Home Tuition in Central and South Lucknow: A Locality Guide

Home Tuition in Central and South Lucknow: A Locality Guide

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

South of the Gomti, a home tutor's week in Lucknow can take in three very different settings. In the centre, flats sit above the shops of Hazratganj, Lalbagh and Aminabad, and the lanes of Chowk are too narrow for most cars. Along Kanpur Road, Alambagh, Ashiyana and the LDA Colony are mostly independent houses in lettered sectors close to the Red Line. Further out, on Shaheed Path and Raebareli Road, Sushant Golf City and Vrindavan Yojana are townships with gates and no metro at all.

This guide covers three zones: Hazratganj, Lalbagh & Aminabad; Alambagh, Ashiyana & Rajajipuram; and Sushant Golf City, Vrindavan Yojana & Telibagh. For each locality it shows the route in, the routine at the door and the easiest class time.

How does a tutor reach each zone?

The Red Line opened in Lucknow on 5 September 2017, with eight stations from Transport Nagar to Charbagh along Kanpur Road. The underground stations at Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazratganj followed on 8 March 2019, when the line was also extended to the airport by way of Amausi. An east–west Blue Line from Charbagh into the old city has been approved and is being built; it is not open.

Hazratganj, Lalbagh & AminabadRed Line to Hazratganj, Sachivalaya, Hussainganj or Charbagh, then on foot or by auto; two-wheeler into ChowkFlats above shops or in older buildings; a call from the ground floor or a landmark in the lane
Alambagh, Ashiyana & RajajipuramRed Line to Alambagh, Alambagh ISBT, Singar Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Transport Nagar or Amausi, then by autoMostly a doorstep arrival at an independent house; a visitor register in apartment buildings

Hazratganj, Lalbagh & Aminabad

Hazratganj is the city's central business district. Its market began in 1827, took the name Hazratganj in 1842 and was remodelled after 1857. Sachivalaya station is in Lalbagh, with Hazratganj and Hussainganj one stop either side. Aminabad will have one of the underground stations on the Blue Line, which is also planned to serve Yahiyaganj, Pandeyganj and Chowk.

  • Hazratganj: homes are mostly flats above shopfronts or in older buildings on the side streets, with quieter pockets in Hasanganj and Civil Lines next door. Upper-floor flats may need a call from the ground floor, and shopping crowds peak in the evening and at weekends, so a late-afternoon weekday slot is simpler.
  • Lalbagh: apartment buildings and flats above shops, with banks, hotels and offices on the same streets. Sachivalaya station is here. Older buildings may lack a lift or guard, so share the floor and a landmark.
  • Aminabad: one of the oldest and busiest markets in the city, with homes in flats above or behind the shops. Sachivalaya is the nearest working station until the Blue Line opens. Car parking is very limited, and market crowds build from late afternoon, so weekend mornings or online sessions are easier to keep regular.
  • Aishbagh: historic and newer buildings together, including apartment blocks and some villas. Aishbagh Junction, a six-platform railway station, is here, and Charbagh is the nearest metro stop. Apartment buildings may keep a visitor register; older houses open straight onto the lane.
  • Chowk: the historic heart of old Lucknow, with builder floors and apartments in older buildings, often above shops. There is no metro station yet, and cars struggle in the lanes, so tutors come by two-wheeler or auto. Give a landmark near the house for the first visit.
  • Rajendra Nagar: a central colony of mid-rise apartment buildings near Aishbagh, Naka Hindola and Charbagh. Tutors ride the metro to Charbagh and finish by auto. Parking is easier inside compounds than on the narrow roads, and traffic around Charbagh is heavy at train and office times.

Alambagh, Ashiyana & Rajajipuram

This is the part of Lucknow the metro reached first. Alambagh, a palace and garden turned into a fort in November 1857, now has the city's biggest bus terminal and two Red Line stations. Singar Nagar and Krishna Nagar stations opened in September 2017; Krishna Nagar serves Krishna Nagar, the LDA Colony and Ashiyana. Transport Nagar station stands where Shaheed Path meets Kanpur Road.

