Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

CISCE schools are one strand of Vijayawada's school system, alongside the Andhra Pradesh boards and CBSE, and a family looking for help may have to choose between a nearby tutor who mainly teaches other boards and a specialist further away or online. This page explains what the CISCE regulations ask of a student, where ICSE differs from the state SSC papers, how a tutor should pace a broad syllabus, what to weigh at the Class 11 decision, and how to test a tutor at the demo.
| Group | Subjects | Split between final paper and school assessment |
|---|---|---|
| I (all students) | English; one second language; History and Civics with Geography | Final paper 80, school 20 |
| II (choose two or three) | Options include Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science and a modern foreign or classical language | Final paper 80, school 20 |
| III (choose one) | Applied options such as Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art, Physical Education, Robotics and AI | Final paper 50, school 50 |
Half of the Group III mark is earned during the year, so that subject repays steady work from the first term and punishes a last-month rush. A tutor can plan, prompt and review the projects, but every page submitted has to be the student's own writing.
Mathematics is examined in a single paper of three hours worth 80 marks. The other 20 come from at least two assignments during the year, and each assignment is assessed twice, once by the subject teacher and once by an external examiner. The paper mixes commercial mathematics, such as banking and shares, with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and examiners expect the working to be shown in full.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology are three separate papers, each of two hours and 80 marks, and each subject adds 20 marks for practical work assessed internally. With three sittings, a strong chemistry result cannot rescue weak biology. CISCE also releases an Analysis of Pupil Performance subject by subject after every examination season, listing where candidates commonly lost marks; a tutor who reads it alongside the specimen paper knows which errors to drill.
| Point | ICSE | AP SSC (2027 model papers on bse.ap.gov.in) |
|---|---|---|
| Science papers | Three: physics, chemistry, biology, 80 marks each | Two: Physical Science and Biological Science, 50 marks each |
| Maths paper | 80 marks in 3 hours, plus 20 internal | 100 marks in 3 hours 15 minutes |
| School-assessed work | 20 marks per subject in Group II; half the marks in Group III | Not shown in the model papers; ask the school |
| Where to read the rules | cisce.org: regulations, specimen papers, Analysis of Pupil Performance | bse.ap.gov.in: model papers, blueprints and weightage tables |
A tutor used to state-board students will need to plan for three separate science papers and the internal component in every Group II subject. Ask directly which ICSE papers they have prepared students for.
Most ICSE students struggle less with hard questions than with sheer coverage. Chapters taught in June are faint by February unless they come back on a schedule, so plan the year as three passes:
Literature texts belong in the same cycle: read in full, never from summaries, and revisited with timed answers on character and theme. For the maths topics in detail, our ICSE and ISC maths guide, written for another city, still applies.
| Rule | Planning point |
|---|---|
| English plus three to five electives; six subjects at most | Choose electives with the entrance plan and the workload in mind |
| No change of subject after 15 September in the Class 11 registration year; a Class 12 subject must have been taken in Class 11 | A wrong choice cannot be undone in the second term, so decide in the first weeks |
| Promotion to Class 12 requires 35% in four subjects, English among them, and 75% attendance | Class 11 is not a gap year before the board; the school year counts |
| Practical examinations compulsory where a subject has them; Physics and Engineering Science cannot be taken together | Keep the practical file current from the start |
| Grades from 1 to 9; a pass certificate needs four subjects with English, plus Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service | The non-examined components still have to be completed |
In ISC Mathematics, both years carry a three-hour theory paper of 80 marks and a project worth 20; our ISC maths tutor page goes further. Ajay Vatsyayan, one of the authors named on this page, teaches IB, IGCSE and ISC maths.
ICSE puts English and a second language in the compulsory group, and ISC keeps English compulsory to the end. Students who read and write comfortably in English still lose marks on set-text answers that retell the story instead of answering the question, and on compositions written without a plan. A useful weekly routine is one timed literature answer and one piece of writing, each marked against the specimen paper's demands, with the tutor's comments copied into a single notebook so patterns are easy to see. If the second language is the weak paper, ask for a tutor who teaches that language at ICSE level rather than general conversation. Our English home tutors in Vijayawada page covers the English papers in more detail.
