Home Tuition in South and Central Bhopal: Arera Colony to Misrod

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

South and central Bhopal is where the city's planned sectors, its main office district and its fastest-growing corridors meet. The first operating section of the metro's Orange Line runs through this part of the city, so for some homes a tutor can now arrive by train.

This guide covers three zones, Arera Colony, Shahpura & Kolar Road; MP Nagar, TT Nagar & Shivaji Nagar; and Hoshangabad Road, Misrod & Katara Hills, locality by locality, then looks at addresses, gates and class timing.

How do the three zones compare?

The Orange Line priority section, eight elevated stations including Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamlapati Station, MP Nagar and Board Office Square, up to Subhash Nagar, opened to passengers in December 2025. Its northern extension and the Blue Line are not open yet. The BRTS corridor that once ran down Hoshangabad Road was discontinued in 2023 and dismantled from 2024, so buses there now run in mixed traffic.

Arera Colony, Shahpura & Kolar Road

This zone runs from the planned sectors of Arera Colony, laid out in the numbered E-1 to E-8 sectors, past Shahpura Lake and down the Kolar Road corridor. It mixes older planned housing with new gated projects.

  • Arera Colony: the older sectors, E-1 to E-5, are tree-lined streets of bungalows and houses with gardens; E-6 and E-7 are housing board colonies and E-8 a private extension. Bittan Market is the everyday shopping street. Link Road Number 3 leads to Rani Kamlapati station, a stop on the open section of the Orange Line. Most visits start at the door, though some lanes have a gate where the guard asks for the house number.
  • Shahpura: colonies, independent houses and smaller apartment buildings around Shahpura Lake, blending into Arera Colony, Trilanga, Chuna Bhatti and Bawadiya Kalan. Tutors from Arera Colony and Kolar Road reach it easily. Pick a slot away from the evening rush towards Hoshangabad Road.
  • Kolar Road: a long residential corridor of plotted colonies, independent houses and newer gated apartments and villa communities, with Sarvadharm Colony among its older colonies. There is no metro or suburban rail stop, so tutors come by two-wheeler or auto; families further down often add online classes for specialist subjects.
  • Chuna Bhatti: the city end of Kolar Road, between Shahpura and Trilanga, with villa and apartment projects by local builders and plotted houses in older colonies. Expect to register the tutor with security on the first visit. Late afternoon or early evening slots tend to work better.
  • Bawadiya Kalan: also spelt Bawadia Kalan, a fast-growing locality south of Shahpura, next to Salaiya, Danish Nagar and Pallavi Nagar. Most families live in apartments, so share the tutor's name with the society office in advance. In larger societies, several families sometimes book the same tutor on the same evening.

MP Nagar, TT Nagar & Shivaji Nagar

The central belt holds the city's main office district and much of its government housing. The open section of the metro runs through it, but parking and office-hour traffic shape class times more than anywhere else.

  • MP Nagar: short for Maharana Pratap Nagar, the main commercial and office district, divided into zones. Offices and showrooms fill the main roads; apartments and older houses fill the residential streets. MP Nagar station is on the open Orange Line section and Rani Kamlapati station is close by. Evenings after the rush or weekend mornings work well.
  • TT Nagar: the area around New Market, south of the Upper Lake, built largely as government housing. North TT Nagar is now the smart city redevelopment site; South TT Nagar and colonies such as Professors Colony remain residential. Quarter numbers often replace street addresses, so share clear directions.
  • Shivaji Nagar: a residential locality between MP Nagar, Arera Colony and Arera Hills, much of it government-owned housing identified by block and quarter numbers, alongside private houses and builder floors.
  • Tulsi Nagar: next to Shivaji Nagar and TT Nagar, also developed largely as government housing, now with independent houses, flats and builder floors too. Its central position means tutors from TT Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Arera Colony and MP Nagar can all reach it.
  • Jahangirabad: an older neighbourhood near the Lower Lake, between the old city and the newer south, with Aishbagh and Barkhedi alongside. Bhopal Junction is close; Pul Bogda and Aishbagh are planned stations on the unopened northern part of the Orange Line. Inner lanes are narrow, so tutors often park at the lane mouth and walk in.

