Home Tuition in Gomti Nagar and Trans-Gomti Lucknow: A Locality Guide
North and east of the Gomti, Lucknow splits into two very different kinds of neighbourhood for a home tutor. On one side sit the planned khands of Gomti Nagar and the sectors of Indira Nagar, with the newer towers of Gomti Nagar Extension and the townships along Faizabad Road beyond them. On the other sit the established Trans-Gomti colonies of Mahanagar, Nirala Nagar and Aliganj, and the lettered and numbered sectors of Jankipuram further north.
This guide covers two zones: Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar & Chinhat, and Mahanagar, Aliganj & Jankipuram. For each locality it shows which station a tutor uses, whether the visit starts at a society gate or at your front door, and which roads to keep in mind when you fix the class time.
Which stations and roads serve the two zones?
Every station in the table is on the Red Line. Its northern stretch, from Munshi Pulia down through Indira Nagar and the Trans-Gomti stations, opened on 8 March 2019. Shaheed Path, a four-lane outer road opened in 2012, links Gomti Nagar and Gomti Nagar Extension with Faizabad Road at Chinhat.
| Zone | Red Line stations tutors use | Other links | Localities with no station inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar & Chinhat | Munshi Pulia, Indira Nagar, Bhootnath Market, Lekhraj Market | Gomti Nagar and Malhaur railway stations; Shaheed Path; Faizabad Road; Ring Road | Gomti Nagar, Gomti Nagar Extension, Chinhat |
| Mahanagar, Aliganj & Jankipuram | Badshahnagar, IT College, Vishwavidyalaya | Badshahnagar railway station; Sitapur Road; Kursi Road; Purania Road; Ring Road | Mahanagar, Aliganj, Vikas Nagar, Jankipuram, Jankipuram Extension |
The pattern matters for your shortlist. Homes near a station can draw tutors from anywhere on the line, because the tutor rides the metro and takes an auto for the last leg. Homes further out depend on tutors who ride a two-wheeler or drive, so a tutor from your own zone becomes the practical choice.
Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar & Chinhat
Gomti Nagar is a planned township whose khands all begin with the letter V. Its first two phases are fully occupied, while the Extension is still being developed. Gomti Nagar railway station, in Vivek Khand on the Barabanki to Lucknow suburban line, serves Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Chinhat and Kamta. Indira Nagar, a UP Housing and Development Board colony, grew from four planned blocks to 25, and four Red Line stations run through it.
- Gomti Nagar: independent houses and plotted homes on wide sector roads beside apartment blocks and gated complexes. Houses mean a doorstep arrival with street parking; complexes register visitors, so share the tower and flat number. Name your khand, such as Vibhuti, Vishwas, Vivek or Vijay Khand, because several sound alike. Metro riders use Indira Nagar or Munshi Pulia next door.
- Gomti Nagar Extension: numbered sectors along Shaheed Path, with authority-built apartments, private towers, gated townships and plotted homes. There is no metro station inside, so tutors come by car, two-wheeler or auto. Gated societies may issue an entry pass for regular visitors; arrange one before the first class.
- Indira Nagar: mostly independent houses and builder floors on plotted lanes, so there is rarely a gate to clear. Lekhraj Market, Bhootnath Market, Indira Nagar and Munshi Pulia stations all lie inside the colony, so a tutor who travels by metro can often walk from the station to your door. Market roads near Bhootnath and Lekhraj fill up in the evening.
- Chinhat: on Faizabad Road, the highway towards Ayodhya, where Shaheed Path meets it. Independent houses and plots sit beside apartment projects and townships along the main road. Malhaur and Gomti Nagar are the nearest railway stations; tutors mostly travel by road from Gomti Nagar or Indira Nagar.
In this zone the dividing line is the Red Line. Indira Nagar sits on it; Gomti Nagar sits beside it; Gomti Nagar Extension and Chinhat sit well beyond it. If you live in the Extension or Chinhat, look first at tutors who live in Gomti Nagar or along Shaheed Path, and keep a specialist subject online.
Mahanagar, Aliganj & Jankipuram
The Trans-Gomti area takes in Mahanagar, Vikas Nagar, Nirala Nagar, Aliganj and Jankipuram. A Mahanagar metro station was planned but dropped from the final Red Line, so the area is served by Badshahnagar and IT College, both elevated stations that opened with Vishwavidyalaya on 8 March 2019. Badshahnagar metro station connects with Badshahnagar railway station.
