Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Jalgaon student on the State Board meets the board properly twice: once for the SSC after Standard X, and again for the HSC after Standard XII in science, commerce or arts. Every paper is common to the whole state, and the board's website holds more useful detail than most parents ever open, including coded subject lists and a scheme of evaluation for each paper. We have read those documents for this guide. It walks through the subject lists, then looks closely at two HSC papers that reach large groups of students: English, which nobody escapes, and the commerce stream's Mathematics & Statistics. After that come medium, entrance tests and how we match your child with a State Board tutor who can get to your colony. Before any decision, check the current version on mahahsscboard.in.
MSBSHSE, in full the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, holds the SSC examination at the end of Class 10 and the HSC examination at the end of Class 12. Subject lists, evaluation schemes, notices and results all appear on mahahsscboard.in, and the site also lists the divisional boards through which it works. In practice a Jalgaon family deals with the board through the school or junior college, which handles registration, hall tickets and practical arrangements. If you ever need the board office that handles your child's papers, the school can tell you which one it is.
The papers are identical across the state, so a Jalgaon tutor should prepare a student from exactly the documents a Pune or Nagpur tutor uses. That gives you a simple test for any tutor: are they planning from the board's own scheme, or from habit?
The board's SSC list, under Student & Syllabus on its website, has four main parts:
Before Standard IX, check which language papers your child will actually sit, especially if the family moved to Jalgaon from another state; a composite language paper can surprise a newcomer. For the SSC years subject by subject, see maths tutors and science tutors in Jalgaon.
English (01) is taken by every HSC student, and so are two compulsory subjects listed separately on the board's site: Environment Education & Water Security (31) and Health & Physical Education (30). The rest come from a long optional list, and each junior college runs its own combinations from it. The table groups the codes that families most often ask tutors about.
| Stream | Subjects (codes) | Where tutors are most asked for |
|---|---|---|
| Science | Maths & Statistics for arts and science (40), Biology (56), Chemistry (55), Physics (54), Information Technology (97) | Physics numericals, chemistry, maths |
| Commerce | Economics (49), Co-operation (53), Secretarial Practice (52), Organisation of Commerce & Management (51), Book Keeping & Accountancy (50), Maths & Statistics for Commerce (88), Information Technology (99) | Accountancy and commerce maths |
| Arts | English Literature (22), Psychology (48), Logic (47), Sociology (45), Political Science (42), Geography (39), History (38), Information Technology (98) | Long-answer writing, English Literature |
| Bifocal and applied | Banking (A5), Crop Science (B4), Computer Science (D9), Agriculture Science & Technology (75) | Usually taught in college; occasional help with theory |
For the sciences, go to our Jalgaon chemistry, biology and physics pages; the English page covers the language.
Science, commerce and arts students all sit compulsory English in Standard XII, so it is the one HSC paper every family shares. The board's evaluation scheme calls it an activity sheet, worth 80 marks, and splits it into four parts:
| Section | What is asked | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Prose | A seen extract of 275–300 words with six activities, non-textual grammar (do as directed, spot the error), an unseen extract of the same length with six activities, a summary and a mind map | 34 |
| Poetry | A seen extract of about 10–15 lines (including a poetic device and composing 2–4 lines of your own) and an appreciation of a second poem | 14 |
| Writing skills | Four sets of 4 marks; one activity is attempted from each set | 16 |
| Novel | Activities on the history of the English novel, then three pairs of answers of about 50 words | 16 |
The writing-skills sets are worth knowing by name, because a student should practise every format, not only one favourite. Set A offers virtual messages, a statement of purpose or a group discussion; set B an email, a report or an interview; set C a speech, compering or the expansion of an idea; set D a review, a blog or an appeal. The scheme also says that the first four questions are purely activity-based, that grammar is tested in a functional way rather than as plain instructions, and that a model mind map is only a reference, not the one right answer.
By objective, 33 marks test knowledge and understanding, 23 application, 11 skills and 13 creativity. Three lessons follow for a tutor. Half the prose marks come from an unseen passage, so regular reading of new material matters more than memorising textbook answers. The novel section is memory-based, so it rewards steady revision through the year. And creativity carries real marks, so a student who never writes freely will lose them. Weekly practice of one writing format and one unseen passage covers most of the paper's demands.
Commerce students take their own maths paper, code 88, separate from the science and arts paper. The board's scheme sets an 80-mark, three-hour paper in two sections of 40 marks, six questions in all, every one compulsory, though most offer a choice inside them:
Calculators stay out of the hall, log tables are permitted, and for linear programming a rough sketch of the graph is enough; graph paper is not needed.
| Part | Units (marks with option) | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Part I | Mathematical Logic (8), Matrices (8), Differentiation (7), Application of Derivatives (9), Integration (7), Definite Integration (5), Application of Definite Integration (4), Differential Equations and Applications (10) | 58 |
| Part II | Commission, Brokerage and Discount (6), Insurance and Annuity (4), Linear Regression (8), Time Series (7), Index Numbers (7), Linear Programming (6), Assignment Problems and Sequencing (9), Probability Distributions (11) | 58 |
The striking number is the split by objective: 61% of the marks test application and skill, 28% understanding and only 11% plain knowledge. Difficulty is set at 30% easy, 50% average and 20% difficult. So a commerce student who learns formulas but rarely solves unfamiliar problems will struggle, however well they know the definitions. The same scheme gives a 25-mark unit test and a 50-mark terminal paper for the junior-college year, and a tutor can use both as checkpoints on the way to the full paper. Commerce students who also want accountancy help can say so in the same request.
