Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior biology asks a Vijayawada student to be two kinds of candidate at once. The board paper, whether Intermediate, CBSE or ISC, wants full written answers with neat, labelled diagrams; NEET wants the right option picked quickly from four, with a mark lost for every wrong guess. Add a move from Telugu-medium study to English technical terms, and a student who genuinely understands a chapter can still drop marks on both fronts. Tell NXTutors the course, the class, your NEET plans and where you live; we reply with a shortlist of two or three biology tutors and their fees, and your first lesson with the one you pick costs nothing.
| Course or exam | What it looks like | Tutor's focus |
|---|---|---|
| Intermediate (BIEAP) | Biology in the two-year course of the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh | The prescribed textbooks and the board's own question papers |
| CBSE (044) | Each year, a three-hour theory paper for 70 and 30 marks of practical work | NCERT depth, case-based questions, a complete practical record |
| ISC (863) | In Class 12, 70 for theory, 15 practical, 10 project and 5 for the practical file | Detailed diagrams and precise terms |
| NEET (UG) | Biology is 90 of the 180 questions, set by NTA | Exact recall under negative marking |
| IB; Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE | Biology SL or HL; IGCSE 0610 or 4BI1 in Grades 9 and 10 | Data analysis, practical skills and, for the IB, the investigation |
Below Class 11, biology sits inside science; for those years start with our science home tutor in Vijayawada page.
The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh runs the two Intermediate years and sets its own biology syllabus and papers, which it revises from time to time. We describe them only in general terms and send families to bie.ap.gov.in for the current scheme. In practice, look for a tutor who teaches from the prescribed books, has worked through the board's recent papers, and can keep long written answers and diagrams sharp while NEET practice takes up much of the week.
Each year's theory paper is out of 70. CBSE's 2026-27 unit weights work as a ready-made timetable:
Two Class 11 units, Human Physiology and Cell, come round again in NEET and in the Class 12 revision season, which makes a quick re-run of both in the last weeks of Class 11 worth scheduling. The practical side is worth 30 in each year, earned through experiments, spotting, the record and a project with its viva; a student who writes up the record as the year goes along collects these marks with little stress.
No school science brings in more new words than biology, and a student who has changed medium meets each of them twice. A tutor who handles vocabulary well tends to follow a routine like this:
| Step | What happens | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Say it, explain it, place it | Each new term is spoken, explained in Telugu where needed, and written onto a labelled diagram | The word is tied to a picture, not just a translation |
| Roots and endings | Common prefixes and suffixes taught as a set | Unfamiliar terms can be worked out rather than memorised one by one |
| A two-column word list | Each English word paired with a definition the student writes in their own words; the tutor quizzes it orally once a week | Recall is checked, not assumed |
| Answers stay in English | Discussion may use Telugu; every written answer is in English from the start | The exam language becomes the writing habit |
Half the paper. In the 2026 NEET (UG) bulletin there were 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions, and biology supplied 90 of them, shared between botany and zoology, with physics and chemistry at 45 apiece; the total was 720 marks. Four marks came with each correct answer and one went with each incorrect one, and when candidates tied, biology was the first score compared. Every year NTA confirms the format, with the syllabus notified by the National Medical Commission; no 2027 bulletin had appeared when this page was written, so keep an eye on neet.nta.nic.in. What this means for lessons: NCERT read line by line (its diagrams and tables included), timed sets of objective questions, and a log of every error made in every mock. More on our NEET home tutor page, the NEET home tutor in Vijayawada page and the NCERT-first guide to NEET biology.
Many senior students in the city already sit through long days of lectures and weekly tests. A home tutor should not repeat them. The job is to fill what a large class leaves out:
Fix the home slot so it never clashes with the lecture timetable. Our article on coaching, a home tutor or both for NEET sets out the choices.
No two school calendars match, so treat the outline below as a sequence to adapt. It is written for a student who sits a board paper and NEET in the same spring:
| When | For the board | For NEET |
|---|---|---|
| First term | Genetics and the reproduction chapters, with a long written answer set every week | A short objective test as each chapter closes |
| Second term | Human welfare, biotechnology and ecology; the practical record brought up to date | Class 11 physiology and the cell unit revisited in small rounds |
| Run-up to pre-boards | Whole papers in exam time, marked strictly against the scheme | A full mock every other week, each one logged for errors |
| Once the boards end | Nothing further | Both years revised from NCERT, with a weekly mock |
Intermediate and ISC students can use the same sequence with their own board's papers in place of CBSE's. The one rule is that neither exam is parked while the other is prepared.