Hoshangabad Road, Misrod & Katara Hills

The south-eastern corridor follows the highway towards Misrod and Mandideep, now also called Narmadapuram Road. Gated townships dominate, and tutors who live on the same stretch are the easiest to schedule.

  • Hoshangabad Road: older colonies of independent houses mixed with apartment towers, gated townships and villa projects, alongside showrooms and offices. Many families live in gated societies, where the tutor is registered at the gate. Evening slots after the office-hour rush run more smoothly.
  • Misrod: a suburb on NH-46, the highway to Nagpur, with gated townships, apartment projects, houses and plotted layouts; Jatkhedi, Salaiya and Bagmugaliya are neighbours. Misrod railway station is on the Bhopal to Itarsi line, but few trains stop there, so most tutors come by road.
  • Katara Hills: a newer area of planned communities, apartments, villas and plots, connected by Hoshangabad Road and 200 Feet Road, with Awadhpuri and Jatkhedi nearby. Public transport is limited, so tutors living in Katara Hills, Bagmugaliya or Awadhpuri are the easiest to schedule.
  • Bagmugaliya: off Hoshangabad Road next to Katara Hills and Jatkhedi, with Laharpur and Arvind Vihar nearby. Apartments, independent houses, villas and plots draw families wanting relatively affordable homes. In apartment projects the tutor is registered with security; in houses and on plots the tutor comes to the door.

Which address details save the first visit?

The three zones need different details:

  1. Sector and house number in Arera Colony, with a landmark such as Bittan Market.
  2. Block and quarter number in the government housing of Shivaji Nagar, Tulsi Nagar and TT Nagar.
  3. The tutor's name at the gate along Kolar Road, Hoshangabad Road, Misrod and Katara Hills, registered before the first class.
  4. A lane landmark in Jahangirabad, where a scooter can be parked.

When should a weekday class start?

In the central belt, start after office traffic eases around MP Nagar and New Market, or use weekend mornings. In Arera Colony and Shahpura, an early-evening slot beats the link-road rush; on Kolar Road, late afternoon works; on the Hoshangabad Road side, a little after the evening peak, with a tutor from the same stretch. If the right specialist lives across the city, pair a nearby home tutor with an online class for the second subject. Our comparison of home and online tutors helps decide which subject goes where.

Frequently asked questions

Which metro stations help tutors reach south and central Bhopal?

The open Orange Line section, including Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamlapati Station, MP Nagar and Board Office Square. MP Nagar serves the office district and Shivaji Nagar, while Rani Kamlapati is linked to Arera Colony by Link Road Number 3. The northern stations near Jahangirabad are planned but not open.

Is the BRTS lane still on Hoshangabad Road?

No. The BRTS corridor was discontinued in 2023 and dismantled in stages from 2024, so buses now share the road with other traffic. For tuition, the practical point is timing: Hoshangabad Road is busy at office hours, so a slot a little after the evening rush holds better.

Do tutors need gate registration in Kolar Road and Katara Hills?

Often, yes. Gated apartment projects, villa communities and townships along Kolar Road, Hoshangabad Road, Misrod and Katara Hills usually note the tutor's name at the gate before the first class. In the older plotted colonies and independent houses, the tutor comes straight to the door.

How should we give directions in TT Nagar or Shivaji Nagar?

Share the block and quarter number, plus a landmark near New Market or the main road. Much of the housing in TT Nagar, Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar was built as government quarters identified by numbers rather than street names. Private houses and builder floors are ordinary doorstep visits with a house number.

How much does home tuition cost in south and central Bhopal?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and NXTutors shows it before the free demo class, so you can compare quotes first.