  • Alambagh: independent houses, builder floors, apartments and some gated communities, with a large morning vegetable market. Alambagh and Alambagh ISBT stations serve it. Kanpur Road is heavy at rush hour, so avoid the evening peak.
  • Ashiyana: mostly independent houses in the authority's Kanpur Road scheme, with builder floors, apartments and plots too. Homes open onto sector lanes, so there is rarely a society gate. Tutors take an auto from Krishna Nagar or Singar Nagar stations.
  • Rajajipuram: a planned colony in lettered blocks from A to F, with wide roads and parks. Alambagh is the nearest metro station and Alamnagar railway station is close by. A block letter and house number are enough for a first visit.
  • LDA Colony: the Lucknow Development Authority's Kanpur Road scheme, laid out in lettered sectors such as B, C, D, D-1, E, F, G, H and K. Most homes are independent houses and plots, so the tutor parks in the sector lane and comes to the door.
  • Krishna Nagar: independent houses dominate, followed by villas and some apartments. Krishna Nagar station, in Baldi Khera, lies between Singar Nagar and Transport Nagar, so this is one of the simpler southern neighbourhoods to reach by metro.
  • Sarojini Nagar: on the airport side of Kanpur Road, with independent houses, apartments, villas, plots and state housing board flats. Amausi and the airport station form the southern end of the Red Line, and Amausi also has a railway station on the Kanpur line.

Sushant Golf City, Vrindavan Yojana & Telibagh

Shaheed Path links Kanpur Road with Ayodhya Road by way of the Sultanpur Road and Raebareli Road highways, and this zone sits along its southern arc. None of the three has a metro station, so tutors come by road. A home tutor from inside the zone for the main subject, plus an online specialist for a second, keeps evening trips short.

  • Sushant Golf City: a large township on Shaheed Path and the Lucknow to Sultanpur highway, planned around an 18-hole golf course. Most homes are apartments in gated towers, with plots and villas. Towers register visitors and sometimes need an approved entry pass for a regular tutor, so arrange it before the first class.
  • Vrindavan Yojana: a UP Awas Vikas Parishad township on Raebareli Road, in numbered sectors across several schemes, with apartments, houses, builder floors and plots. Share your scheme and sector with the address. Raebareli Road is busy at school and office times.
  • Telibagh: a quiet neighbourhood on Raebareli Road where independent houses make up most homes. Houses open onto the lane, so parking outside is simple. Transport Nagar on Kanpur Road is the nearest Red Line stop, so tutors come by two-wheeler, car or auto.

Which timing works in each zone?

  1. Centre: afternoon weekday classes, before market crowds build in Hazratganj, Aminabad and Chowk; weekend mornings for longer sessions.
  2. Kanpur Road side: a slot clear of the Kanpur Road peaks, or a later class with a tutor who comes by metro.
  3. Shaheed Path and Raebareli Road: a fixed slot agreed in advance, away from school and office hours, with a tutor from within the zone.

How NXTutors can help

Tell us your locality, block or sector, the class, board and subject, and we match two or three tutors, starting with those nearest you, then the rest of your zone and the city, with online tutors across India when that suits better. You see each tutor's fee before the demo, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Start with maths home tutors in Lucknow, science, physics or chemistry, or see every locality on home tutors across Lucknow.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Blue Line open for tutors travelling to Aminabad or Chowk?

No. The east–west Blue Line from Charbagh has been approved and is being built, with an underground station planned at Aminabad and a route serving Chowk, but it is not open. For now, tutors use Sachivalaya on the Red Line and finish by auto, or come by two-wheeler.

Which metro station serves Ashiyana and the LDA Colony?

Krishna Nagar on the Red Line, open since September 2017, serves Krishna Nagar, the LDA Colony and Ashiyana. Singar Nagar is another option for Ashiyana, and Transport Nagar lies further south where Shaheed Path meets Kanpur Road. Most tutors finish the trip by auto to your sector.

Do tutors need an entry pass in Sushant Golf City?

Often, yes. Most homes are apartments in gated towers, which register visitors at the gate and sometimes need an approved entry pass for a regular tutor. Arrange it before the free demo class, and share the tower and flat number so the tutor is not held at the gate.

When is the easiest time for a class in Hazratganj or Aminabad?

A late-afternoon weekday slot, or a weekend morning. Shopping and market crowds peak in the evening, and parking is scarce, so a tutor who comes by metro to Hazratganj or Sachivalaya and walks the last stretch usually keeps better time than one who drives through the market.

How much does home tuition cost in Alambagh or Hazratganj?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and NXTutors shows it to you before the free demo class.
