Science home tutor in Vijayawada for Classes 6 to 10: the book your child is given, a fixed after-school hour, and answers shaped for the examiner

Somewhere between Class 6 and Class 10, school science stops being a single subject of things to notice and becomes three subjects full of numericals, equations and labelled diagrams. In Vijayawada children make that journey on different tracks: the Andhra Pradesh board's SSC course, CBSE with its NCERT books, or ICSE with the texts each school picks. A good science tutor works from whichever book is on your child's desk, arrives at the same hour each week after school, and gets your child writing exam-shaped answers long before Class 10 arrives. NXTutors puts forward two or three science tutors suited to that track, lists every fee up front, and makes the first lesson a free demo.

What should parents expect from a science tutor in each class, 6 through 10?

Aaditya Kashyap is the author of the CBSE and ICSE sections on this page. The role of a tutor is not the same in every year, so it helps to know what to expect at each stage:

Classes 6 and 7
NCERT's Curiosity books, or the school's own text, are built on activities. The tutor's work is to turn each activity into one clear sentence and a neat, labelled sketch, and to replace everyday words with scientific ones.
Class 8
Physics, chemistry and biology start to separate, and the first numericals and word equations arrive. Watch for a unit after every number.
Class 9
The book gets steeper, with motion graphs, the nature of matter and the cell landing in the same year. Gaps left for a term are hard to close later.
Class 10
Every chapter is taught with the board paper and its marking in mind, and timed sections under exam conditions become routine.

Up to the board year, a single tutor covering physics, chemistry and biology is normally the sensible choice, because that one person can spot whether a wrong numerical comes from shaky arithmetic or a shaky idea. Our national science home tutor page sets out the approach, and the Class 8 science tutor page covers the middle years.

Your child studies science for the Andhra Pradesh SSC exam. What then?

The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh conducts the SSC public examination at the end of Class 10 and sets and revises its own syllabus and scheme. We do not describe its science papers here. The board's website, bse.ap.gov.in, posts model question papers, blueprints and weightage tables for the coming SSC examination, and those are the documents a tutor should plan the year around.

Three questions settle whether a tutor fits an SSC student. Can they teach in the medium your child answers in, Telugu or English, and help with the switch if your child is moving between them? Will practice come from the prescribed textbook and the board's own model papers? And will diagrams and equations get the same drill they would for any other board? A tutor who answers yes to all three suits an SSC child well.

Where do the 80 board marks sit in CBSE Class 10 science?

CBSE gives the written board paper three hours and 80 marks. The other 20 sit with the school, 5 apiece for periodic tests, for multiple assessment, for the portfolio and for practical work under subject enrichment. Of the 80, biology claims 30 while chemistry and physics take 25 each.

CBSE Class 10 science units with their board marks, and the weekly drill each one repays
UnitMarksChapters in itWeekly drill
Chemical Substances25Reactions and equations; acids, bases and salts; metals and non-metals; carbon compoundsBalancing and naming, a few every session
World of Living25Life processes; control and coordination; reproduction; heredityOne labelled diagram drawn from memory
Effects of Current13Electricity and its magnetic effectsCircuit numericals with units on each line
Natural Phenomena12Light, the human eye and the colourful worldRay diagrams with arrows on every ray
Our Environment5A single short chapterQuick revision so it is never skipped

CBSE also weights the paper by type of thinking: half the marks reward knowing and understanding, three-tenths reward applying an idea, and the last fifth asks the student to analyse or evaluate. For help on each chapter, open our Class 10 science notes; for a plan across the year, the Class 10 science tutor page.

What kinds of question make up the 39 in the paper?

The 2026-27 sample paper from CBSE sets 39 questions, and each block asks for a different technique:

  • Twenty one-mark questions, multiple-choice and assertion–reason: fast, exact recall, with the reason in an assertion item read twice.
  • Six two-mark answers: two separate points, not one point stretched.
  • Seven three-mark answers: three points, or a short working with the unit stated.
  • Three four-mark items built on a case or source: read the passage or data before looking at the sub-questions.
  • Three five-mark long answers: a diagram or equation plus four or five clean points.

Sample papers and marking schemes appear on cbseacademic before each exam season, and they remain the most reliable practice material.

Which topics are marked only in school, and how many board exams are there?

For 2026-27 the board will not ask about three areas, though schools still test them: how a motor works together with electromagnetic induction and generators, the chapter part on evolution, and the way the periodic table groups elements. Skipping them is a mistake, since school marks depend on them and Class 11 builds on them; they simply do not need a slot in the board-revision calendar. The curriculum also names 14 experiments that board questions draw upon, which makes the practical file part of revision rather than an afterthought.

Each Class 10 candidate writes one compulsory main exam, and an optional later sitting lets eligible students try to improve as many as three subjects, science being one of them. The 2027 dates are awaited on cbse.gov.in, so plan as though the main exam is the only one. The board-year planner lays out the months.

What changes in Class 9 science this session?

Class 9 now runs on Exploration, the new NCERT textbook named in CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum. Marks stay at 80 for the yearly paper plus 20 internal, shared out over four units. The heaviest is the unit on matter (27), followed by the living world (25), then motion, force, work and sound (23), with the Earth unit carrying only 5. A sibling's old notebook was written for the earlier book, so ask the tutor to work from the current chapters. Our Class 9 science tutor page has more.

Is ICSE science different for a tutor?

