Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior chemistry punishes gaps slowly. A shaky grasp of moles in Class 11 turns into lost electrochemistry marks a year later, and an old set of notes can send a student revising chapters the board no longer examines. A chemistry home tutor in the tricity should know where CBSE puts its marks, what NEET or JEE adds, and how to keep a lesson going around school and coaching in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula. NXTutors suggests two or three chemistry tutors matched to the course on your child's timetable and to your sector. Fees appear before any meeting, and the first class is a free demo.
Chemistry is the one senior science where CBSE fixes marks chapter by chapter. The theory paper (043) is out of 70, lasts three hours, and has 33 compulsory questions across Sections A to E, some with internal choice. Neither calculators nor log tables are allowed, and the 2026-27 sample paper follows last session's pattern. Here the ten chapters are ranked by marks:
| Marks | Chapter | Branch | Where the marks mostly come from |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | Electrochemistry | Physical | Numericals on cells and conductance |
| 8 | Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids | Organic | Conversions and named reactions |
| 7 | Solutions | Physical | Colligative-property numericals |
| 7 | Chemical Kinetics | Physical | Rate laws and graphs |
| 7 | The d- and f-Block Elements | Inorganic | Trends explained with reasons |
| 7 | Coordination Compounds | Inorganic | Naming, isomers and bonding |
| 7 | Biomolecules | Organic | Structures and precise definitions |
| 6 | Haloalkanes and Haloarenes | Organic | Mechanisms and reactivity order |
| 6 | Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers | Organic | Tests and conversions |
| 6 | Amines | Organic | Basicity and distinguishing tests |
Added up, organic chemistry holds 33 marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14, so organic conversions need attention every week from the start of the year. About 40% of the paper checks remembering and understanding; the rest asks for application, analysis or evaluation. Our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide goes chapter by chapter, and the Class 12 chemistry tutor page maps the year.
Two areas have left the 2026-27 Class 12 syllabus altogether: the solid state, and Groups 15 to 18 of the p-block. Four more remain in the syllabus but are assessed by the school only: polymers, chemistry in everyday life, surface chemistry, and the isolation of elements from their ores. These four still count towards internal marks, so they need teaching, just not board-revision time.
Entrance students should be more careful. NTA publishes its own NEET and JEE Main syllabi, and some material the board has dropped, including p-block chemistry, may still be examined there. Read the official list before discarding anything. Class 12 also rests on Class 11 foundations such as moles, equilibrium and the first organic chapters; the Class 11 chemistry tutor page covers that year.
NEET (UG) 2026 was one pen-and-paper exam of 180 questions for 720 marks, and chemistry was a quarter of it: 45 questions worth 180 marks. In JEE Main 2026, Paper 1 gave chemistry 25 of its 75 questions, 20 multiple-choice in Section A and 5 numerical-value in Section B. Both awarded +4 for a right answer and took away 1 for a wrong one. NTA confirms the pattern every year in its bulletin.
The two exams pull tuition in different directions. NEET rewards fast, exact recall of NCERT lines, especially in inorganic and organic chemistry. JEE rewards following mechanisms step by step and working multi-stage physical chemistry problems. In both cases, bring a chapter to board standard first and start its entrance questions the same week. For a Class 12 student with two home lessons a week, a fortnight might run like this:
| Lesson | Main focus | Written work before the next lesson |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The school's current organic chapter, taught through why each reaction happens | A conversion chain written from memory, then checked against NCERT |
| 2 | Physical chemistry numericals from solutions or electrochemistry | Three problems with units carried on every line |
| 3 | Inorganic trends in the d- and f-block or coordination compounds | Two "give reasons" answers in board style |
| 4 | One timed sample-paper section, marked against the official scheme | Corrections of every lost mark into the mistake notebook |
An entrance student swaps the board-style answers for timed multiple-choice questions on the same chapter. A student with three lessons a week can add a revision lesson that returns to the previous month's chapters, which is often where forgotten reactions resurface.
Titration (volumetric analysis) and salt analysis carry 8 marks each. A content-based experiment adds 6, the project 4, and the class record with the viva another 4. In 2026-27 the titration uses potassium permanganate against a standard solution of oxalic acid or ferrous ammonium sulphate (Mohr's salt), which the student weighs and prepares.
The reagents stay at school, yet much can be rehearsed at home: the molarity calculation for the weighed solution, a neat table of burette readings leading to the result, the sequence of preliminary and confirmatory tests in salt analysis and the reason for each, a project the student can defend alone, and viva questions such as why permanganate needs no separate indicator.
