Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Ludhiana families choose between several boards, and our Ludhiana tutors page names the main ones: the Punjab School Education Board, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and a smaller group on IB or Cambridge IGCSE. We publish no shares for any of them. For CBSE students the work is fairly constant across the city: read NCERT closely, practise the competency questions the board now leans on, and write answers with every step shown. This page lays out what CBSE expects from Class 6 to 12, the 2026-27 changes in Classes 9 and 10, how its papers differ from PSEB's, what a CBSE week with a tutor can look like, and how tutors reach six localities. Abhinandan Tiwary writes our notes on Class 10 CBSE maths, and Aaditya Kashyap on CBSE science.
| Class | Examined by | Typical trouble spot | Where a tutor helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | The school | Fractions, negative numbers, reading a science paragraph carefully | Repairing basics and the habit of showing working |
| 9 | The school: an 80-mark annual paper and 20 internal marks | Maths and science both widen sharply | Chapter tests and a decision on the Advanced paper |
| 10 | CBSE board: 80 marks plus 20 assessed in school | Application questions and presentation | Sample papers marked against the official scheme |
| 11 | The school | The leap in physics, chemistry and maths | A firm base before the board year |
| 12 | CBSE board: theory with practical or internal marks | Revising the whole syllabus while entrance work competes for time | One revision plan serving both aims |
A subject needs at least 33% to pass in Class 10. Most "sudden" Class 9 problems trace back to fractions and early algebra, so for younger students a tutor earns more by repairing than by racing ahead.
Every Class 9 student now sits one common 80-mark paper in maths and one in science. Beyond those, a student may choose an Advanced paper in maths, science, both or neither: 25 marks of higher-order questions on extra content. Advanced marks stay outside the aggregate, and a score of 50% or more is recorded on the marksheet. The Basic and Standard maths split is being phased out, and the 2026-27 Class 10 batch is the last to finish the older scheme. Take Advanced only where your child is already comfortable.
Class 10 has two board exams from 2026. The first is compulsory. A student who passes may return for the second to improve up to three subjects among science, maths, social science and the languages. Treat the first as the real exam and the second as a safety net. About half of each secondary paper is competency-based, built on cases, sources, data and real situations, so a tutor who only assigns textbook exercises is preparing for a different paper.
A tutor may teach both boards, and a child may move from one to the other, so the differences matter. The Punjab board publishes its own question-paper structures on pseb.ac.in; its 2026-27 Class 10 documents set the pattern below.
| Feature | CBSE | PSEB |
|---|---|---|
| Marks split | 80 for the paper, 20 assessed in school | 80 theory, 20 internal assessment (INA) |
| Maths paper shape | Set out in each year's sample paper | 18 compulsory questions in four sections: 20 one-mark MCQs, then 2-, 4- and 6-mark questions, with one case-study question |
| Science paper shape | Set out in each year's sample paper | 23 questions; written answers with suggested lengths, and source-based or case-study long answers |
| Emphasis | About half the paper competency-based | Difficulty spread across below-average, average and above-average questions |
| Where to check | cbseacademic.nic.in sample papers and marking schemes | Structure of question paper and model test papers on pseb.ac.in |
The maths and science content overlaps a great deal. What changes is the answer: CBSE's competency questions reward reading a situation carefully, while PSEB's science structure even gives word ranges for each type of answer. A tutor fluent in one board should spend the first weeks with a new student on the other board's question style.
Families move house and children change schools. On the paperwork side, the Punjab board's site carries an inter-board migration schedule for Classes 8 to 12 in 2026-27, handled through its registration portal, and a notice on documents needed to allot registration numbers to Class 9 and 11 students arriving from other states or boards. The school handles these steps; check them with the new school early. On the teaching side, a child leaving PSEB for CBSE needs NCERT's wording and competency questions, and one going the other way needs the board's own textbooks and its paper structure. Our Punjab board tutors in Ludhiana page covers PSEB in depth, and the guide to choosing a board and stream helps with the bigger decision.
The Class 12 paper covers the whole Class 12 syllabus, and CBSE says senior papers will lean further towards application. Because the paper design arrives each year with the sample paper, a tutor should be using the current one. For the board year, see our Class 12 physics strategies, the organic and inorganic chemistry guide and the calculus and algebra guide. Students also preparing for entrance exams can see JEE and NEET home tutors in Ludhiana; careful NCERT work serves the board and those exams alike.