Quite a lot. In ICSE Class 10 there is no single science paper; Physics, Chemistry and Biology are three CISCE papers, and internal assessment is attached to each. Because every school picks its own books inside the CISCE syllabus, a tutor must teach from the ones your child carries and practise from CISCE specimen papers, not from an NCERT scheme. Marks there go to word-perfect definitions and numericals worked through to the unit. Some families want help with just one of the three papers, often from Class 9. Tutors with ICSE science experience are fewer, so ask early; online lessons widen the field.

How does your locality in Vijayawada shape the after-school slot?

A younger student's science hour normally falls after school and before the evening meal, so what counts is a tutor whose journey to you is short and the same every week. Six localities across three zones show what to arrange. Browse every locality on the Vijayawada home tuition page.

Around the railway junction

Gandhinagar is the headquarters of the Vijayawada Central mandal and sits beside Vijayawada Junction, so trains, city buses and autos all meet here and almost any tutor can reach it. Roads near the station crowd at train times and in the evening, so fix a class hour that avoids the rush and give a lane landmark. Suryaraopet next door mixes apartment buildings, houses and some open plots, with clinics close together on its main streets; say whether the home has a building gate or a doorstep.

Off Bandar Road and Benz Circle

Labbipet lies near MG Road, the one locals call Bandar Road, and most families live in two- and three-bedroom flats; pass the building name, flat number and the guard's phone number to the tutor. Patamata, merged into the municipal corporation in 1985, sits between Benz Circle and Auto Nagar, so through traffic passes it; a tutor from the same side of the junction keeps an after-school hour more easily.

The eastern colonies

Ramavarappadu is a census town brought into the metropolitan area in 2017, at the eastern end of the Inner Ring Road, with its own station on the loop line; a landmark near the ring helps on the first visit. Machavaram is mostly houses, villas and plots ringed by colonies, so a tutor from the same part of the city is often available; share the house number, as colony lanes look alike.

Which five habits should a science tutor drill until they are automatic?

Careful children gain marks on diagrams and equations, and hurried ones lose them there. Whatever the board, a tutor should come back to these week after week:

Five science habits a tutor should build, and the slip each one prevents
HabitWhat it looks likeThe slip it prevents
Ray diagramsArrows on every ray, virtual rays dotted, mirror or lens drawn to the right symbolFull marks lost for a missing arrowhead
Circuit diagramsStandard symbols; ammeter in series, voltmeter in parallelA correct answer drawn from a wrong circuit
Life-process diagramsHeart, digestive system and nephron with labels spelled rightLabels pointing at the wrong part
Balanced equationsState symbols added whenever a question asksAn unbalanced equation that costs the whole mark
Heredity crossesEvery step of the cross shown, not just the ratioA right ratio with no working to credit

At the free demo, ask the tutor to teach your child's current chapter and see whether these habits come up without prompting. The demo class checklist for parents suggests more to look for. If the first tutor does not suit, the next demo is with another tutor from your shortlist, and a later switch is free too.

We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

What should an AP SSC science tutor in Vijayawada plan the year around?

An AP SSC science tutor in Vijayawada should plan the year around the model papers, blueprints and weightage tables the Board of Secondary Education posts on bse.ap.gov.in. They should teach in Telugu or English as your child answers, practise from the prescribed textbook, and drill diagrams and equations.

What should a Vijayawada science tutor focus on from Class 6 to Class 10?

A Vijayawada science tutor should turn activities into clear sentences and labelled sketches in Classes 6 and 7, then insist on units with Class 8 numericals. Class 9 gaps should be closed quickly. In Class 10, every chapter is taught with the board paper and timed sections in mind.

In Vijayawada CBSE Class 10 science, does biology outweigh physics and chemistry?

Yes, for Vijayawada students biology carries 30 of the 80 CBSE Class 10 science board marks, against 25 each for chemistry and physics. By unit, Chemical Substances and World of Living carry 25 each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school awards 20 more.

How should a Vijayawada Class 10 student answer each question type in CBSE science?

A Vijayawada Class 10 student should give fast exact recall on the twenty one-markers, two separate points in two-mark answers and three in three-mark answers. Read the case passage before its sub-questions, and give five-mark answers a diagram or equation plus four or five clean points.

Which Class 10 science areas are school-marked only for Vijayawada CBSE students in 2026-27?

For Vijayawada CBSE students in 2026-27, the motor with electromagnetic induction and generators, evolution, and how the periodic table groups elements are school-marked only. Skipping them is a mistake, since school marks and Class 11 depend on them. The curriculum also names 14 experiments board questions draw upon.

Why should Vijayawada Class 9 students not use a sibling's old science notes?

Vijayawada Class 9 students should not use a sibling's old science notes because CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum runs on Exploration, NCERT's new textbook. The unit on matter carries 27 of 80 marks, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23 and the Earth unit 5.

Why must a Vijayawada ICSE science tutor teach from the school's own books?

A Vijayawada ICSE science tutor must teach from the school's own books because each school picks its texts within the CISCE syllabus. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are three CISCE papers with internal assessment attached to each, so practise from CISCE specimen papers too. ICSE science tutors are fewer, so ask early.

Which five science habits should a Vijayawada tutor drill until automatic?

A Vijayawada science tutor should drill arrows on every ray diagram, standard circuit symbols, correctly labelled life-process diagrams, balanced equations with state symbols, and every step of heredity crosses. At the free demo, see whether these habits come up without prompting while the tutor teaches your child's current chapter.

When should a Vijayawada family pick online science lessons over a home tutor?

A Vijayawada family should pick online or part-online science lessons when nobody suitable can reach them at the after-school hour, or when ICSE science experience is hard to find nearby. Otherwise a tutor with a short, unchanging journey suits younger students, since the hour falls before dinner.
