Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Vijayawada a Class 10 child may be writing the SSC public examination of the Andhra Pradesh board, a CBSE paper or an ICSE one, and two years later the same family may be juggling Intermediate maths with an engineering entrance. Each of those papers is marked by a different examiner with different habits, so a maths teacher who suits one family can be a poor fit for the next. Where you live matters too: the city runs from the old town by the Krishna out past Benz Circle to Ramavarappadu and Kanuru, and a teacher who lives on one side may struggle to keep an evening slot on the other. Tell NXTutors the course and the locality, and we send two or three maths tutors who fit both. Each fee is visible before you meet anyone, and the first class is a free demo.
The exam detail on this page comes from two named authors. Ajay Vatsyayan is responsible for the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths sections; Abhinandan Tiwary covers Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE. Our first question to any Vijayawada family is the name of the body that sets the paper, because that one fact decides the book on the desk, how a full-mark answer is laid out and which practice earns marks.
| Course | Examiner | Shape of the final assessment | Put this to the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC, Class 10, Andhra Pradesh | Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) | Set by the board; it posts model papers, blueprints and weightage tables on bse.ap.gov.in | Have you worked through this year's model paper and blueprint? |
| Intermediate, the two years after SSC | Board of Intermediate Education, AP (BIEAP) | Set by the board; confirm the current scheme on bie.ap.gov.in | How will you balance the board paper with an entrance exam? |
| CBSE Class 10, Standard or Basic | CBSE | Board paper for 80, school assessment for 20 | Which of the two levels fits my child, and on what evidence? |
| CBSE Class 12 | CBSE | 38 questions, none optional, for 80; 20 internal | When in the year does calculus start, and how often? |
| ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE | CISCE; IB; Cambridge | Written papers plus internal, project or exploration work | Which exam year or tier have you taught most recently? |
Two state bodies matter here. The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh conducts the SSC public examination at the end of Class 10, and the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh runs the Intermediate course that follows. Both set and revise their own schemes, so this page does not describe their papers. The secondary board's website publishes model question papers, blueprints and weightage tables for the coming SSC examination, and those documents, together with the textbook the school issues, are what a tutor should plan from.
The board paper draws on 14 NCERT chapters arranged in seven units, and its design is unchanged from last session. A tutor who plans the year by marks rather than by page numbers will spend it roughly like this:
| Unit | Board marks | Habit to build |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra (polynomials, linear pairs, quadratics, progressions) | 20 | Turning a word problem into an equation before solving anything |
| Geometry (triangles, circles) | 15 | Justifying each line of a proof, not only the last one |
| Trigonometry with heights and distances | 12 | Sketching the figure first, then choosing the ratio |
| Statistics and probability | 11 | Checking each column of a grouped table before the final step |
| Mensuration | 10 | Writing units at every line when solids are joined |
| Real numbers; coordinate geometry | 6 each | Treating short questions as marks to bank, not to hurry |
The question paper runs in five lettered sections. Section A holds twenty one-mark items (eighteen multiple-choice and two assertion–reason); B has five two-mark questions; C six of three marks; D four long answers of five; and E three case-study questions of four. Calculators are not allowed, and π is taken as 22/7 unless stated. Standard and Basic examine the same chapters, but about 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding against about 75% in Basic, so Standard is the safer choice for any child who may take maths in Class 11. The school sets the deadline for choosing.
Since 2026, Class 10 students sit one compulsory main examination and may take an optional second one to improve as many as three subjects, maths included. The 2027 dates have not been announced; cbse.gov.in will carry them. For chapter-by-chapter help, see the Class 10 maths preparation guide and the planner for the board year; our Class 10 maths tutor page explains how we match for that year.
After Class 10, many Vijayawada students follow a long day of lectures and entrance practice, whether on the Intermediate course or on CBSE. A home tutor who repeats those lectures adds little. The more useful job is to clear the problems left unfinished from the week's sheets, check written working, and stop the board paper from sliding while entrance work takes over.
The two kinds of paper pull in different directions. CBSE Class 12 maths asks 38 questions, all compulsory, for 80 marks, and calculus alone is worth 35 of them, so it needs the largest share of every week from the first term. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 carried 75 questions for 300 marks; 25 were maths, twenty with options and five with a numerical answer, and each right answer earned +4 while a wrong one cost 1. NTA confirms the pattern each year on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Intermediate students should take the board's scheme from bie.ap.gov.in, and anyone also sitting the state's engineering entrance should take its details only from that exam's official site.
A week that works for many students has one session spent on the hardest entrance problems and one on board answers written out in full. Read the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and the topic-wise JEE maths plan, or see the Class 12 maths tutor page.
