Economics in Bhopal is studied under four kinds of board: CBSE, the MP Board in Hindi or English medium, CISCE's ISC, and the IB or Cambridge courses that a smaller group of students follows. The subject is the same; the papers reward different habits, from tabulated statistics in CBSE Class 11 to unstructured A Level essays and IB commentaries. NXTutors matches an economics tutor on board, class and medium first, then on your sector or colony and how a tutor will get there. This NXTutors Academic Team page explains the Bhopal side; the full subject guide is our national economics home tutor page.
| Board | Structure | First priority for a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| MP Board | The board's own Class 11–12 economics syllabus, books and paper | Teaching from the prescribed book in the student's medium |
| CBSE (030) | Class 11: statistics 40, microeconomics 40. Class 12: macroeconomics 40, Indian Economic Development 40. Project 20 each year | Numericals with interpretation; diagrams drawn from memory |
| ISC (856) | Part I 20 compulsory marks; Part II five of eight 12-mark questions; two 10-mark projects | Timed, complete long answers |
| Cambridge IGCSE (0455) | Multiple choice, 1 hour, 30%; structured questions, 2 hours, 70% | Precise terms and short structured answers |
| Cambridge AS & A Level (9708) | Multiple choice plus data response and essays; A Level essays unstructured | Essay planning |
| IB SL / HL | Papers 1 and 2; Paper 3 (policy) at HL; three commentaries as internal assessment | Evaluation and the commentary skill |
CUET (UG) sits on top of all this for students aiming at central universities. The NTA's 2026 bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics (code 309) as a domain subject with 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus; check the current bulletin each year.
Diagrams are where many economics answers quietly lose marks. Take a question from CBSE Class 11's unit on perfect competition and price determination (8 marks in the unit weighting): "Explain the effect of an increase in consumers' income on the equilibrium price and quantity of a normal good." A full answer has four parts. A labelled diagram, with price on the vertical axis and quantity on the horizontal, the original demand and supply curves and the first equilibrium marked. The demand curve shifted to the right, with an arrow. The new equilibrium, at a higher price and a higher quantity, marked and labelled. And a short chain of reasoning in words: higher income raises demand at every price, excess demand appears at the old price, and competition among buyers pushes the price up until a new equilibrium is reached.
Students tend to stop after the diagram, or write the words with no diagram at all. A tutor insists on both, every time, until the student does it without prompting.
Bhopal students sitting the state board write papers set by the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh, in Hindi or English medium. We keep our account of its economics course general: the board alone fixes the syllabus, the prescribed books and the paper, and families should take the current pattern from its official website rather than from a guidebook. The tutor to look for teaches straight from that book, practises the board's own past papers, and writes definitions and diagram labels in the textbook's vocabulary, so the student never has to translate in the exam hall.
Half of CBSE Class 12 economics is Indian Economic Development, and its current-challenges unit alone carries 20 marks. These are written answers, and a clear structure helps the examiner find each point: an opening that defines the issue, two or three developed points each tied to a cause or a policy, and a closing judgement. A tutor can supply a simple template, then mark one long answer a week against it, tightening the wording each time. Students who learn to plan for a minute before writing usually finish the paper with time to check their numericals.
In ISC Economics, 60 of the 80 theory marks come from five 12-mark answers, so practising complete answers to time matters more than skimming every chapter. The two ISC projects, 10 marks each, are marked on format, content, findings and a viva. CBSE asks for one project a session of 3,500 to 4,000 words, marked for relevance (3), knowledge and research (6), presentation (3) and viva (8), on a topic often drawn from recent news or government policy. In both cases a tutor can explain the economics and rehearse the viva; the research and writing belong to the student.
IB Economics teaches individual markets, the national economy and the global economy through nine key concepts. The internal assessment is three commentaries on news extracts from different units, 30% of the grade at SL and 20% at HL; a tutor may coach the skill on practice articles but, under IB academic-integrity rules, must not write or rewrite any of it. HL students also sit Paper 3, which asks for a policy recommendation from data. At Cambridge, the step from two-part AS essays to unstructured A Level essays is where planning has to be taught. Families looking for wider IB support can see our IB tutors in Bhopal page.

Economics translates well to a screen: diagrams on a shared whiteboard, articles opened together, essays marked in a shared document. For IB, A Level and ISC long answers, online also reaches tutors across India, which helps because we cannot say in advance that a specialist lives near you. Home lessons still suit Class 11 statistics and younger students. If you live near an Orange Line station such as MP Nagar or Alkapuri, say so in the request: it can bring tutors from the city side within easy reach.
If it does not feel right, say so: another tutor from the shortlist gives the next demo, and swapping later is also free. Every new tutor completes an ID check first.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and each is visible before the demo; the Bhopal fees guide explains the range.
Any Bhopal family can request an economics tutor. Share the board, class and medium, the weakest skill, your sector or colony, free times, home or online, and a budget. Yes, you can request one. Tell us the class and the medium. The MP Board sets its own syllabus, books and paper, so we look for a tutor who teaches from the prescribed book, practises the board's past papers and uses the textbook's Hindi terms for definitions and diagram labels.
Usually because half the answer is missing. A full answer needs a labelled diagram, the shift shown with an arrow, the new equilibrium marked, and a short explanation in words of why price and quantity change. Students often give the diagram or the words, not both; a tutor insists on both.
With timed, complete answers. Sixty of the 80 theory marks come from five 12-mark questions chosen from eight, so structure and pace matter as much as knowledge. A tutor who sets and marks one full answer each lesson, with a diagram where it fits, builds both habits over the year.
You can request one, and we look for a tutor who has taught IB SL or HL and knows the commentary portfolio and HL Paper 3. We cannot promise the right person lives near you, so online lessons, or a tutor who comes by the Orange Line, are often the practical options.
For most senior students, yes: diagrams on a shared whiteboard, articles opened together and essays marked on screen. Home lessons still help Class 11 statistics and younger students. Families near MP Nagar or Alkapuri stations can also reach tutors who travel by metro for home visits.
Usually, once the board syllabus is secure. The NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics as a domain subject: 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes, based on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus. A tutor then adds timed objective practice. Check the bulletin for your child's year.