At the end of Class 10 a Vijayawada ICSE student faces a real choice: continue to ISC, or move to the Intermediate years under the Andhra Pradesh board, or to CBSE. Each path changes what a tutor must do.
Whichever route, read the eligibility rules for JEE, NEET or AP EAPCET on each body's own site before deciding. Our guide to choosing a board and stream helps with the decision.
| Classes | Main risk | Tutor's response |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | Long English answers and the second language fall behind | Regular writing, read aloud and corrected; arithmetic kept quick |
| 9 | Group II and III choices made casually | Discuss choices with the school calendar in view; start the rounds habit |
| 10 | Early chapters forgotten; Group III work left late | Three revision rounds; projects checked monthly |
| 11 (ISC) | Electives locked after 15 September; the jump in maths and physics | Specialist tutors from the start of term |
| 12 (ISC) | Board and entrance preparation competing for the same weeks | One combined plan, with practicals and projects finished early |
The most suitable tutor may live a zone away from you. These notes help:
Every locality is on the Vijayawada home tutors page.
For Class 9 and 10 maths and the three sciences, home sessions make sense when a capable ICSE tutor lives within reach: long answers and diagrams are easier to correct in person. When the right specialist is across the city, or for an ISC elective with few local tutors, online is the practical choice, and a mix of one home visit and one online session a week often works. See online tutors for Vijayawada, and the Vijayawada maths, physics, chemistry and biology pages.
The demo class checklist has more. For a detailed view of the board, see our ICSE board guide, written for another city.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, shown before the demo. See the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Vijayawada.
Send the class, subjects (with the Group III subject or ISC electives), your locality with a landmark and the free slots. We reply with two or three matched tutors and the first class is a free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Vijayawada ICSE tutor sets their own fee, shown before the free demo. A specialist travelling from another zone may build the trip into the fee.
A Vijayawada family should send the class, subjects including the Group III subject or ISC electives, locality with a landmark and free slots to find an ICSE or ISC tutor. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check.
For a Vijayawada child, ICSE suits families who value long English answers and a broad syllabus with internal work in every subject. CBSE and the Andhra Pradesh boards examine differently; see our CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE guide, and our guide to choosing a board and stream.
The Group III ICSE subject needs work from the first term in Vijayawada because half its marks are earned in school during the year. Group I and II subjects carry only 20% internal. A tutor can plan, prompt and review the projects, but every submitted page must be the student's own writing.
For Vijayawada students, ICSE sets three separate 80-mark science papers with internal practical marks, while the AP SSC 2027 model papers set two 50-mark science papers. ICSE maths is 80 marks in three hours plus 20 internal; the SSC maths paper is 100 marks in 3 hours 15 minutes.
A Vijayawada ICSE tutor should read CISCE's Analysis of Pupil Performance because it lists, subject by subject after each exam season, where candidates commonly lost marks. Read alongside the specimen paper, it shows which errors to drill. Ask the tutor to show you one point from it at the demo.
An ICSE tutor in Vijayawada should pace the syllabus in three passes, since coverage, not hard questions, is what most students struggle with. Each chapter is tested a week after school teaches it, revisited in timed answers before the mid-year break, then met again in specimen papers. Literature texts belong in the same cycle, read in full, never from summaries.
For a Vijayawada Class 11 student, ISC subjects lock after 15 September of the registration year, and a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. English is compulsory with three to five electives. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance.
A Vijayawada ICSE student choosing Intermediate meets second-year IPE 2027 model papers with physics and chemistry at 85 marks and one 100-mark maths paper. CBSE senior sciences are 70 plus 30 with practicals, while ISC keeps the familiar style. Read JEE, NEET or AP EAPCET eligibility before deciding.
An ICSE tutor can reach One Town or Kanuru homes in Vijayawada with sensible timing. One Town's market lanes are crowded through the day, so fix a slot after the rush. Kanuru is reached along Bandar Road, with the canal road as an evening alternative, and gated projects check visitors.
ICSE lessons in Vijayawada should be online when the right specialist lives across the city or for an ISC elective with few local tutors. For Class 9 and 10 maths and the three sciences, home sessions suit when a capable tutor is within reach. One home and one online session weekly often works.