Teachers for these courses are fewer than for the state board or CBSE, so name the course in your first message. If no specialist can travel to you, an online one can teach while a local tutor checks the written work.
Most tutors here move around by two-wheeler, auto or city bus; a metro is planned for the city but nothing is running yet. MG Road, which most people call Bandar Road, and Eluru Road are the two main arteries, and a tutor who lives along the same one as you is the one most likely to arrive on time. Compare tutors locality by locality on the Vijayawada home tuition page.
| Locality | Typical homes | Getting there | Fix in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Governorpet | Family homes in the lanes behind shop and showroom frontage | City bus or auto from most parts of the city; the Governorpet bus station and Vijayawada Junction are close | An evening slot after the markets quieten, and a lane landmark |
| Labbipet | Mainly two- and three-bedroom flats, with some houses and villas | Direct by bus, auto or two-wheeler along Bandar Road | Building name, flat number and the guard's phone number |
| Moghalrajpuram | Apartments for the most part, with some builder floors beside older streets | From Suryaraopet, Labbipet or the Benz Circle side; Ramavarappadu is the nearer station on the loop line | A temple or cave landmark for houses near the hills |
| Benz Circle | Low-rise and mid-rise flats around the city's busiest junction | Madhura Nagar or Ramavarappadu stations, or by road under the flyover | A tutor on your side of the junction, or a slot outside office hours |
| Currency Nagar | Builder floors, houses and apartment buildings in a residential colony | From the centre or from the Kanuru and Ramavarappadu side | A class time clear of the evening peak towards the Ramavarappadu ring |
| Gunadala | Traditional houses with newer apartment buildings | Along Eluru Road; Gunadala station is on the main line | Online sessions during the hill shrine's February festival |
The zone guides for Central Vijayawada, Benz Circle and Patamata and Eluru Road and the north go into more local detail.
Two sessions a week suit most students from Class 8 up; younger children often do better with three shorter ones. However the week is split, three things should happen in it:
Homework should be short enough to finish and checked at the start of the next session. A notebook of mistakes, sorted by type, does more for marks than a pile of finished worksheets.
Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is on at school, not a prepared favourite, and watch for these:
If the match is not right, tell us and the next tutor on your shortlist gives a demo instead. Changing tutor later is free as well. The demo class checklist for parents lists more to look for, and the home or online tutor article helps if travel across the city is the sticking point.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor fixes their own rate. It moves with the course and class, the tutor's experience of that paper, the journey to your locality at the hour you want, and how many sessions you book each week. You see each shortlisted fee before the demo.
Send us the class, the course by its full name (AP board SSC, Intermediate, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE), your locality with a landmark, the days and times you can offer, and a budget. We reply with two or three matched maths tutors, fees shown, and you choose one for the free demo. If nobody suitable can reach your part of Vijayawada at that time, we suggest an online or mixed plan. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national maths home tutor page shows how we work elsewhere. For the other sciences, see our physics and science tutor pages for the city, and for entrance preparation the JEE home tutor in Vijayawada page.

Yes. We look for tutors who teach from the textbook your child's school issues, in the medium your child writes in, and who plan from the model papers, blueprints and weightage tables that the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh posts on bse.ap.gov.in. Confirm any rule there.
We match across Central Vijayawada, Benz Circle and Patamata, Eluru Road and the north, One Town and the west, and the Kanuru and Poranki side. Nearby tutors are offered first, then others from your zone and the wider city. If nobody suitable can come at your hour, we suggest online lessons.
Algebra, worth 20 of the 80 board marks. Geometry follows on 15, trigonometry on 12, statistics and probability on 11 and mensuration on 10, with real numbers and coordinate geometry at 6 apiece. The 2026-27 design matches last session's, so recent CBSE sample papers suit timed practice.
Standard, if there is any chance of maths in Class 11. Both levels cover the same 14 chapters for 80 marks, but Basic puts roughly three-quarters of its marks on remembering and understanding, whereas Standard asks for far more application. Schools fix the choice at registration, so ask the deadline early.
Usually, if the tutor does a different job. Lectures move fast; a home tutor can clear the problems left unsolved from the week's sheets and keep the board paper on track. In CBSE Class 12 maths calculus carries 35 of 80 marks, and every answer needs written working an examiner can follow.
For the 2027 and 2028 exams, CISCE sets one 80-mark paper in seven units that every candidate answers, so the old choice between Sections B and C has gone. Calculus is worth 35 marks, and two projects add 20, each marked on format, content, findings and viva. Older revision books need checking.
Sometimes, but check at the demo. IB Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation differ in calculator use and in style, while IGCSE Core caps the grade at C and Extended runs to A*. Specialists are fewer in Vijayawada, so an online tutor may be the better fit for one course.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