A metro is planned but not yet running, so tutors move by two-wheeler, auto, city bus or the suburban stations. The Vijayawada home tuition page lists every locality.
Gandhinagar, beside Vijayawada Junction, is among the easiest places in the city to reach by train, bus or auto; avoid the station rush and share a lane landmark. Labbipet sits close to Bandar Road, mostly in apartment buildings, so give the guard the tutor's name and pick a weekday slot before the evening shopping traffic.
Suryaraopet mixes apartments, houses and open plots and draws easily on tutors from neighbouring central localities; check whether there is a building gate. Benz Circle, where the two national highways meet under a flyover, is easiest with a tutor who already lives on the same side of the junction.
Ramavarappadu has its own station on the loop line, and the Inner Ring Road brings tutors from the west without crossing the centre. Machavaram, mostly houses and villas among many colonies, usually has a tutor within the same part of the city; give the house number and a landmark.
Online lessons suit senior biology better than many families expect, since a diagram can be sketched on a tablet or shown to the webcam and a mock test can be reviewed on a shared screen. A tutor in the room is still the better choice for a student who drifts without someone beside them, or when the parent wants the practical file looked at page by page. If the ISC, IB or NEET specialist you want is on the other side of the city, mixing a weekly visit with a weekly video lesson is a common answer. The Eluru Road and north zone guide gives more local detail.
Watch for five things in the free lesson. The tutor should ask questions before explaining, to find the level. Your child should draw and label at least one structure. New terms should be made clear (in Telugu if that helps) and then written down in English. The tutor should be able to say how your child's board sets its paper and what NEET does differently. And you should come away with a plan that includes revising old chapters, not only racing through new ones. If something is missing, the next shortlisted tutor gives a demo, and a later change of tutor is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Biology for Classes 11 and 12, and for NEET, usually sits toward that higher part of the range. The tutor fixes the fee, and it is on your shortlist before any demo is booked.
A request that gets a good match lists the class and board, NEET or no NEET, the chapters that worry your child, Telugu or English as the easier language, your locality, the free evenings and a budget. Back come two or three biology tutors with fees attached; every tutor joining NXTutors passes an ID check first. For the other sciences, see the physics and chemistry tutor pages for Vijayawada; for IGCSE and IB detail, read the national biology home tutor guide, and the Vijayawada home tuition fees article explains what moves a tutor's rate. Biology teachers in the city can find open requests on Vijayawada tuition jobs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Senior and NEET biology tutors usually sit in that upper part, with each fee shown before the demo.
Yes. We look for tutors who teach from the Intermediate textbooks prescribed by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, know its recent papers, and can teach in Telugu, English or both. We keep our notes on the board's paper general, so check the current scheme on bie.ap.gov.in.
Yes. Under the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, biology made up 90 of the 180 questions, split between botany and zoology, in a paper worth 720 marks. A right answer earned four marks and a wrong one lost one, and biology scores were used first to break ties. NTA confirms the pattern yearly.
Not with the right routine. Each new word is explained, in Telugu if needed, and placed on a diagram; common roots and endings are taught as a set; a word list is quizzed aloud weekly; and every written answer is in English, whatever language the discussion uses.
In the 2026-27 curriculum, Human Physiology leads Class 11 with 18 of the 70 theory marks, and Genetics and Evolution leads Class 12 with 20. Physiology comes back in NEET and in Class 12 revision, while genetics only settles with problems every week, so plan extra time for both.
Yes, if the tutor fills gaps rather than repeating lectures: the week's hardest chapter explained again, long board answers set and marked, and every mock test sorted into knowledge gaps, misreads and guesses. Fix the home slot so it never clashes with the lecture timetable or weekly tests.
We match across Central Vijayawada, Benz Circle and Patamata, Eluru Road and the north, One Town and the west, and the Kanuru and Poranki side. The nearest suitable tutors come first, then others in your zone and the city. Where travel does not work, we suggest online lessons or a mix.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
