Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Vijayawada student on the state syllabus deals with two separate bodies. The SSC public examination at the end of Class 10 belongs to the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP), whose papers are set through the Directorate of Government Examinations. The two Intermediate years that follow, first year and second year, come under the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP). Each publishes its own model papers, blueprints and weightage tables, in English and Telugu versions, and those documents are the most useful thing a home tutor can bring to the table. This page summarises what the two boards' sites showed when we read them, explains how a tutor in Vijayawada should use that material, and lists what to ask at the demo. Patterns are revised from year to year, so confirm the current files on bse.ap.gov.in and bie.ap.gov.in before your child's examination year.
The secondary board's site is where Class 10 families will spend their time. Its notices carry the SSC public examination time tables, the Advanced Supplementary Examinations, held in May in recent years, for students who need another attempt, school-wise reverification and recounting, and the hall tickets and web memos. The same office conducts the OSSC and vocational SSC examinations, takes online applications from private candidates, issues migration certificates online and explains how to fetch certificates through DigiLocker. It also publishes the provisions for Children with Special Needs, including the circular on scribes; a parent of a child who qualifies should read those early, because the school applies on the student's behalf.
The Intermediate board works differently. Its portal is built for colleges and students together, and the parts that matter to a tutor are its Model Papers, Blueprints and Lab Manuals pages, each organised by academic year. Besides the general subjects it offers a long list of vocational courses, from medical laboratory work to computer graphics, each with its own first- and second-year papers. If your child is on a vocational course, tell us the course name; it narrows the search to tutors who know that syllabus.
The board's 2027 model papers split science into two separate papers, Physical Science and Biological Science, so a Class 10 student sits three papers for maths and science rather than two.
| Paper | Time and marks | Sections | Choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 100 marks; 3 hours 15 minutes, the first 15 for reading | 33 questions: 12 of one mark, 8 of two, 8 of four, 5 of eight | Only in Section IV |
| General Science Paper I, Physical Science | 50 marks; 2 hours including 15 minutes to read | 17 questions: 8 of one mark, 3 of two, 3 of four, 3 of eight | Question 12 and every Section IV question |
| General Science Paper II, Biological Science | 50 marks; 2 hours including 15 minutes to read | 17 questions: 6 of one mark, 4 of two, 5 of four, 2 of eight | Question 12 and every Section IV question |
Two things follow for tuition. In maths, 40 of the 100 marks sit in five eight-mark answers, and Section IV is the only place a student can choose, so the long problems need timed practice from the first term, not a final fortnight. In science, each half is a separate two-hour sitting worth 50 marks, and the eight-mark questions carry almost half of each paper. A student strong in chemistry but weak in biology cannot average the two out inside one paper. Ask whether one tutor will cover both halves, or whether the weaker half needs its own specialist. Our maths and science pages for Vijayawada go subject by subject.
Each model paper comes with a blueprint: a grid of chapters, question types and marks. The Physical Science one covers eight chapters, from chemical reactions and equations through acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, to light, the human eye, electricity and the magnetic effects of current. It also states what the paper is trying to test, in proportions a tutor can plan around:
The same blueprint estimates difficulty at 40% easy, 45% average and 15% difficult. That spread is a useful check on a tutor's worksheets. If every question your child practises is a routine textbook exercise, the 40% of marks for sensitivity and creativity are being left to chance. Ask the tutor to show you one practice question of each kind for the chapter your child is on.
Both boards publish their subject papers in an English version and a Telugu version, marked EM and TM. Language papers are listed separately: Telugu, Hindi, English, Sanskrit and Odia among them at SSC level, and Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu at Intermediate level.
Many Vijayawada children speak Telugu at home and write their papers in English, and some switch from one version to the other between schools. Tell us which version your child writes. A tutor can explain an idea in either language, but written practice should use the version and the technical terms of the actual paper. If the child is moving from Telugu-version study to English-version papers, the first few weeks should build a bilingual list of terms, chapter by chapter, and then let English take over. For the English paper itself, see our English home tutors in Vijayawada.
The Intermediate board's science papers share a four-section shape, with choice only in the longer answers.
| Paper | Time and marks | How the marks are made up |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 3 hours, 100 marks | 12 one-mark and 10 two-mark questions, all compulsory; any 7 four-mark answers; any 5 eight-mark answers |
| Physics Paper II | 3 hours, 85 marks | 9 one-mark and 14 two-mark questions; any 8 four-mark answers; any 2 eight-mark answers |
| Chemistry | 3 hours, 85 marks | The same four sections as physics |
| Biology | 3 hours, 85 marks | Two parts in one paper: Botany 42 marks, Zoology 43, each with short, four-mark and eight-mark questions |
| English | 3 hours, 100 marks | Section A on the prescribed texts: annotations, then short and long answers; further sections follow |
The physics blueprint lists fourteen chapters and the marks offered on each. Electrostatic potential and capacitance, moving charges and magnetism, ray optics, dual nature of radiation and matter, and nuclei each carry ten; electromagnetic waves carries three. A sensible revision order follows those numbers. The model papers do not set out practical marks, so ask your child's college how practical work is assessed and make sure the record book is kept up through the year. For subject tutors, see our physics, chemistry and biology pages for Vijayawada.
