Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Many Jalgaon children grow up hearing Khandeshi, also called Ahirani, at home, learn standard Marathi at school and then meet English as a third way of speaking. Some study in Marathi medium, some in semi-English classes and some in English medium. Whatever the route, the English paper expects clear sentences, correct grammar and thoughtful answers about literature. The tutor who helps most is usually the one who builds a single, steady written voice rather than piling on worksheets. Share the board, the part of English that troubles your child and the languages spoken at home; NXTutors replies with two or three English tutors, fees included, and your first class with the one you pick is a free demo.
Requests for an English tutor tend to fall into three groups, and each needs a slightly different teacher:
Say which group your child is in when you write to us; it changes who we suggest.
| Board | Board years | Marks often lost on | Practise from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra State Board | English in the SSC (Standard X) and the HSC (Standard XII) | Writing tasks with the wrong format, and answers that guess instead of quoting the passage | Board textbooks, plus the sample papers on mahahsscboard.in |
| CBSE | English Language and Literature in Class 10; English Core in Classes 11 and 12 | Literature answers that wander past the word limit | The NCERT readers and CBSE sample papers |
| CISCE | ICSE English in Class 10; ISC English in Class 12 | Compositions without a plan, and loose grammar | The prescribed texts and specimen papers on cisce.org |
| Cambridge; IB | IGCSE First Language (0500) or English as a Second Language (0510/0511); IB Language A | Unseen texts analysed too briefly | Past papers that match the school's entry |
English is part of both State Board examinations, the SSC in Standard X and the HSC in Standard XII. Since the board recognises schools teaching in Marathi and in English, two Jalgaon children in the same standard can have very different English lives: for one it is the language of every lesson, for the other it is one subject among many taught in Marathi. This page does not copy the board's English marks; the current evaluation scheme and the sample question papers are on mahahsscboard.in, and a tutor's practice should come from those and the board's textbook.
Three habits carry most of the marks in any medium. Reading answers should be traced to a line in the passage. Each writing task, whether a letter, a report or a speech, needs its layout learned once and its content practised fresh every week. Literature answers should be jotted as points first and written in full second. For the board's other subjects, see our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Jalgaon page.
CBSE students read two NCERT books in Class 10, First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. The 2026-27 written paper is worth 80:
| Block | Marks | What it contains | Weekly task |
|---|---|---|---|
| Literature | 40 | Questions on both readers | Two answers planned in points, written to length, corrected |
| Reading | 20 | A discursive passage and a case-based factual passage with a chart or data | One timed passage, every answer pointing to its line |
| Grammar | 10 | Items from the syllabus list | Errors from the child's own writing, sorted by type |
| Writing | 10 | A formal letter (5) and an analytical paragraph on a chart, graph or map (5) | One piece, alternating the two |
The school adds 20 internal marks, of which listening and speaking make up 5. With literature worth half the written paper, regular corrected literature answers usually move marks faster than extra grammar drills.
When a child moves into English-medium books, usually at the start of a new stage of school, both the language and the content become unfamiliar at once. A good tutor starts bilingual and ends in English, in four steps:
If your child is most at ease in Khandeshi, say so. A tutor who notices the gap between the home language and standard Marathi and English can help a child write cleaner answers in both.
For young children the aim is simple: to read without fear, to write letters that sit neatly on the line, and to look forward to a story. Signs that help is needed include guessing a whole word from its first letter, skipping lines, and finding excuses to avoid a book. Little and often suits this age, with sounds and blends practised through phonics, a short page read aloud, and the story told back in the child's own words. Ask the tutor to send you one page of written work every fortnight, so progress in handwriting and sentences is visible. If English is rarely heard at home, picture talk in easy English is a good start, with Marathi or Khandeshi kept for moments of real confusion.
