Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Vijayawada, CBSE schools sit alongside the Andhra Pradesh boards, CISCE schools and a smaller number of IB and IGCSE students. That mix matters for tuition in two ways. First, a tutor who has taught mostly on the state syllabus has to adjust, because a CBSE paper rewards different habits: competency questions, case passages and a fixed 80 + 20 split. Second, some families switch: from a state-board school into CBSE for Class 11, or the other way round for the Intermediate years. This page sets out what CBSE asks for at each stage under the 2026-27 curriculum, where it differs from the state papers, how a tutor should fit board work around an entrance plan, and how to judge a tutor at the demo.
| Point | CBSE (2026-27 curriculum) | Andhra Pradesh boards (current model papers) |
|---|---|---|
| Class 10 science | One science paper; 80 marks in the exam, 20 internal | Two separate 50-mark papers, Physical Science and Biological Science |
| Class 10 maths | 80 + 20 | One 100-mark paper of 3 hours 15 minutes |
| Question style | About half of each secondary paper competency-based: cases, sources, data and applications | Blueprints that set aims for awareness, sensitivity and creativity alongside content |
| Class 12 physics, chemistry, biology | 70 theory + 30 practical | 85-mark theory papers in the second year |
| Class 12 maths | Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, one of the two; 80 + 20 | One 100-mark Mathematics paper from IPE 2027 |
The practical upshot: a tutor who has taught mainly state-board students should show you that they know the CBSE internal component, the competency-based share of the paper and the current sample paper. The reverse holds for a CBSE specialist teaching a state-board child; see our AP Board SSC and Intermediate tutors page for that side.
In Class 9, every student sits a common maths paper and a common science paper. A student may also take an Advanced paper in one, both or neither of those subjects: 25 marks, one hour, entirely higher-order questions on additional content. Advanced marks stay out of the aggregate, and a score of 50% or more is recorded on the marksheet. The Basic and Standard split in maths is being phased out; the 2026-27 Class 10 batch is the last to finish under it. Choose Advanced only where your child is already comfortable in the subject.
Class 10 now has two board examinations. Everyone sits the first. A student who passes may return for the second to improve up to three of science, maths, social science and the languages. Treat the first as the real examination; the second is a safety net, not a plan. A third language is also compulsory in these years and is assessed by the school without a board paper. For subject plans, see our Class 10 maths preparation guide and Class 10 science notes, and the Class 10 maths tutor page.
The Class 12 board paper covers the Class 12 syllabus, and the design of each year's paper arrives with the sample paper, so a tutor should be working from the current one, not last year's. Our guides to Class 12 physics, organic and inorganic chemistry and calculus and algebra help in the board year, as does the Class 12 maths tutor page.
A switch is easiest to manage at the start of Class 11. A few points make it smoother:
Our guide to choosing a board and stream covers the decision itself.
| Classes | What matters most | What the tutor does |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | Arithmetic fluency, reading comprehension, the first algebra | Short daily practice, reading aloud, neat working; no rush into entrance foundation work |
| 9 | The common papers, and the choice of Advanced papers | Secure the common paper first; add Advanced practice only where the student is strong |
| 10 | The first board examination and the 20 internal marks | Sample papers under timing, competency questions every week, internal work finished early |
| 11 | The jump in physics and maths; practical files begin | A specialist for each hard subject from the start; an error log from month one |
| 12 | 70 + 30 sciences, 80 + 20 maths and commerce, the board paper and often an entrance test | One revision plan for both, with full written answers scheduled before the board |
A CBSE student in Class 11 or 12 aiming at engineering or medicine faces the NTA's JEE or NEET, and possibly AP EAPCET, the state's Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test listed on cets.apsche.ap.gov.in. NCERT content serves the board and the national tests together, which is CBSE's advantage. The trap is writing: months of objective practice leave a student short on complete, step-by-step board answers. Ask the tutor to keep one written board answer in every week, and to switch fully to board papers in the weeks before the examination. See JEE and NEET home tutors in Vijayawada.
| Locality | Homes and access | What to send before the demo |
|---|---|---|
| Satyanarayanapuram | Mainly flats in apartment buildings, between the centre and the northern colonies | Tutor's name and flat number for the guard |
| Ajit Singh Nagar | Mostly independent houses; narrow lanes suit a two-wheeler | House number and a nearby landmark |
| Vidyadharapuram | Apartments, villas and plots near the Kanaka Durga temple | Building and flat number; an online plan for Navaratri week |
| Gollapudi | Apartments, houses and plots on the Hyderabad road | A slot that avoids office-hour highway traffic |
| Tadigadapa | Villas and larger flats in gated projects | Registration with security and a request for a regular pass |
| Poranki | Apartments, houses, villas and plots along Bandar Road | Whether the canal road is the easier way in |
The five zone pages, Central Vijayawada, Benz Circle and Patamata, Eluru Road and the north, One Town and the west and Kanuru and Poranki, list every locality, and the Vijayawada home tutors page brings them together.
You do not need to know the syllabus to see whether CBSE tuition is on track. Once a month, open the notebook and look for four things: dated work from every session; at least one competency-style question practised each week, with a case, data or a real situation in it; written answers that show full steps rather than just results; and, for Classes 9 to 12, a note on where the internal or practical work stands. Then ask your child one question: which chapter feels weakest now? If the answer has not changed in two months, raise it with the tutor. If the tutor cannot say what the plan is for that chapter, ask us for the next match.
Up to Class 8, and for Class 9 and 10 maths and science, a tutor at the table is usually worth the travel: the working is on paper and the errors are in the steps. In Classes 11 and 12, a blend often holds better, with home sessions for physics and maths and online sessions for chemistry recall, sample-paper reviews and late-evening doubts. If the right specialist for a narrow subject lives at the other end of Bandar Road, online is the sensible answer; see online tutors for Vijayawada. Subject by subject, the Vijayawada maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English pages go deeper.

CBSE sets one science paper with 80 marks in the examination and 20 internal. The Andhra Pradesh SSC model papers split science into two separate 50-mark papers, Physical Science and Biological Science. A tutor moving between the two should plan the internal component and the competency questions for CBSE, and two separate sittings for the state papers.
Every Class 10 student sits the first examination. A student who passes may take the second to improve marks in up to three of science, maths, social science and the languages. Prepare for the first as the main examination; the second is a chance to improve, not a reason to ease off.
Only where the subject already feels comfortable. The Advanced papers in maths and science are optional, carry 25 marks in an hour and consist entirely of higher-order questions on extra content. Their marks sit outside the aggregate, and 50% or more is recorded on the marksheet. Secure the common paper first.
Physics, chemistry and biology give 70 marks to the theory paper and 30 to practical work. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, taken as one or the other, splits 80 theory and 20 internal, as do accountancy, economics and business studies. Practical files and viva preparation deserve steady attention through the year.
Yes, and a tutor can make the first term much easier. A student from the SSC papers is used to separate science papers and long answers with choice; CBSE senior papers add practical marks and competency-based questions. A child moving from Telugu-version study should build English technical terms early.