The board's 2025-26 blueprints still showed two second-year maths papers, Maths IIA and Maths IIB. The 2026-27 model paper, marked for IPE 2027, is a single Mathematics paper of 100 marks, and its blueprint lists thirteen topics: relations and functions, inverse trigonometric functions, matrices, determinants, continuity and differentiability, applications of derivatives, integrals, applications of integrals, differential equations, vector algebra, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability. The first-year paper, Mathematics I, already follows the single-paper shape.
For a family this has practical consequences. Older guidebooks and question banks written for IIA and IIB will not match the new paper's chapter list or section pattern. A student repeating a paper, or a younger sibling using an older sibling's notes, should check which scheme applies. And a tutor who taught the older papers for years should be able to tell you, in plain words, what has changed. If they cannot, they have not read the current files.
Andhra Pradesh has its own entrance route alongside the national ones. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, a statutory body of the state government, lists AP EAPCET, the Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, on its portal at cets.apsche.ap.gov.in, with admissions handled separately for the MPC and BiPC streams. Take its syllabus, pattern and dates only from that site.
National routes run in parallel: JEE for engineering and NEET for medicine, both conducted by the NTA. A tutor helping with an entrance test should keep the board papers in view, because the Intermediate written answers still have to be produced in full. See JEE home tutors in Vijayawada and NEET home tutors in Vijayawada.
| Stage | What the sessions concentrate on | Usual rhythm |
|---|---|---|
| Class 9 | Algebra and geometry foundations; science definitions and diagrams in the paper's version; the habit of full written answers | Two a week |
| Class 10 (SSC) | Blueprint-led planning; timed eight-mark answers; separate practice for Physical and Biological Science; full model papers from the second term | Two or three a week |
| First year | The jump in maths and physics; the new first-year papers; a revision log from the first month | One per core subject, often two |
| Second year | The single maths paper and the 85-mark science papers; chapter weights from the blueprints; record books kept current; entrance work alongside if planned | Two per core subject before the examinations |
If your child is deciding between the state board and CBSE or ICSE for Class 11, our guide to choosing a board and stream sets out the questions to ask, and the CBSE and ICSE pages for Vijayawada cover those boards.
A weekly tutor makes the same trip every week, so we start with tutors on your side of the city and widen from there. A few notes from the locality pages:
Every locality has its own page on the Vijayawada home tutors page, and our Vijayawada home tuition guide walks through all five zones.
For Class 9 and SSC students, a tutor at the table can watch a ray diagram, a balanced equation or a geometry proof being written and catch the slip before it becomes a habit. In the Intermediate years, when college hours run long and entrance preparation competes for the evening, one home session and one online session a week is often easier to keep. Online also helps when the right specialist for second-year maths or physics lives in the old city or at the far end of Bandar Road. Our online tutors for Vijayawada page explains how that works, and the home or online tutor comparison sets out the trade-offs.
We send two or three matched tutors and show each fee before the demo; the first class is free and switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified. The demo class checklist has more to look for.

The board's 2027 model paper is a 100-mark paper of three hours and fifteen minutes, the first fifteen for reading. It has 33 questions in four sections: twelve of one mark, eight of two, eight of four and five of eight. Internal choice appears only in the last section, so long answers need regular timed practice.
The board sets General Science as two 50-mark papers of two hours each: Paper I for Physical Science and Paper II for Biological Science. Each has 17 questions in four sections, with choice in one four-mark question and in the eight-mark answers. Marks in one paper cannot cover a weak showing in the other.
The 2025-26 blueprints showed two second-year papers, Maths IIA and IIB. The model paper marked for IPE 2027 is a single 100-mark Mathematics paper covering thirteen topics, from relations and functions to probability. Older guidebooks written for IIA and IIB may not match, so check which scheme applies before buying or reusing material.
Yes. Both boards publish papers in English and Telugu versions, so tell us which one your child writes. A tutor can explain in Telugu, English or both, but written practice should use the vocabulary of the actual paper. Students switching versions benefit from a bilingual list of technical terms built chapter by chapter.
The second-year model papers for IPE 2027 give physics and chemistry three hours and 85 marks each. Nine one-mark and fourteen two-mark questions are compulsory; students then answer any eight four-mark and any two eight-mark questions. The physics blueprint shows which of its fourteen chapters carry the most marks.
Some tutors do, alongside the Intermediate papers. AP EAPCET, the state's Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, is listed by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education on cets.apsche.ap.gov.in. Take its syllabus and dates only from that site, and ask at the demo how the tutor balances it with board answers.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. Class, subject and the number of sessions a week change the figure more than the board does.
