the Punjab or Haryana board?

A CBSE accountancy tutor helps a Chandigarh tricity student on the Punjab or Haryana board only if they teach from that board's own textbook and past papers. PSEB and the Haryana board each set their own commerce syllabus and paper. Tell us the board, class and medium, so we look for a tutor who has worked with that board.

Which Class 12 accountancy option should a Chandigarh parent check with the school?

A Chandigarh parent should check whether CBSE Class 12 accountancy uses Financial Statement Analysis or Computerised Accounting for the last 20 theory marks. Partnership (36) and company accounts (24) are compulsory, and ISC has a similar fork between Section B and Section C. A tutor strong on ratios may never have taught spreadsheets, so name the option.

When should a Chandigarh commerce student start accountancy tuition?

Early in Class 11 is the easiest time for a Chandigarh commerce student to start accountancy tuition. In CBSE Class 11, 44 of the 80 theory marks sit in the unit from vouchers and the journal to the trial balance and rectification. A Class 12 student can still recover, but the tutor usually begins by repairing those basics.

How is the CBSE Class 12 accountancy project marked for Chandigarh students?

For Chandigarh students, the CBSE Class 12 accountancy project is an analysis of a company's financial statements, worth 12 marks for the file and 8 for the viva. A tutor can teach the tools and rehearse viva questions with the student. The analysis and the writing must remain the student's own work.

How is ISC Accounts marked for Chandigarh students?

For Chandigarh students, ISC Accounts (858) is an 80-mark paper with 20 compulsory short-answer marks followed by longer 12-mark questions, plus two 10-mark projects. Commerce (857) is a separate, descriptive subject. In Class 12, check whether the school teaches Section B, analysis and cash flow, or Section C, spreadsheets and database work.

Is accountancy tuition in Chandigarh better at home or online?

For Class 11 in Chandigarh, home accountancy tuition is often worth the travel, because a tutor beside the student spots a posting on the wrong side as it is written. Online works when the notebook is clearly visible and homework photos arrive first. For Computerised Accounting or ISC Section C, online is often easier, sharing one spreadsheet.

Can a Chandigarh accountancy tutor add CUET practice?

Often, a Chandigarh accountancy tutor can add CUET practice once the board chapters are secure. The NTA's 2026 bulletin lists Accountancy / Book Keeping (code 301) as a CUET (UG) domain subject with 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on NCERT Class 12 books. The tutor then shifts to spotting the right treatment fast; check each year's bulletin.