Codes 40 and 88 share a name and some topics, but they are different papers. Code 40, for arts and science, is also 80 marks in three hours but is built in four sections: eight multiple-choice questions of two marks and four one-mark answers, then any eight of twelve two-mark questions, any eight of twelve three-mark questions and any five of eight four-mark questions. Its units include vectors, three-dimensional lines and planes, and trigonometric functions, which commerce students do not meet, while code 88 carries commercial and statistical units such as insurance, index numbers and sequencing. A tutor who prepares a commerce student from a science guide, or the reverse, wastes weeks. Write the code in the request.
Children in Jalgaon study in Marathi-medium, semi-English and English-medium State Board classes. In a semi-English class, maths and science are often taught in English while other subjects stay in Marathi, so the tutor must know which words your child already uses for each topic. Many local families also speak Khandeshi (Ahirani) at home alongside Marathi. A tutor who explains in Marathi but has your child write answers in the paper's language often bridges the gap well, especially in the first months of Standard XI, when many students meet science entirely in English for the first time. Put the medium in the first line of your request, because we match on it early.
Many students stay with one tutor from Standard IX to the SSC, or for both junior-college years, so the journey matters as much as the teaching. From our area research:
The zone pages go further: Mahabal and Yashwant Nagar, Mehrun and Tambapura and Pimprala and Khote Nagar. Every area is on the Jalgaon home tutors page, and the Jalgaon home tuition guide covers each zone. Where the weekly trip is hard to sustain, split the week between a home visit and an online lesson with the same tutor; see online tuition in Jalgaon.
An HSC science student usually prepares for two kinds of paper at once. The board wants written explanations, derivations and a complete practical journal. MHT-CET, run by the State CET Cell in a PCM group and a PCB group, and JEE Main and NEET (UG), run by the National Testing Agency, want fast multiple-choice work on largely the same chapters. Read each test's rules only on its own site. The tutor's task is to protect written HSC answers even as entrance drills take up more of the week. See the JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Jalgaon, and the MHT-CET tutor page for Pune. If a change of board is on the table, see CBSE tutors or ICSE and ISC tutors in Jalgaon, and our article on picking a board and a stream. Other cities' versions of this page look at different papers: Chemistry in Nashik and Information Technology in Aurangabad.
We send two or three matched tutors, each fee visible before the demo. The first class costs nothing, and changing tutor later is free as well. Anyone who joins as a tutor goes through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (our checks). Our checklist for parents suggests further questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own rates. In the demo, ask how many sessions a week the standard and subjects need, and how the plan changes before terminal and preliminary exams. For what moves a fee, see the pricing guide and our post on tuition fees in Jalgaon.
Your first message should carry the standard, the subjects (with codes, if you know them), the medium, your colony and a landmark, and the times your child is free. Then book a free demo class. Tutor profiles are open to browse, and teachers of State Board subjects can find students through tuition jobs in Jalgaon.
Send the standard, subjects with their codes if you know them, the medium, your colony with a landmark and free slots. We shortlist two or three matched tutors who teach SSC or HSC papers, looking first near your colony, and show each fee before the first class. That class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education conducts both, the SSC for Class 10 and the HSC for Class 12. Its site, mahahsscboard.in, carries subject lists, evaluation schemes and notices. Registration and hall tickets come through the school or junior college, which can also tell you which board office handles your papers.
The board's scheme gives HSC English 80 marks: prose 34, poetry 14, writing skills 16 and the novel 16. Prose includes a seen and an unseen passage of 275 to 300 words, a summary and a mind map. The first four questions are purely activity-based, and grammar is tested in a functional way.
The writing section has four sets worth four marks each, and the student attempts one activity from every set. The sets cover virtual messages, statements of purpose and group discussions; emails, reports and interviews; speeches, compering and expansion of ideas; and reviews, blogs and appeals. Practise every format, one each week, rather than a single favourite.
It is an 80-mark, three-hour paper in two sections of 40 marks, with six compulsory questions that offer choices inside them. Each section has one-mark objective items, three-mark and four-mark questions, and one four-mark activity. Log tables are allowed, calculators are not, and a rough sketch is enough for linear programming graphs.
With options counted, Probability Distributions carries 11 marks, Differential Equations and Applications 10, and Application of Derivatives and Assignment Problems with Sequencing 9 each. The board also puts 61% of marks on application and skill, so a Jalgaon commerce student needs plenty of unfamiliar problems, not only memorised formulas.
Code 40 is for arts and science students, code 88 for commerce, and they are separate papers with different units. Code 40 includes vectors, lines and planes and trigonometric functions, while code 88 adds insurance, index numbers and sequencing. Tell the tutor the code, so preparation uses the right book and paper format.
Yes, we match tutors by medium, so mention Marathi, semi-English or English in your request. In semi-English classes maths and science are often taught in English, so the tutor should know which words your child already uses. Answers should still be practised in the language of the paper.
Every HSC student takes English, along with two compulsory subjects on the board's list: Health and Physical Education, and Environment Education and Water Security. The remaining subjects come from the optional list, and each junior college offers its own combinations, so check what your college runs before choosing a stream.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