In CBSE English Core, Class 11 gives 26 marks to reading, 23 to grammar and creative writing and 31 to literature, taught through Hornbill and Snapshots; Class 12 moves to Flamingo and Vistas. ISC English asks for a composition of 400 to 450 words chosen from six topics, directed writing and a proposal, with literature examined separately. An IGCSE family should check with the school which English syllabus, first or second language, the child is entered for. In IB Language A, the work centres on analysing unseen texts, writing a comparative essay and preparing an individual oral. HSC students on the State Board work to the board's own current scheme. Few Jalgaon tutors specialise in ISC, IGCSE or IB English, which is why many of these lessons happen online; the national English home tutor page covers each course in more depth.
A tutor from your own side of the city is usually easiest to keep on a fixed weekly slot. Six colonies are below; the Jalgaon home tuition page lists the rest.
Many Baliram Peth homes are shared by grandparents, parents and children, and plenty of children here speak Khandeshi at home; agree a quiet hour and corner, and name the language your child finds easiest. In Navi Peth, where families often run a shop nearby, an English lesson after closing time can suit everyone; guide the tutor by the shop beside your door.
Tagore Nagar parents often ask how they will know tuition is working; a line in the homework diary after each class answers that. Ramanand Nagar is made up of many colonies, so write yours, and remember that a mixed plan, such as a home tutor for maths and an online class for English, is perfectly workable.
In Shivaji Nagar, across the railway line, younger children often need reading help more than subject help, and a tutor who handles a few subjects together can suit them. In Khote Nagar, on the western edge, English is often the subject taught online; set up a laptop or tablet, earphones and a notebook within camera view.
The Navi Peth and the Old Peths and Ramanand Nagar and Ring Road zone pages, and the Jalgaon home tuition guide, add local detail.
English travels well to a screen from around Class 3, as long as the tutor receives the child's written work ahead of the lesson, photographed or shared online. A screen also brings ISC, IGCSE and IB specialists within reach. Sitting side by side still wins for children just learning to read, for anyone in the first months after a medium change, and for spoken practice. Yes, a patient English tutor can help a Jalgaon child who speaks Khandeshi or Ahirani at home by noticing where home speech differs from standard Marathi and English. The tutor explains in the language the child finds easiest, then builds clean written English through a two-language word book, daily reading aloud and ready sentence frames.
A Jalgaon child moving into English-medium books should begin bilingual and finish in English, in planned steps. Start with a two-language word book and daily reading aloud, add sentence frames for answers and letters, and once the first term settles, run one lesson a week entirely in English, then two.
Jalgaon families can find the current State Board English scheme and sample question papers on mahahsscboard.in, the board's official site. English is examined in both the SSC and the HSC. A tutor should practise from those papers and the board's textbook, quoting the passage in reading answers and learning each writing format once.
In CBSE Class 10 English for 2026-27, literature carries 40 of the 80 written marks, reading 20, grammar 10 and writing 10. Writing is a formal letter and an analytical paragraph, five marks each. Because literature is half the paper, Jalgaon students usually gain most from two corrected literature answers every week.
English tuition for a Class 2 child in Jalgaon should focus on confident reading, neat letter formation and enjoying stories, not exam skills. Short lessons several times a week work well, using phonics, reading aloud with gentle correction and retelling. Ask the tutor to share one page of written work every fortnight so progress is visible.
Online English tuition often suits ISC or IGCSE students in Jalgaon, since specialists for these courses are scarce locally. ISC English includes a 400 to 450 word composition chosen from six topics, directed writing and a proposal. IGCSE families should first confirm whether the school entered the child for first- or second-language English.
Tagore Nagar parents can check progress by agreeing one simple reporting habit with the tutor at the start. A line in the homework diary after each class, or a weekly message listing what was covered, works well. For younger children, a fortnightly page of written work shows change in handwriting and sentences more clearly than any report card.
A Khote Nagar family should set up a laptop or tablet rather than a small phone, a steady internet connection, earphones and a notebook placed within camera view. Fewer tutors live inside the colony, so English is often the online subject in a mixed plan. Share photos of written work before each lesson.