For a Class 9 or 10 student, two sessions a week usually do more than one long weekend sitting. The first session repairs whatever went wrong in school tests: back to the NCERT explanation, then exemplar and competency questions on the same idea. The second is for writing, with board-style answers produced in full and marked line by line for steps, units, labelled diagrams and neatness. Once a month, the tutor sets a section of the current sample paper under time pressure and marks it against the official scheme. Ask for a one-page monthly note listing chapters covered, test scores and mistakes that keep returning; it is the simplest way to see whether tuition is working.
The Ludhiana hub notes that some students are happiest learning in Punjabi, some in Hindi and some in English, and many switch between them. A tutor can explain a hard idea in the language your child thinks in. The written answer, though, has to be in the language of the paper, so practice should end in English if that is how your child writes the board exam. Say in your request which languages suit your child; we match language along with board and class. Subject pages: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English in Ludhiana; board-year maths at Class 10, plus our Class 10 maths preparation and Class 10 science notes.
| Locality | Zone | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Rishi Nagar | Civil Lines and Haibowal | Tell the caretaker the tutor's name and days; families here often pick an afternoon slot straight after school |
| Kitchlu Nagar | Civil Lines and Haibowal | Mostly houses with street parking for a two-wheeler; agree a fixed slot before Hambran Road gets busy |
| Salem Tabri | Civil Lines and Haibowal | Flats near the Jalandhar Bypass side; an early slot beats the evening through traffic |
| Shimlapuri | Pakhowal Road and Dugri | Share the gali or block; some inner lanes are narrow |
| Sector 32A | Chandigarh Road East | Numbered plots make the first visit simple; Samrala Road is busy in the evening |
| Jamalpur | Chandigarh Road East | Add a landmark on Chandigarh Road; weekend mornings suit a longer session |
We look for tutors near you first, then in your zone and across the city, and online if needed. Our Ludhiana home tuition guide covers timing in every zone, including Ferozepur Road West. If the right tutor lives across the city, the online tutors for Ludhiana page explains how a mixed home and online plan works.
You get two or three matched tutors with every fee shown beforehand, a free first class, and a free switch later if needed. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. Our CBSE board hub explains the board in more depth.

For a Ludhiana student, CBSE and PSEB Class 10 maths and science both carry 80 marks plus 20 internal, but the answer style differs. CBSE sets about half of each paper as competency questions on cases and data, while PSEB's 2026-27 structures fix each question type and science even suggests word ranges.
The CBSE Class 9 Advanced paper, which Ludhiana students may add from 2026-27, is a 25-mark paper of higher-order questions in maths, science, both or neither. It sits outside the aggregate, and a score of 50% or more is noted on the marksheet. Take it only where your child is already comfortable.
Yes, a Ludhiana CBSE Class 10 student gets two board exams from 2026, and the first is compulsory for everyone. A student who passes may take the second to improve up to three subjects among science, maths, social science and the languages, so treat the first as the real exam.
When a Ludhiana child moves from PSEB to CBSE, the tutor should first spend weeks on NCERT wording, competency questions and stepwise marking, using the current sample paper. Maths and science content carries over well. Inter-board migration for Classes 8 to 12 goes through the schools, so check it with the new school early.
Yes, many CBSE tutors in Ludhiana can explain in Punjabi or Hindi, and plenty of students learn more easily that way. The board answer must still be written in the paper's language, usually English, with full steps, so check at the demo that your child writes answers, not just listens.
For Ludhiana students in CBSE Classes 11 and 12, Physics, Chemistry and Biology carry 70 theory and 30 practical marks. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, only one of them, and Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies each carry 80 theory and 20 internal. A tutor should use the current year's sample paper.
Two sessions a week usually do more for a Ludhiana Class 9 or 10 CBSE student than one long weekend sitting. One session repairs school-test errors from NCERT and exemplar questions; the other is for full board-style answers marked line by line, with a timed sample-paper section once a month.
A Ludhiana CBSE student usually gains most from a home tutor living nearby, found first in the locality, then the zone and the city. If the right tutor lives across Ludhiana, for example from Rishi Nagar to Jamalpur, a mixed plan with some online sessions can work instead.