Chemistry at this level is written work, usually after school or coaching. With no metro running in the tricity, tutors arrive by car, scooter, bus or auto, and office-hour traffic sets the timing. Six places across the zones show the differences; see tutors by sector on our Chandigarh page.
Sector 9 is mostly independent houses, bungalows and government residences on wide streets near Jan Marg and Madhya Marg. A tutor rings at the house gate, though some government homes ask for a name at the entrance. Sector 27, on the eastern side, has houses and builder floors; share the floor and bell details. Its position suits tutors from Panchkula, Manimajra and the eastern sectors.
Sector 44 is split into sub-sectors 44-A, 44-C and 44-D, largely low-rise housing-board flats; give the sub-sector and block, as the numbering confuses first-time visitors. The Sector 43 bus terminal next door makes it easy to reach by bus. Mohali Phase 3B2 is mainly houses and villas with parking space, and few gated societies, so tutors go straight to the gate.
Aerocity, Mohali is a newer plotted township beside the airport, with fewer established tutors living inside, so many families take one from Mohali's phases, Zirakpur or Chandigarh, and use online lessons for a specialist. Panchkula Sector 21 mixes houses, plots and apartments, and lies between Panchkula and Zirakpur, so tutors from both towns can reach it.
In the pre-board months, if a route is unreliable, two home lessons and one online lesson a week keep the plan steady.
Specialists for ISC, IB and IGCSE are fewer than CBSE tutors, so ask early. If none can travel to you, pair an online specialist with a nearby tutor who checks written answers.
You do not need chemistry yourself. Once a month, open the notebook and check for:
If two of these are still missing at the half-yearly exam, raise it with the tutor or with us; we can arrange a demo with another tutor, and switching later costs nothing.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a rate, which usually climbs with the exam in view and the tutor's experience of it, and also reflects the evening trip within the tricity and the number of lessons a week. Online lessons with the same tutor may cost less. You see every fee before the demo.
Share the class, the chemistry course, the exam that matters most and the branch where marks slip, with your sector or phase and your free evenings. We send two or three matched chemistry tutors with their fees, and you choose one for the free demo. If no suitable tutor can reach you, we suggest online lessons or a mix. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; our national chemistry home tutor page describes matching in other cities.
Chemistry teachers living in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula can see open requests on the Chandigarh tuition jobs page.

For Chandigarh students, electrochemistry carries the most CBSE Class 12 chemistry marks, 9 of the 70, followed by aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids at 8. By branch, organic holds 33 marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14. Weekly organic conversions and physical numericals therefore cover the largest share of the paper.
A Chandigarh Class 12 student can set aside notes on the solid state and Groups 15 to 18 of the p-block, which have left the 2026-27 syllabus. Polymers, chemistry in everyday life, surface chemistry and isolation of elements stay but are assessed only by the school. NEET or JEE students should check NTA's own syllabus before dropping anything.
For Chandigarh aspirants, NEET 2026 gave chemistry 45 of its 180 questions, worth 180 of 720 marks, on paper. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 gave it 25 of 75 questions, 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value. Both used plus four and minus one marking; NEET rewards exact NCERT recall, JEE step-by-step mechanisms.
A Chandigarh student should rehearse the molarity calculation, burette-reading tables, salt-analysis test sequence and viva questions at home for the Class 12 chemistry practical. Titration and salt analysis carry 8 marks each, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4 and the record with viva 4. The 2026-27 titration uses permanganate against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt.
Yes, Chandigarh tricity families can ask for chemistry tutors who have taught from the Punjab or Haryana board's own textbooks. Each board posts its syllabus and exam notices on pseb.ac.in or bseh.org.in, and a tutor should plan from those rather than from CBSE material. Mention the board when you ask.
Yes, though fewer tutors live inside Aerocity near Chandigarh because it is a newer township. Most families take a tutor from Mohali's phases, Zirakpur or Chandigarh, and Airport Road is busy at office hours, so set an early evening slot. For IB or IGCSE chemistry, online lessons widen the choice.
A Chandigarh parent should open the chemistry notebook once a month and look for four signs. They are reaction conditions written in, units on every numerical line, one reaction map linking the organic families, and a sample-paper section marked against CBSE's scheme. If two of these are missing by the half-yearly exam, talk to the tutor or to us.
In the pre-board months, a Chandigarh Class 12 student whose tutor's route is unreliable can mix home and online chemistry lessons. Two home lessons and one online lesson a week keep the plan steady. If no ISC, IB or IGCSE specialist can travel, pair an online specialist with a nearby tutor who checks written answers.