- Mahanagar: independent houses, villas and apartment buildings, with Purania Road and Kapoorthala Road as main links. Independent homes allow a straight doorstep arrival. Tutors use Badshahnagar or IT College stations and walk or take an auto.
- Nishatganj: a busy market between Hazratganj and Mahanagar, with apartment buildings and houses in the older lanes behind the shopfronts. IT College station is close by. The route towards Gomti Nagar is heavily used at office hours, so keep classes outside the evening rush.
- Nirala Nagar: parks, wide roads and a planned layout, with independent houses, villas and apartments. IT College is the nearest station, with trains to Hazratganj, Charbagh and the airport. Apartment buildings may keep a visitor register.
- Kapoorthala: a main road lined with shops and offices, and independent houses and apartments in the lanes behind. Parking outside is hard on the market stretch, so a tutor should plan a spot in a side lane. IT College and Vishwavidyalaya are the nearest stations.
- Aliganj: one of the largest residential localities in north Lucknow, planned in lettered sectors from A and B through to K, L and N, mostly independent houses on plotted layouts. Sitapur Road, Kursi Road, Purania Road and the Ring Road at Tedhi Pulia connect it; Badshahnagar is the closest station. A sector letter with the house number is enough for a first visit.
- Vikas Nagar: numbered sectors between Kalyanpur and Aliganj, mostly independent houses, so no gate registration and easy parking. Kursi Road and the Ring Road run through it; the nearest stations are outside the locality, so tutors finish by auto or come all the way by road.
- Jankipuram: Lucknow Development Authority sectors with independent houses, villas, township developments and apartment towers. There is no metro station, and the towers register visitors at the gate. The Sitapur highway and Madiyaon road are the main links.
- Jankipuram Extension: also called Jankipuram Vistar, a newer authority scheme in numbered sectors, with much land still sold as plots. With no metro in this belt, tutors arrive by road; a map pin helps on the first visit because some sectors are still filling up.
The zone has a clear gradient. Mahanagar, Nishatganj, Nirala Nagar and Kapoorthala sit near the Red Line and can draw tutors from across the city. Aliganj and Vikas Nagar are a short auto ride from it. Jankipuram and Jankipuram Extension depend on tutors who live nearby, so a family there often keeps one home tutor for school subjects and adds an online specialist for senior-school work.
When should a weekday class start?
- Soon after school in the market localities: Nishatganj, Kapoorthala, and the Bhootnath and Lekhraj stretches of Indira Nagar are busiest in the evening.
- A little earlier than usual in Aliganj and Nirala Nagar, where market stretches and the roads towards Hazratganj fill up as the evening goes on.
- A fixed slot agreed in advance along Shaheed Path and Faizabad Road, for Gomti Nagar Extension and Chinhat, where office-hour traffic is heaviest.
- Weekend mornings for a first demo class or a longer revision session anywhere in the two zones.
How NXTutors can help
Tell us your khand, sector or colony, the class, board and subject, and we match two or three tutors, nearest first, then from the rest of the zone and the city, with online tutors across India when that suits better. You see each tutor's fee before the demo, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Frequently asked questions
Which metro stations serve Gomti Nagar?
There is no Red Line station inside Gomti Nagar itself. Tutors use Indira Nagar or Munshi Pulia in neighbouring Indira Nagar and finish by auto, and Gomti Nagar railway station in Vivek Khand serves the suburban line. Share your khand and a nearby crossing so the tutor finds the house quickly.
Why is there no Mahanagar metro station?
A Mahanagar station was planned but dropped from the final Red Line. Badshahnagar and IT College stations, both open since 8 March 2019, serve the area instead. Badshahnagar also connects with Badshahnagar railway station, so a tutor can arrive by train or metro and walk or take an auto.
Do tutors need a gate pass in Gomti Nagar Extension?
Often, yes. Gated societies register visitors at the main gate and may issue an entry pass for regular visits, so arrange one before the free demo class. Share the tower and flat number too. Plotted homes in some sectors are simpler, with the tutor arriving straight at your door.
Is Jankipuram hard for tutors to reach?
It has no metro station, so tutors come by two-wheeler, car or auto along the Sitapur highway or Madiyaon road. A tutor who lives in Jankipuram, Aliganj or Vikas Nagar is the easiest to schedule. Online classes can cover a specialist senior-school subject without a long evening trip.
How much does home tuition cost in Gomti Nagar or Aliganj?
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it on NXTutors before the free demo class.
